Pokémon Legends: Z-A General Discussion

If I had to guess, all of the NPC Trainers in the DLC are just going to be at or around the same levels as the generic Trainers in the Infinite Z-A Royale. I expect it’s just going to be more of what we’ve already seen in the base game but with different Megas and the like. I also don’t expect the DLC to have its own postgame within the postgame. I certainly don’t expect any wild Pokémon above maybe the mid-80s, that’s for sure.

I suspect it will start the levels around the infinite royale, and then slightly go above it. Beating the DLC will probably bump up all the infinite royaleopponents too, judging by Indigo Disk.

Likely yes, no mid080 Pokemon, but probably breach the 70s

There will almost certain be SOME type of post-post game for the DLC considering the other dlcs. off the top of my head:
Isle of Armor had the GMax Urshifu quest, you needed professor hop to help you out
Crown Tundra had it as a requirement for the Stars tournament to unlock and I believe the Musketeer questline (not 100% sure on this). To an extent I think you can look at the UB quest as "post game to the post game". I don't think it required base line SWSH's post game done, but you did need to finish up the Calyrex quest and that's definitely meant to be the "end" of the DLC's proper storyline iirc.
Indigo Disk kind of sidesteps this a little because to even play it you needed to beat the Academy Ace Tourney iirc (or am I thinking of the 7* raids?) but Treasures of Area Zero as a whole had a dedicated Epilogue that required everything to be completed, and completing that also unlocked the quintet for invites and upgraded all of the trainers in the tournament.

I think Teal Mask didn't require beating the Ace tourney to unlock it, but the Loyal 3 + the ogre trainers required beating Area Zero.

So even if it's nothing super major I would expect there to be one or two things to do when everything is completed.

The strongest opponent in the Indigo Disk is Cyrano, whose Unova starters are all at Level 87. Kieran and Nemona's aces are the same in their last rematches. The strongest trainer in BDSP was 2nd rematch Cynthia, whose Garchomp was tied with Red's Pikachu at L. 88

I would expect someone in this DLC to get to that level, probably tied with a Lysandre rematch

I feel like if anyone would reach level 87 it'd be a Taunie rematch. Maybe even an Urbaine rematch, I could see Hyperspace Lumiose having the other gendered rival.

I also bet we'll get some NEW character that'll get the focus in the DLC so them too.

I kind of doubt we get a Lysandre rematch considering the note he ends on, even if it's an AU Lysandre.

This will all be very funny when it's revealed that actually they are building the DLC with you beating That Guy in mind and immediately go beastmode as you encounter level 85 first stagers and get nuked by the new Draconid's Level 100 Mega Rayquaza

Speaking of Rayquaza, I saw bird (sorry lore) keeper toby's video on little bits of trivia and honestly I could go really petty jerk about that video BUT

He did bring up that Vinnie is surprisingly Rayquaza coded with his striking green gloves, mega ray-esque sideburns and honestly having Drampa as his ace. And the possible allusion with Quasartico's name; Quasars aren't really like Rayquaza's signature or anything, but it's still a pretty distinct thing to drawn on for a name for the return of mega pokemon.
Maybe Hyperspace Vinnie takes on some extra importance related to it? Who knows.

The update's been out. The trendy alpha exploit seems to be unaffected according to many reports by now.

The updated post-battle ranked rewards upgrade seems to be surprisingly good (sheet from Anubis): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...Ioq8-tMD8GGdYjWcsKAIZZoiOjbrmPD5dPW0I/pubhtml, supposedly featuring a good chance at bottle caps or apricorn balls for 1st and 2nd. I suppose it makes the online a worthy substitute grind to the maingame alternative.

but rather to just play with the concept of the multiverse in a way that cutely explains some of the differences between RSE and ORAS and also to give the player a nostalgic feeling that they’re also defending the Hoenn that they played in as a child.

Also important to note that you're defending that Hoenn and that you will never go back to it.

Nothing can stop the inexorable march of time! This new universe has Megas and you will like it (except when we go to Galar and Paldea)! Clefairy is a Fairy now! Enjoy progress!

GAMEFREAK, YOU WAIT TILL SIDE MISSION 100 TO GIVE THE EVIOLITE?!?! WHY? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

Though honestly I can say that about a lot of the side mission awards for Legends: ZA...

AND we continue with the nonsensical Side Mission awards!

I just now got all the Type Power-Up items. You know, Charcoal, Mystic Water, Miracle Seed, etc.. If you've been doing them in order, Mission 102 gives you the last one. Now, no matter what it is, that's still FAR too late into the game to be giving you any of these items, especially when earlier awards has given you more stronger/strategic items like Leftovers (Side Mission 68/around Main Mission 20), Shell Bell (67/20), Life Orb (85/26), Focus Sash (59/20), Weakness Policy (86/30), & Assault Vest (71/24). But still, want to guess which one it is? What Type got its Power-Up item last?

Dragon? No, got the Dragon Fang from 91 (MM31).
Fairy? Ha, nope, you actually get Fairy Feather earlier with 42 (MM15).
Steel? Close, it's the second-to-last awarded from 101 (MM35)

It's the Never-Melt Ice, Side Mission 102 (after a notable point in Main Mission 35). If you thought that the games having Ice-types obtainable early was the end of the Ice-type shafting, GameFreak has once again found another way to show their disdain for the Type. You'd think that the Side Mission for the Never-Melt Ice would have popped up around the time Wild Zone 12 appeared (or, heck, you'd find the Never-Melt Ice somewhere in the Wild Zone). Infact that's where Mission 102 happens, it's a battle with an Ice-type Trainer in Wild Zone 12! So, what was the hold-up? We have so many earlier side missions which gives rather inconsequential awards, they couldn't swap out some of those for ones which gave Type Power-Up items?

Out of curiosity, I decide to look ahead at the awards of future Side Missions to see if there's anything notable after this:

  1. Light Ball. Really? Note we've been able to capture Pikachu since Wild Zone 3 (and there's a Pichu in Wild Zone 1!); you'd think with Pikachu being the mascot of the franchise they'd want its exclusive power-up item available early enough where you'd even think of using a Pikachu instead of immediately evolving it into a Raichu cause, you know, the Stone Emporium is RIGHT THERE.

  2. Lucky Egg. Now, I guess this one isn't so bad as honestly leveling-up your Pokemon is pretty easy if you don't mine a bit of a grind, and if anything it could be taken as a suggestion that maybe at this point in the game you should consider completing the Mable Research tasks.

  3. A 2nd Metal Coat. I guess if you want both a Steelix and Scizor on your team before the end of the game?

  4. Expert Belt. You'd think you'd get this way earlier, like I always grouped Expert Belt with the Muscle Band and Wise Glasses. Though those also are given wide apart, Wise Glasses is actually given reasonably early in Side Mission 21 during Main Mission 8... but Muscle Band you gotta wait till Side Mission 56/Main Mission 20 for!

Did no one on GF really take a second to think "hey, shouldn't we be giving out these items during the point of the story where the player would likely be using them?". And it's especially notable for THIS GAME where Mega Evolution made its comeback AND you can now Mega Evolve MULTIPLE Pokemon! I'm pretty sure most players probably planned a team of all Mega Pokemon, thus all their Pokemon would be holding their Mega Stones; So you'd want to have the Held Items given out early on during the point where the player may consider using them for a Pokemon that either doesn't have their Mega Stone available or for Pokemon they like that can't Mega Evolve but want on the team anyway. And as I said, a lot of these items are honestly just clutches until you get the strong/strategic held items which you would consider maybe having a Pokemon on your otherwise all Mega team have.

(Actually, I just had a funny thought for Eviolite: what if it gave defensive boosts to Pokemon that have a Mega Evo? Not as much as a 50% increase, but maybe a 1/3rd)

We won't breach lv 88 on a trainer unless it's Red or Cynthia. Sadly, Indigo Disk just proven it...

Putting apricorn balls this frequently in the pvp rewards is such a great idea. I’ve felt for a long time we have a problem where a number of players will breed tons of Pokemon, but never actually put their Pokemon to the test (myself included). Here’s hoping the diluted, more relaxed nature of a game mode where the stress of winning is diluted by a 4 player battle and these sick Pokeball rewards entice a few more people to kick back and enjoy online free for alls.
