I'm relatively new here, but I just want to ask one question

I've been scouting around the forums, and in most of them, I can post new threads and replies and edit any posts that I make. Yet in the Warstory Archive, I can't do any of the three options. Why is that?

Good Morning,

Question about Attack/Defense and math calculations is there a Link to where I can learn this? or simple formula?

Much Thanks Ricky

and Ew on April fool joke -_-

Here's the formula: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25175

But for calculations you should try a Damage Calculator like this one: http://metalkid.info/Pokemon/OnlineProgram/Calculators/DamageDP.aspx

@Admiral Stalfos: Nobody but people with badges (and I think Doomsday...maybe) are allowed to post in a few of the topics because they've been archived. These include (not sure) Trou Du Cul, Smogon's Greatest Hits, the Warstory Archive, Policy Review, and a few other boards (I don't visit all of them, so I wouldn't know, sorry).

Warstory archive is an archive. As in read-only; you can't post there.

Where is the best place (in D/P) to EV train for HP?

"If you are using the VS Seeker, on Route 209 there is a great place to train. There is a girl at the top of the sand, her name is Cowgirl Shelly. She owns 5 Bidoofs, that give 1 HP EV each.

This is one of the simplest EVs to train. The best place to train HP is west of Pastoria City, on Route 212. You will see a small body of water, which you can hope on in and surf on. In this water you will see Woopers which give one point each, and Quagsires which give 2 points each. Together they both have a 100% encounter rate, though Woopers are far more common.

I suggest only training on the Wooperd. This is for the pure simplicity of calculations, because when using power items the Woopers always give an EV amount divisible by 5."

from C/C board (Ultimate D/P EV Training Guide by Doctor Mudkip)

I myself prefer Shelley due to her closeness to a city.

What the hell?
1. Counter does not work on Seismic Toss.
2. You completely misinterpreted the question. He didn't mean the move "Counter," obviously.

Now for the answers:
Bulky self-healing Calm-Minder or Bulky Toxicer to counter Blissey. I don't consider fighting types real counters because they can easily be rendered useless by Thunder Wave.

Gengar is hard to counter completely, but Blissey can counter most versions.

Yeah I know, the thread name was "ask a stupid question get a stupid answer" at the time so I gave a stupid answer. Now that everything's back to normal I'll start giving appropriate answers.

What effects do Posion and Burn have other than damage?

Regular Poison does nothing, Badly Poisoned (Toxic or 2 layers of Toxic Spikes) steadily increases damage (not sure on how much).

Burn halves attack (not S. Atk), unless the Poke burned has Guts or an ability like that.

Energy Ball or Grass Knot?

Also consider availability if this is ingame. I run Energy Ball over Grass Knot on things that learn both because I can get more Energy Ball TMs than Grass Knot. If online, I guess it's a matter of who you'll face, in which case Grass Knot is usually preferable.

Ok, Im breeding one parent with a 31 in attack with another with a 31 in speed, THEY JUST WONT PASS TOGETHER, I get them seperate with the occasional 31 in another stat, but wtf is up it shouldnt be that hard, is it?

How long should it take to pass two flawless stats from 2 diff parents to the same child, is it that difficult? BECAUSE IT ISNT WORKING FOR ME

If the parents dont like eachother does it effect iv passing?

No, it just means you're getting RNG screwed. Keep trying. It'll happen eventually

It's been awhile since I posted here, and I started the metagame up again. So I'm raising my Pokes, and there's just one more move I need to teach one of them to complete the moveset, but it needs to be evolved via evolutionary stone.

I haven't started EV training yet (just hatched) but I just want to make sure that there are no repercussions to evolving it now, adding the last move, then EV training versus leveling a bit then evolving. IIRC it doesn't matter when you do it.

Trying to use a decent Mamoswine with Blizzard with no recoil etc. Looked through the search function for about 30 minutes and none of the Mamoswine discussions had anything on neutral attack natures.

Mamoswine@Nevermeltice (for the fake choice suprise)
Lonely/Hasty not sure which would be better
Ev's Lonely 220 Atk 58 SpA 232 Spd
Ev's Hasty 252 Atk 118 SpA 140 Spd
The EV's for Atk and SpA are pretty bad fixing would be appreciated. Could probably add some into HP if I knew what was needed to kill skarm etc.
Moves:
Blizzard
Ice Shard
EarthQuake
Stone Edge

Good?
Sorry if this is the wrong thread to post this in. Just reposting since it hasn't been answered yet.
