Photoshop is just too expensive...
I have PSP9 from forever ago, and GIMP. Do you know of any good tutorial sites that show how to use each effect properly, such as lighting, color balance, etc. as opposed to very specific tutorials, such as how to make a round ball or something. O.O
 
Can some one make me 3 banners?

One saying OU with a t-tar in it

One saying BL with a Gallade about to chop the words BL

One saying UU with Clefable looking cool next to it

i've been using GIMP for over 2 years..even after playing with it for so long, half of what i make is trash. i used to design wallpapers, but i'm so obsessed with intricate detail i can't will myself to spread it out on such a large canvas.

i'm also obnoxiously slow, despite my numerous attempts to start up commission boards again on other sites. i usually only get one or two done, and then i forget about everything else.

I'm having trouble using lighting and coloring effects in GIMP. I know the best thing to do is experiment, but do you know of any helpful guides/tutorials to push me in the right direction?

hmm..i'm not sure which kind of lighting you're looking for, but i did some googling for lighting effects and found these two:

i think you're better off lurking around yourself for that, though. D:

for coloring, if i ever find the colors a bit off, i like to use curves. i think it's under colors on the canvas. you can edit the brightness and contrast of the image, and the intensity of blue, red and green. there is also the channel mixer, which is also under colors (under something else in colors..can't think of what it is), but it's better used for things like livejournal icons and photo coloring.

of course, if you just need a splash of color, take a soft circle brush (usually it should be very large), make one dot with it and set the layer to lighten only or soft light. there's also just taking a brush and messing around with the blending modes to adjust it.
 
Anyone know what the cheapest version of Photoshop is, that doesn't skip any useful features?

I know some of the CS ones run for about $350. I would rather not pay more than $150 if possible.

CS is probably the best one to get if you don't need all the newest features. I have CS2 and it is sufficient for my needs (I got a discount through school). The difference between PS 7 and PS CS is immense, so CS should probably the be the one to look at. (CS4 is out now).
 
I have a request for a banner for my sig. The request is for a banner with my name "Madd Cribbage" in it, my FC which is 2449 6911 0970, and a Marowak or Hitmonlee or Primeape or Magneton or Octillery (or a combination of which ever ones you like or whatever, be creative ;P)

I also have a kind of ambitious idea that is kinda crazy. The banner would encorporate all of those pokes mentions above along the bottom. FC and name in the middle. And a Swellow above all of that, although I doubt anyone would want to make this seeing as it is quite a bit of work.

Thanks in advanced for anyone who decides to take my request, it is greatly appreaciated :)
 
I'm looking to draw something for somebody. I need to test out my new tablet, as well as get to know photoshop better at the same time. It can not be a banner. Please pm me. (this is for free, as i'm only looking for practice)
