Cartoons by far shows his creation with "fighting"-like nature to it. Slapped in with the octopus like-look it is my top 3.

The submissions are great my top 3 are

1. Atroki
2. Doug
3. Cartoons

no order.

The latest, please forgive the fact that his head is disjointed D:

Yeah, paddles bendy and kinda wierd, but that's just mah style :3

Edit: I already said, I'm not getting rid of the paddle...

and I love digimon :(

By the way, please stop quoting the image, it just takes up space :/

I don't think it should be holding on anything, makes it look like some kind of Digimon. :x I like that pose though.

Read the OP regarding "looks like a Digimon" comments. It's mentioned specifically in the posting rules. Comments like that have derailed the art thread on every past CAP project, and I'm not going to put up with it any more.

Your design looks promising, Kopie!
Not meant to be a criticism, but it sort of looks like a cross between a squid and a...panda? Was that intentional? Come to think of it it's starting to grow on me.

To people who say that the paddle makes this thing seem un-pokemon-like:
-I can name several pokemon that wield items, Chansey and Blissey's eggs, Kadabra and Alakazams Spoons, Farfetch'd's leek, Cubone and Marowaks club, Hypnos Medallion, and Spoinks Pearl.
-"Well, all these are items" So? If that pokemon isn't holding it, does it go away?
-"They're all first gen except spoink, who isn't even holding his" So what? Generation shouldn't dictate design :/

I personally find Cartoons!, aragornbird's and DougJustDoug's submissions the best so far. The Siamese fighting fish and the paddle kappa are quite nice as well.

It seems that, for the most part, some sort of cephalopod is the way to go. However, I'm working on designs that are based off of an arapaima, a grouper, or a capybara, but not having much success.

Well, SOMEBODY needs to do a pirate Pokemon. After all, pirates are the first things to come to mind when you think of a warrior of the sea.

A squid's head makes a wonderful base for a pirate's hat, without actually being a hat. With multiple arms, it can pull off Fighting attacks quite easily. Of course, you'll need the trademark cutlass and hook. The front two arms can be used as fist for punching moves.

Blacking out an eye can give it the effect of an eyepatch, although whether it's necessary is the question. A skull shaped design can carry make the pirate hat look more obvious, although it may be too heavy handed.

I think this design is wonderful. The way you worked in the organic cutlass and hook is a great touch. Actually, that compliment applies to all the other elements of the drawing (the hat, the eye-patch, etc). Without all the creativity, this design easily could have come off as an octopus wearing a pirate costume. Instead, it looks like an octopus-like animal with several embedded features reminiscent of a pirate. I find it very difficult to render key design features with subtlety in my pokemon designs, but you have done it beautifully here.

BTW I vote for both the eye-patch and the skull, if you are counting...

Ah yes, well I mean the hands here!

These hands should be like hairyama's or fidgit's

I dunno, the second I see it I think, oh look, an Octorok from Legend of Zelda! (Which isnt really a bad thing) I just think it needs to be a bit more detailed and looks more like an evolution of that design.

Bleh he doesn't need hands, he can still cross chop and close combat. PS: I like the squids being presented :P.
Still I hope you artists pump out more designs, as nothing yet quite captures me even though some good stuff has been posted (not like our current depiction of stratagem instantly captured my heart <3)
