SPOILERS! Legends ZA Data Dumps - Adding Info to OP

Wait does Golisopod even have Steel moves to use?
It does learn Iron Head as an attacking (and Iron Defense in it’s level up learnset) in previous games so it does have a STAB on Mega Golisopod’s unexpected Bug / Steel combo.

But another appropriate question is if there will be a Steel -ate Ability for either it, Mega Chimecho (to be more offense oriented vs Bronzong) or even both.

Is there any indication regular Golisopod has an implementation of Emergency Exit? It's a pretty big part of the line's identity so I could see them coding something for it, and if it exists we could check if Golisopod-Mega also has it.

They know about the "every Mega is shaped like an X or Y" thing...

I mean obviously they’ve done it deliberately with a couple of the more recent Megas. Mega Absol Z’s horn is also very unambiguously in the shape of a Z.

The question that stands is, is this just a motif that Game Freak have coincidentally chosen to adopt recently as part of the newer design philosophy for some of the Z-A Megas, or was the theory Right All Along?

Personally, my bugbear with the theory is that it’s basically unfalsifiable, which makes it basically useless as a “theory.” For any example where someone could object on the grounds that they don’t really see the alleged X or Y or Z shape/element in the design, all any proponent has to do is contort and contrive the criteria to make it work. “Okay sure they may not look like an X all the time, but in this specific pose…”, which gives me painful flashbacks to the “the Alola Starters and Rockruff are shaped like alchemical symbols” thing.

Like, after Mega Lucario Z was revealed, Joe Merrick posted a picture of its stock art on twitter saying, “Okay but you have to admit it does look like a Z”… but the image was deliberately mirrored to create that resemblance. If you have to alter the image to make it work then it doesn’t really work, I feel.

Not to mention that the letters X, Y, and Z are all just 2/3 intersecting lines, which is an effortlessly easy sequence to “spot” in other shapes, especially when you’re making allowances for them to not have to be rigid straight lines.

And on top of all of that, you’ve also got the Pokémon fandom’s long and treasured history of “reading too much into shit.” :psysly:

When I say the X/Y thing it is mostly as a joke since, as you say later, it's a very common set of intersecting lines/poses and you can pretty easily read it into anything.

BUT TO BE FAIR

Xerneas's associatoin with the letter X is because when it leans down, it spreads its legs and looks like an X.
Any other time Xerneas is just standing straight ahead, the primary thought that goes through my mind is it looks way more like a Y lol. It just doesn't spread either of its legs out enough in its neutral posing to retain or emphasize the X Shape.

Comet Punch is now a good move as well.

Oh and hey, Dual Chop is back! NGL, SV really went after weird moves to cut for some reason.

Hoping that, if Pursuit is back, it gets tweaked tho; Ghost is very powerful at the moment, but making Dark weakness utterly detrimental is an extreme; perhaps having it always strike at 40 BP would work well enough.

Damn, they really brought back Magnet Bomb with a vengeance.

Comet Punch is now a good move as well.

Oh well let's see what they did to Razor Wind, notoriously bad move that no one was sad to see go. Maybe it's really strong, or comes out immediately, or is flying type!

Razor Wind Normal 12 40 The user attacks with numerous blades made of wind. This move has a heightened chance of landing a critical hit, but it takes some time to carry out.

ah....

Hey now, lets not forget it gets boosted by Sharpness!

Link doesn't work.

So are there literally any interesting new major trainer fights/pokemon choices or is my spreadsheet gonna be faced with the most disappointing update yet
So far I only had some double battles, Korrina figth, a fight with Terragon (still using 5 Pokemon:-(). Some sidequests had interesting Teams like a guy using only Alphas. But nothing special. But I still naively believe for sth. But this DLC is more like Crown Tundra than Indigo Disk...

Does this mean Mega Lopunny has a good move Normal-type move now? Woo!

It must be balanced in some stupid way so that it has an extremely wide hit box or something, or it can hit more than once. I refuse to believe it is this ass T_T

It being still Normal-type is extra egregious considering that they randomly decided now that Growth is actually more fitting as a Grass-type move.

Bulbapedia has not updated yet, what did they do to Comet Punch? 25 BP?

EDIT-- ok Serebii has it, and its BP is now... 30. Double the BP of the other multihit moves in ZA. What lmao.
EDIT2-- oh hey, Bonemerang is back too, 55 BP per hit now.

Petal dance and Dark Void are also funky now:
Petal Dance
Cooldown: 10
Power: 40
The user attacks by scattering petals in three waves, one after another. The user then becomes confused.
Dark Void
Cooldown: 12
Power: 60
The user inflicts drowsiness through total darkness. This deals extra damage to already drowsy targets. The user's HP will be restored by a portion of the damage dealt.

I mean, Volo could still come back given how Garchomp Mega Z is locked behind an event IIRC.

In theory, sure, but typically we would still be able to see the relevant event text in the code. It not being there suggests that the Garchompite Z is just a Mystery Gift or Ranked reward.

GF can't just keep on hinting at his return like this in both the base game and the DLC.

I mean, you’re assuming it’s a “hint.” These could just as well be, and likely are, simply benign references. Leon didn’t show up in the DLC either, despite the references to him in the base game. Pokémon games reference characters from other Pokémon games all the time without it leading to an appearance by those characters.

Xerneas has an X in its eyes.
