Pokemon Platinum - The definitive thread: Mach 2 (In-Game Discussion)

Emerald will still be the king of hidden power ground pokemon >_>

Thunderpunch was speculated earlier in the thread. Hopefully the tutor list and egg move list will be revealed soon cuz most of the new move pokemon turned out pretty lame ?_? (with of course exceptions to scizor/steelix/bibarel/entei/probopass/darkrai)

awesome likst RBG
I'd say the only relevant things are curse bidoof/steelix, bullet punch scizor, nasty plot darkrai eruption entei

mayybe iron defense blastoise with like mirror coat but r__r

barrier galceon for awesome bp chains

and stab power gem for probopass lol

so we arent gonna see shaymin on shoddy just because you cant wifi with it o_o

I LOVE YOU SIR

Thank you.

freakin' awesome, belosom gets leaf blade! go go SD Belossom!
dragon dance + substitute + waterfall + flail (w/ torrent & Leichi) Feraligatr anyone?
curse steelix of any use?
raikou and suicune didn't need any help being awesome
Not to mention that they only had TMs added to their level up move pool. Same with Leafeon.....

If anyone notices any move that for some reason they think i might have missed, please PM me that way i actually see the message

well that sure is an accomplishment lol. let's all breed specsmence.

agreed (+ belossom and 'gatr!), most of it's Bug Bite + Feint with a fair few new Leaf Bladers.
also gorm spotted some good ones
I'd say the only relevant things are... and eruption entei
cool as it may be, how viable is Eruption Entei?

I'm gonna take a wild guess at the whole Feint thing.

Japan is obsessed with double battles. In doubles, you see Protect ALOT.
So it's probably a very welcome addition for the most part over there, whereas protect isn't so popular in our metagame. At least not enough that it's a good idea to pack Feint.

Not many people seem to realize how awesome Caterpie and Weedle getting Bug Bite is. While pretty useless, those guys haven't gotten a new move in the entire history of Pokemon (10 years?).

Typhlosion has higher Special Attack than Entei...the only advantage the Lava dog has is its fantastic attack, which it can use to put the hurt on Blissey and friends

But then again Typhlosion gets FP so it thoroughly outclasses Entei in terms of Eruption

I wouldn't go for that. The Elemental fangs I'd like to see as tutors. then again, my only reason for not wanting the punches would be that it'd devalue Emerald almost completely.

Even if Platinum did get the punches, it doesn't necessarily mean it has all of the other good Emerald moves like Seismic Toss, Counter, and Icy Wind. So there could still be reason to breed in it.

So I really can't believe no one has gotten to the E4/Battle Tower here.

I always felt like running through a pokemon game only battling gym leaders and such didn't take much time at all.

I agree with what someone said before. The new level up moves, with the few exceptions, totally suck.

For standard OU battlers, Bullet Punch Scizor is the only game changing additions.

omfg! Scizor for Uberdom!!!(just kidding, i am stoked about it though), Everything else was less then exciting..

I am 5 hours in and just finished Gym 4 :/

I am battling all trainers to outlevel the shit of gyms and eventually the E4. It's slow because I don't know japanese, though :P Did find a good walkthrough, though, so tommorow I should be able to get close to finishing.

Tell me about it.........

Try going through all 493 pokedex pages on serebii.........

And repeatedly seeing the phrases "Bug Bite" and "Feint"........

Seeing Leaf Blade here and there was nice though

Yes, bullet punch scizor is win <3 Also stab power gem on probopass =D Hoping for interesting move tutors. Also, I want that fan + lawnmower :X

Gah I want this game now...

Simple Bibarel with Curse has a lot of potential, basically doubling its attack and defense in one turn. Don't forget he also has access to Taunt. It's still UU, but it's great to see Bibarel functioning on his own.

This gives Forretress... access to a Bug-type attack, finally.
wondering how useful that may(n't?) be. I know Forry used HP Bug in ADV, but with Gyro Ball 'n' all...

mmm that's why I asked. even if Entei has the attack, it can't do a whole lot to Bliss (without howling) considering it's movepool. IMO Entei isn't going to see a whole lot more use because of this.
Even if Platinum did get the punches, it doesn't necessarily mean it has all of the other good Emerald moves like Seismic Toss, Counter, and Icy Wind.
well sure, but... how often do you actually see those in use? Sure Blissey would prob'ly be very different without S-Toss, but that's one Pokemon.
Yeah I can imagine, thanks for doing this btw.
Yes, we all owe you many thanks, Golbat.
Leaf Blade didnt seem to usefull on what is getting it (Bellosom..)
you won't say that when you fall to my Swords Dance / Leaf Blade / Drain Punch / Sleep Powder Belawesome that no longer has to make do with Razor Leaf

Waiting for Bologo to make a Curse Bibarel set xD

My favorite still remains Barrier Glaceon. o_o;

It'll be great in Duobles, Pair it with a Trick Roomer, then pwn.

Yeah, it finally gets some use out of its best stat and can function as a tank of sorts. It curiously gets access to Amnesia too....

I mentioned Bologo because he's probably going "yay" over it. x) Maybe more people will use it.

Vespiquen only gets Bug Bite? For shame, for shame.....waiting for the tutors. A lot of the new moves aren't that noteworthy.

Ok, here's info I got out of the Expert's forum at PokeBeach:

Shaymin Sky Forme's stats are: HP 100, Attack 103, Defense 75, Speed 127, Special Attack 120, Special Defense 75.

New ability: Serene Grace
New attack: Air Slash
New Type: Grass/Flying

I'm not sure where scampy got this, but if it's true Shaymin-S will most likely be uber.

Edit: It's all on the main page:
  • -Rotom's new forms: HP 50, Attack 65, Defense 107, Speed 86, Special Attack 105, Special Defense 107.
  • -Giratina Origin Forme's stats are: HP 150, Attack 120, Defense 100, Speed 90, Special Attack 120, Special Defense 100.
  • -Shaymin Sky Forme's stats are: HP 100, Attack 103, Defense 75, Speed 127, Special Attack 120, Special Defense 75.
