Team Char-Cool (Featuring Floatzel)

Actually I just named the team that but funnily enough I don't use fire pokemon or fire attacks in my team. ive been using it for a while but decided to update everything and put it up for rate. ANd I even replaced one of my old guys for my Mixed Mamoswine!:

Floatzel (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 40 HP/252 Def/216 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Bulk Up
- Taunt
- Waterfall

The team was built around Floatzel who is the pwnage for leading. He is perfect for leads, like Gyarados and Bronzong usually forcing a switch. Kristy will usually just use the sucker technique to set up my team. He Bulk Ups and Passes to Jolteon. He subs and passes to Missy, Mamoswine, or Gyarados. I then begin to sweep. Well thats the plan. Anyway Floatzel is pretty cool, and the theme of the team is to use cool pokemon and make a sucsessful team with them.

jolteon.png

Jolteon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 24 HP/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Baton Pass
- Substitute

Jolteon has 389 Speed to beat Medicham with scarf and all that other crap. Just using with Kristy to sucker in electric attacks. If all goes well I can pass like 2 Bulk ups, and a sub to gyarados while they try to EQ me. HP Ice beats dragons and stuff and it should ohko mence. Can sometimes beat Heatran one on one, or at least force heatran to wait to switch in.

mismagius.png

Mismagius (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 116 HP/252 Spd/140 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Substitute

I love missy and she is cool. I was thinking Espyjump but went with missy since she is more on attacking and I dont want to be a Baton pass team. But they are both cool. Missy brings a good Cress killer to the table which is my main problem. And she beats blissey. For some reason a lot of people keep blissey in. They also forgot that I outspeed no scarf chomp so I can shadow ball if they SD, and they are like ?_? wtf?

gyarados.png

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 216 HP/16 Atk/176 Def/100 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

Gyarados is always cool. Im trying the new ev spread for more effectiveness. Waterfall and Stone Edge is excellent coverage and I can even beat SpecsSurskit before he kills me with HP Elc =/. Damn surskit. This works best with kristyjolt. Its like the perfect combo.

Mamoswine (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk/236 Spd/20 SAtk
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Blizzard
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge

Mixed Mamoswine, the set I made =). Right now I am using him for garchomp, because scarf versions give me trouble. He also is handy for skarm but really skarm is stupid and I beat him anyway. Very powerful.

celebi.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 240 HP/12 Atk/220 Def/36 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn
- Recover
- Stealth Rock

Even with gyarados this is good for cripling a heracross. Thunder Wave it on a switch in and just play type advantage. Anyway U-Turn just breaks a lot of subbing stuff like Tar. And I needed rocks so I am using Celebi because he is also coolness incarnate.

thanks rmt

Not really sure Thunder Waving Heracross is the right way to go, as giving it Guts is the last thing you want to do. As it is you seem a bit DDGyra weak, so Grass Knot might help there. CBTar might give you a little trouble as well. Specs Shaymin has the ability to 1-2HKO your entire team, using Seed Flare, with the help of a defense drop on Celebi. A Scarfed Gengar spamming Shadow Ball could spell trouble too, as you have 2 weaks and no resists.

None of those will sweep you, but you lack a counter that can kill them without dying in the process.

However rare they may be a HP Grass CM Raikou gives you a hell of a time.

Nice idea, however you can't reliably counter the main threats such as Garchomp, Gyarados, etc.

I'm always one for executing a strategy instead of conforming to your opponents. Still, the team has some weaknesses.

DD Gyarados is easily scared off by Jolteon the first time around, but will just EQ you next time, so Jolteon no longer becomes a good counter. Therfore, I advise Grass Knot on Celebi.

You have lucario countered reasonably well, as it needs Bullet Punch to beat Missy, Crunch to beat Celebi, and Stone Edge to beat Gyarados, and it obviously won't have all 3. So that's a plus.

Garchomp worries me slightly, just because you really have no initial switch in and have to rely on revenge killing it, while it can just chip away at your team.

As mentioned, Scarfgar can give your team problems, though I don't really know what can help that.

One thing I noticed is that your team lacks any steel type. Not that it is a big deal, but most teams have one to at least resist dragon attacks, or just many types in general. Therfore, your team is a little lacking in overall resists.

For mamoswine, Nevermeltice and Expert Belt are good options for fooling your opponents, if Life Orb is off-putting, and it might against stall teams.

Just my 2 cents.

I saw this team's biggest issue just by taking a 5 second glance. Choice Band Tyranitar picks you off one by one, as nothing on your team can take a Crunch or Stone Edge coming off of 604 attack. Scarfgar will also make waste of you early game. To further point out issues for this team, giving a non scarf Gengar single turn to Hypnosis you can cost you 2-4 pokemon, depending if Jolteon is alive or not. In addition, a Swords Dance Lucario will make waste of your team with a layer of rocks down, which is a problem due to your lack of spinner.

The fixes:
Despite your inability to switch into virtually any of CBtar's moves, I must suggest you patch up this Gengar weakness right away due to the fact they lead half of all teams. Even a non scarf Gengar will drop Floatzel with a Thunderbolt turn 1, whilst Waterfall will do around 60 percent or so due to lack of attack evs. I suggest you replace something like Jolteon with a Sleep absorber like...Calm Zapdos(252 hp/ 36 speed/ 222 sdef). You will be able to still take generic electric attacks, with the addition of a Grass resistance and most importantly a solution to Gengar. This also throws another wall at pesky Swords Dance Lucarios(though Stone Edge versions can be dangerous during a late game switch in). Despite the positive effect the addition of Zapdos will have, you still have major Tyranitar issues. What I think would fit the team perfectly is Gliscor, in place of Celebi. It can take the responsibility of laying rocks and countering Lucario/CBtar at the same time. The last step in the reconstruction this team is sealing the Gyarados weakness Gliscor brings to the table. I hate to say it, but Floatzel needs to go for Starmie. Starmie spins away the Stealth Rock issue, counters Gyarados, and stops ape from trashing you(I forgot to mention the awful ape weakness early on). Run Spin/Recover/Thunderbolt/Surf-172 hp/ 224 speed/ 114 satk. On an ending note, run Naive on Mamoswine so you can outrun neutral speed Lucarios, which are abundant in today's metagame.

Although these fixes hurt the Floatzel "theme", you will have an effective, competitive team with all of your previous weaknesses covered. Floatzel's absense will call for a lead, so lead off with Zapdos, as it can beat Gengars and force Gyarados leads to switch, etc.

Nice team, as most people pointed out your team can't really switch into gengar, as well as other hard hitting special attackers such as azelf and porygonZ. Mismagius can help a little but can't really do much without setting up some calm mind. I'd suggest sub CM jirachi with 280 speed and enough special attack to 2hko lucario. However, that makes you weak to fire. But it's not like mismagius likes switching into heatran's fire blast. You have gyaraods and floatzel to cover your fire weakness I guess. Or you can replace celebi with swampert. It can stealth rock and does well against tyranitar. It can be a phazer too.

Mamoswine (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk/236 Spd/20 SAtk
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Blizzard
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge

Mixed Mamoswine, the set I made =). Right now I am using him for garchomp, because scarf versions give me trouble. He also is handy for skarm but really skarm is stupid and I beat him anyway. Very powerful.
haha, quite a number of people on shoddy know I have been running the mixed set since I joined shoddy (also with same EV and nature but it uses nevermeltice) and I also posted a warstory featuring this mixed mamo on smogon a long time ago, although I run stealth rock most of the time and occasionally replace it with stone edge in other variations of my team. Earthworm also posted the mixed set (I don't think he has the right EV and nature though) on the other mamoswine thread, after knowing/battling him quite some time on shoddy. Initially I liked your idea of putting this set on the analysis workshop, but I kinda feel like saying something now after reading this thread and your sig =] but no biggie, this is just my random rant. =P

Besides what everyone else has stated, thos HP EVs are pointless on Jolteon. Put them into speed so you can at worst tie with Aerodactyl and Crobat.
