Warstory: JesiahTEG vs. Surgo

This story is over on the main page of wifiwars and its our very best and most popular pokemon article so far.

Jesiah is a total beast and one of the best battlers out there. He and Mow/Mia have pretty much taught me the game and I think you guys can learn a lot from this story.

Yeah he's been teaching me how to play. He's one of the most amazing battlers out there and I think everyone should take a look.
 
My comment's still the same as it is on WiFiWars (speaking of which, make a Remember Me button). I think JesiahTEG is severely underrating Stealth Rock. It's an amazing move and telling newer players

"I myself won without using Spikes/Stealth Rock/Toxic Spikes. It’s better to attack then to try and whittle your opponent away by inflicting 12.5% damage each turn."

is bad advice. Stealth Rock is one of the best moves in the game.
 
I don't think anybody likes him anymore after the Smogon official tournament...

Still he gave good advice and he played great.
 
Meh I read it is nothing more than an average battle in which the better team match-up won. Surgo using a defensive stall team against Jesiah team of hard fast hitting pokemon, the team won in the end not really surprising not really exciting. The level of thinking there was nothing more than basic smart move plays by Jesiah which isn't bad as I agree with that way of playing as it limits the amount of bad miscues. Surgo really played a simple strategy which makes the whole "smart move play" a lot easier, however, that is a given considering his team.

Overall it was an ok battle nothing to go nuts about but a decent read.
 
I enjoyed this warstory, and learned a lot from it. Thanks for sharing.

I also read about how to use infernape in Jesiah's article, and that moveset is worth consideration.
 
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with Firestorm. All I got out of reading that is "Jesiah really thinks highly of himself". Giving bad advice, combined with posting an average-at-best battle really isn't the way to go when you are trying to show off like he clearly is.

Also, did the first two posts in this thread make anyone else go 0___o ??

Seemingly blind praise for someone who is pretty much unknown for battling while being well-known for being an idiot kinda makes me even less impressed.
 
Jesiah is an overrated, conceited, idiot that betrayed smogon. What is the damn significance of his advise anyway >_> stop sucking up to him.
 
Lets stay on topic guys this is about the warstory and lets keep it about the warstory.

I think the guy is a total moron but there is no reason to attack him not like he will see this and care what you think.

I admit he can be a bit cocky at times, but I've learned more from him in two days than smogon in a whole year.
hmmm.... I wonder how bad I'll get flamed for this.....

The warstory isn't even good, its clear that he posted it just to say "hey look at this smogonite i beat". It's just an advertisement and should be treated as such. Why else would someone not involved in the battle post it on a different site and then praise the site, the article and the winner without saying anything about the battle?
 
If you haven't noticed, you can only learn so much in this game. Let me reiterate this one more time: It is not hard to be good at pokemon.
 
I didn't lock this thread, but I would have if I saw it open. I'm cool with warstories involving me losing being posted, but this thread is pretty much spam.
 
Okay I just read the entire thread. What the fuck, people?

Some of the people in this thread are way out of line and edging into infraction territory. I don't want to see this kind of ridiculous bashing here on Smogon. He's really...not a dick at all, whatever he appears like in some warstory. Whether the rest of Smogon hates Jesiah or not, he's still my friend, and I consider bashing him the same as bashing me.

Consider this your warning.

The warstory was helpful to a number of people, anyway. I'd consider that a success. And personally I think Jesiah is a pretty good battler.

For the record I wouldn't have locked this thread (though I didn't actually lock it anyway) if it was just the warstory posted; we've had a bit of a spam problem lately so we've been coming down sort of hard on that sort of thing.

That's not true at all. Jesse and I are friends, I'm even driving a long distance to visit him on this upcoming friday.
