Pokemon Platinum - The definitive thread: Mach 3 (Competitive Discussion)

RBY pretty much formed the foundation of every attack type except Bug(GSC), Fighting (GSC), Dragon(ADV), Dark(GSC) and Steel(DP).
Don't forget about Grass (DP), unless you're big on shit like Solarbeam, Mega/Giga Drain and the Sceptile-exclusive Leaf Blade. Grass Knot, Leaf Storm and Energy Ball were what brought the Grassers to the masses.

That would be a yes. Ok, maybe my previous comment was vague, but let me put it this way: Earthquake does 83.33% of Waterfall's damage, but that difference adds up to a lot more damage when you're multiplying for super effective. You could say, truthfully, that it amounts to about a 20% damage difference, but the more multipliers get involved, the more that 20% damage adds up to. In the case of hitting TTar with Gyarados, it can be a big difference.

I don´t think too many people have mentioned it, but Aqua Tail is looking really good for Tyranitar. It 2HKOs Hippowdon if Stealth Rocks are down and Tyranitar is holding a Choice Band, which isn´t too hard to achieve. Looks like Machamp and Hariyama will be coming out in full force now :D

It has been mentioned by Anti and discussed with others..including what you said about CB and Hippowdon/Gliscor. Also, Hariyama usage raising would be awesome.

Now with Salamence getting outrage the only thing us Dragonite lovers can do is pray that Dragonite gets something like Brave Bird in order to be still viable.
Superpower can replace the SubPunch moveset freeing a moveslot for something like Roost or another attack. I can see it working.

There was a Naughty Dragonite set that ran Superpower / Thunderbolt / Fire Blast / Draco Meteor I think it was. It scored OHKOs on a lot of pokemon, so I could definately see it working that way.

Parasect: Seed Bomb Fury Cutter, Knock Off Snore, Synthesis

Parasect crys out in happyness of getting good secondary stab and something to potentally annoy those switching out of its spore Synthesis could se some use but given how fragile it is i doubt its really worthwhile

Finally, Victreebel has actual physical options in Leaf Blade and Sucker Punch!

I loved my SD bel in ADV, and now I can give it another whirl, hopefully it's at least got some potential back in it. (Though steel types do make it cry with a lack of a fighting move I guess...)

Is outrage viable at all on Nidoking? It seems like an interesting option to me..

Damage calc: 252/252 Adamant Gyarados with Life Orb and one DD against 252 HP Tyranitar.

Earthquake: 418 - 494 (103.47% - 122.28%)

Waterfall is only necessary if you're running a less offensive set, but since we're talking DD + 3 offensive moves, we're probably not talking BulkyDos.

So no, the damage difference doesn't matter, and EQ/Stone Edge/Bounce is viable.

Also, I get that Gyara's power isn't comparable to Bellyzard's, but the purpose of the two is the same. It's a free hit on something because if the Bulky Grass stays in it gets stroked, and if it doesn't, then something else gets hit and possibly paralyzed. It's still you deciding which member of your team you don't mind being hit with a +1 STAB Base 85 power attack with a 30% chance of paralysis, and the Gyarados user getting a free hit on a member of your team.

have they given up on the tutors now.....i still would really like to know some of the remaining pokes :P

I don't think they've given up, i think there is just less motivation since all the uber/OU/Bl pokemon are already done and most of whats left are NFEs and UU pokes, (no offense to UU)

Kangaskhan can now legally have Endeavor and Hammer Arm on the same set.

It's time for... FEARKHAN:

Kangaskhan @ Expert Belt
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Scrappy
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
~ Substitute
~ Endeavor
~ Sucker Punch
~ Hammer Arm

Alright, so with this spread you outspeed Jolly TTar and can OHKO any set without fail.

Otherwise the idea is simple, get down to low HP, hit with Endeavor, and then finish them off with Sucker Punch. After a Hammer Arm, you tie no speed Base 75 pokemon, so you could still, theoretically, finish off an Endeavor-weakened Skarm before it can Roost. (It does 16-19% on Max/Max +Def Skarm, and about 47% on a Roost (too bad Skarm recovers 50%... Always LolCrit)

Oh yeah, and for kicks, Sucker Punch OHKOs Gengar...

Kangaskhan could always have Endeavor and Hammer Arm on the same set, considering it breeds with Swampert, who learns both by level-up.

These are cool and all, but does anyone have any way of figuring out if any new Egg Moves were given to some Pokemon in Platinum?

Okay, I FINALLY, updated the front post with info curently known (Which means move tutor list is not complete) If you tihnk I need to add anything please tell me

And I doubt we are getting new egg moves
