^That any good as a back sprite, or should I try again? :S

That's a very interesting take on the back. I'd imagined the gray rocks more complete, but I like how you made the head sort of like a shell.

The normal rocks should probably be a shade or two darker though from the way the light source comes in on most backsprites.

Okay, I didn't enlarge the head but I fixed the lower left claw and repositioned it. I also tweaked the point at the end of the head and moved the smallest "eye" over some.

Again, if anyone out there can shade this better, do it. You will recieve half the credit to the sprite.

Note: This was rushed, so there are probably incorrect pixels, slight shading errors, etc. If you find any, please let me know. Anyways, with school getting in the way, I haven't had a lot of spare time, but I managed to whip up a decent sprite.

Quite a different take compared to the other sprites so far I think(which have been amazing, by the way). I tried to give it a more aggressive feel to it, what with it jumping at you claw raised, ready to strike. I had a few problems with the head(it used to be a LOT bigger), but I think I finally worked it out. The shading on the uppermost claw bothers me though, I'll probably fix that later. Feedback is always appreciated, positive or negative. I should begin working on the backsprites either later today or sometime tomorrow.

Oh, incase anyone cares, the shiny colors are supposed to be ruby jewels, garnet body stones, and obsidian head and claw stones. I figured since the regular form just seems to be made of common rocks, the shiny should be rare gemstones. I liked the way it came out because it looks like it just crawled out of a volcano, which is always a plus. *is a pyromaniac*

Atryoki, i would enjoy seeing your sprite, but for some reason i can't see anything from imageshack.
Would you mind uploading and posting your sprite on here?
Wyverii, im loving the sprite. It looks like it popped out of D/P.

This originally started out as a joke pose with me mixing and repositioning the scythe types from both poses following the original idea of the first pose and it came out a hell of a lot better than I thought. I altered the shading on the head a bit.

Fast enough for you guys?

<3<3<3
this is really good. i think the left claw(it's right) should be kinda lunging forward tho. not a lot, but just slightly.

Awesome concept, but I'll go ahead and point out some things that are bothering me.

1. The head looks a little big. If it was a tiny bit narrower It'd be awesome.
2. How close the two bands on the body are bugs me for some reason. I'd just like to see them spread out a little more.
3. The arm scythes don't really look sharp.

Otherwise it's awesome from what I can see. The eyes are amazing, and the shiny color is great. Anyway, hope that helps a little.

You guys are blowing me away spriting what I intially thought would have been a very limiting design.

Wyverii, great job as usual, and a very creative pose. I'm a fan of the lower scythes acting as 'legs' for the Pokemon, as having them haphazardly floating in mid-air all pointing towards each other never struck me as particularly aerodynamic anyway. Also, my first impression wasn't that it was dancing , but a performing nimble dodge which is befitting of it. Please keep experimenting because wonderful things happen when you do.

I also rather like yours, flygon493. It perhaps deviates a bit from the original concept art, but I believe in execution over accuracy. It doesn't particularly need Kabutops-sharp scythes so I find its arms are just fine; in fact they remind of a druid's sickle (as portrayed in Asterix). The only thing is, the way the sprite is done, it looks like it'd look like it belongs more with RBG sprites than DPPt. That isn't a bad thing aesthetically, but the styles do clash. RBG Pokemon's heads tended to take up most of the space and the poses were more prone to being ultra dynamic with exaggerated perspective. I love the spirit and energy of of your sprite, but perhaps you could tone down the extreme perspective a little?

I'll add a claw somewhere in the backsprite in a bit.

Wow man. When I first saw your front-sprite, I thought, "This is really good! I hope he goes through with this." The backsprite is good. I'm not really a fan of how the back of the head is just flat, but you did a very nice job with the other rocks, as they are very much in style with how Game Freak does it.

Besides the head on the backsprite, my only other complaint is the shading of the head. The way it's done makes it seem too metallic and really not rocky. Mine was kinda like that for a while too, but if you look at the other designs and then experiment around, you can make it much better.

Yours is definitely my favorite so far (besides mine heh, but I don't vote for myself in polls should I follow through with my design).

@ EM: Thanks, man! I appreciate your feedback. And yeah, I'm kinda bugged about the metalicness, too, but I not sure how to fix it. I'm not the best at shading. Dx
I'll experiment, though, and post up my results when I'm done.

Yes! I really like a) how you did the back of the head to be more than just flat, and b) how you fit in both of the upper claws.

This is all I meant when I was talking about a faster-looking, more aggressive-looking post. Although Wyverii's, with the hooks down, also accomplishes this pretty well. :)

The lower left claw, there should be some rocks underneath it shouldn't there be? Right now as it is, it looks more like a foot than even Wyverii's, and partially that stub at the back is to blame I think...

Also, would it offend you if I said this reminds me more of a Y/GSC sprite than anything? Because it's so big, I think a lot more could be shown in that style; but more than anything, I think it's because I remember a lot of action-y sprites from around that time.

Okay, so I reshaded the head, added the claw to the backsprite, and tried to add more depth to the back. Whew.

No claw option, too. I like this better.

Looking like 2 arms and 2 legs. Not like 3 floating members. Maybe if you remove the connecting part a bit/change the angle

I love what you did with the front sprite's head. That's perfect imo.

I like the no claw backsprite better for some reason, I think it gives it a clean look. Consider using your final shade of gray for the two lines in the back of the head on the backsprite.

Bravo. Your sprite is excellent. =)

EDIT- @chaoscrippler btw

This is a wonderful back sprite. Along with your front, I think I kn ow who I am voting for at this point. Excellently done Atyroki.

Also agreeing that Flygon's looks like a RBY sprite which is awesome, but probably not shoddy-appropriate. Even if you redo or change it, I hope there will be some sort of sprite museum on the site that yours could be a part in. It is pretty retro-cool.
