As most here are probably aware, Trick currently does not work correctly on Shoddy. If you try to Trick a choice item and receive another choice item back, you are normally locked into Trick until you switch out. In Shoddy, you are free to choose another move, which gives a huge advantage to the user of Trick and takes away a lot of the risks of using what is already a crippling move.
What I want to know is why Trick is allowed to be used if it is glitched. Recently, Fly was glitched and caused massive damage, which caused it to be banned until it was fixed. I don't see what the difference is here, except that people may whine "but I need Trick to win, blah blah blah." Just like with everything else new in Platinum, everyone wants to try Trick out now that seemingly everything can learn it (seriously, Slowbro doesn't seem that tricky to me) and might be reluctant to give it up until it is fixed.
Well, too bad I say, there is no reason to allow a move which is glitched and gives the user a potentially huge and unfair advantage. I'm not sure how Fly was handled on the ladder (if it was banned or not), but at the least, people should be encouraged to follow the rules and not switch moves when they would normally not be allowed to, a sort of gentlemen's rule like sleep clause in wifi.
I know the attitude on Smogon is doing whatever it takes to win, but this isn't a case of banning a move because it is overpowered, it is temporarily banning a move because it currently just doesn't work in Shoddy.
I'd like to hear what other Smogonites, especailly those in a position to do something about this, think about the matter.
