You are seeking out the strongest mega evolution users and are giving out mega trinkets left & right. She's the successor and, with Sycamore gone, the only person (asidefromaziguess) in the region with any true knowledge of the Mega Evolution phenomenon. It feels right at home that she should be an active agent in the plotline right alongside AZ, and having someone who isnt from Lumiose comment on the going-ons would be interesting. If Clemont was in the game you might even have room for developing more of the themes of the game with her through more interactions.

(Also honestly yeah Diantha should be here and not...filming a movie, I guess? Short of Korrina she's the Mega Evolution user of Kalos. Seems relevant to want her around.)

Wasn't there a bit in the first text dump that indicated, like, incomplete trainer data for Korrina or something? It's possible that she might end up making an appearance in the DLC since it'll presumably have more mega lore given the name "Mega Dimension."

totally bullshit that she's not in the base game though. what do you mean the only kalos gym leader ace to get a mega was the one used by THE mega evolution character and yet its just some random rogue mega??? not even used by a trainer or anything????

I’m not sure if I’m misreading you here, but Lucario never appears as a Rogue Mega. It helps you out in the tutorial against Rogue Mega Absol, but that Lucario is loaned to you by AZ and later given to you as a gift in the post-game, which, incidentally, does confirm that AZ got it from Korrina, with it even having her OT.

and to top it all off, that overhyped* dumbass dog has spent the past 12 years pretending it's korrina's ace when it isn't even on her gym team! poor hawlucha...

*i actually think lucario is pretty cool im just saying this for the bit

also, i admittedly haven't beaten the game yet, but i thought the letter you got with az's lucario was implying that it was the one korrina gave to calem/serena during x and y, no?

That’s how I read it at first, but I think the fact that the Lucario’s OT is Korrina and that AZ’s letter specifies that the Trainer who gave it to him was a “her” suggests more strongly that it was Korrina, not a definitively canonical Serena.

On a somewhat related note (minor spoiler about the XY Legendaries), I guess we should assume that the protagonist of XY opted to release Xerneas / Yveltal sometime in the five years since then, considering they were a mandatory capture in those games but are free-roaming and able to be caught here. Far be it from me, a staunch believer that there are very few to possibly no “one of a kind” species, to suggest that there can’t be multiple Xerneas or Yveltal in the world, but I think Z-A is very much implying that these are the same ones that Team Flare dealt with.

Superpower isn't in Z-A in general, and it knows Stored Power in the other games. Based on the stats it'll probably have Contrary

Contrary still kind of doesn't explain what the hell they're doing with its stat spread, however. Unless, of course, they decide it deserves Overheat and/or Psycho Boost...

I mean, all three are extremely stupid (at least for now) but I'm not sure the newer two really compare to Audino. Malamar still has some chance if they give it decent moves (and even if they just give it Superpower back, it will just keep doing its Malamar things), Pyroar is terrifyingly boring and needs either some excellent ability or a last-minute stat change (+10 Satk/Speed and -20 Atk would put it in Mega Lopunny territory), but even if it doesn't get anything new, it would still do Pyroar things. I think the only actual 100% joke Mega is Audino because it essentially has no ability (even in Doubles) so it's a literal nerf. Sure, they could buff Healer to be a decent ability, but it's been ten years already and nothing.

(Also speaking of Megas and good abilities: just like Mega Gengar stole Shadow Tag from Chandelure, Mega Chandelure could now close the circle and steal Levitate from Gengar lmao)

Isn't it strange no one hacked Diancie nr Mewtwo Mega Stones to show their eventy? People were hacking Mega Kalos Starters since day one...

Also, is AZ Floette coded as a Legendary?

Despite that, I have a Pumpkaboo in my PC that is definitely listed as XS on its summary screen, and another one that is listed as S but whose model is visibly much larger than the two M Pumpkaboo on either side of it. I’m guessing that each individual variety of Pumpkaboo has its own size range, which is what’s shown on the summary screen, but I don’t have the capability or the know-how to look into it on a technical level.

I believe this is correct, Pumpkaboo's inherent form sizes can all still come in S, M or L sizes (and XL) - I had a Jumbo who was M sized for that sidequest involving it.
 
Honestly, those strike me as more likely to stay than a bunch of Let's Go or Legends Arceus specific moves.

Then again, Scizor got Close Combat out of LA, so, quite likely. Seriously hoping they don't remove Ice Punch from Feraligatr beyond this game tho, been running that for 25 years.

The move pool additions aren't so crazy IMO, some are much needed and give them a bit more coverage that's desperately needed, I can see them staying.

I can't see Iron Head making a huge dent in Blastoise's viability tbh it's the possibility of a shell smash Mega that should be the conversation
