Not a 100% simple question or answer, but, I don't know where to put this.

Why do people breed a Leech Seed pokemon with low HP? Can someone explain to me exactly how Leech Seed works?

Leech Seed is a move that saps HP from the inflicted Pokemon every turn, and it can only be released by switching out or Rapid Spinning. The reason some people have low HP on their Leech Seeders is because they receive more HP that way.

But doesn't it sap 1/8 every time? How does less HP = more recovery? I guess I need an example, because it's not making sense to my sunday morning brain.

It does, but what I meant was that with lower HP, you actually receive a higher percentage of your own HP. Sorry, should have been more specific.

You're right. I don't think there are good reasons to breed intentionally for a low hp IV, if you look at the analysis, you'll note that more or less every sub-seed set has 252 hp EVs. Maybe they consider a low hp IV acceptable because with leech seed you restore a higher percentage of your max hp, I don't see any other reason actually.

Question, currently trying to EV train my pokemon, but what if the wrong pokemon shows up? I just press ran, but does that count as battling a pokemon and gaining its EV?

What if, I attack the poke, but it didn't die and I press ran?

You have to defeat to pokemon to gain EVs.

thank you Haunter and Solidus. I have been wondering this as well, because I noticed most of the seeders with good HP run 200+ HP EVs. The only one I really noticed this on was Jumpluff, which is understandable because it probably doesn't take a hit well with it's low stats. Thank you again.

vansonbee, you gain EVs only when you KO a pokemon, so, you would not get EVs for attacking and running without KOing the enemy pokemon.

To clarify, you only gain EVs when you gain experience. If you don't KO the Pokemon, then you don't get experience, thus no EVs.

I feel silly asking this, but I suddenly became unsure; If you us a EV dropping berry when the EVs are higher than 100, they drop to 100 in one use, and then drop 10 each berry after that? I remember testing this, and I could only feed my Pokemon 11 of one stat reducing berry. I'm asking this because I lost track of a Poke's EVs and I'm wondering how many berries to use.

~Pursuit/Ice Shrd/BB/Ice Punch or Night SLash on Weavile? Also, give it 40HP EVs?
~Spikes/Blizzard/Shadow Ball/Thunder for Froslass? Not for lead...
~How much SpA and Spe does MixMamo need? Also, what item?

Is the Weavile Choice Band? I personally run Aerial Ace in the last slot, and have great success dealing with Machamp, Breloom, Infernape, and Heracross.

If it's running in Hail, Blizzard is fine, but, no Thunder. What is Froslass doing besides spiking, just dealing damage?

Not sure on Mix Mamo, but, I'd assume the item in Life Orb.

Hi can anyone help who has the jap/import of platinum. I've been busy lately breeding and i never got round to getting darkrai in the game, i downloaded via wifi the members card needed last year but today i went to canalave city but the door to the locked inn wont unlock. anyone have any ideas i have national dex but i've only caught 41 pokes ( is it like in lf/fr when you needed 60 pokes). Can anyone help everyone as to why door wont unlock? thanks to anyone who replies
You need to go see Cresselia, get the Lunar Wing, and give it to the sailor's son before you can do the Darkrai event. If that still doesn't work, then catch Cresselia, and you should be able to.

It's more of a SubSeeder thing as it will hopefully allow them to sap enough HP to sustain their own Subs without a defecit. I'd still breed for 31 HP though, going for low HP is about as dumb as this trend to get 0 Def on a Pokemon that uses Counter. ._.

That's not true. SubSeed Sceptile uses 56 HP / 200 Def / 252 Spe whilst SubSeed Jumpluff uses 188 Def / 68 SpD / 252 Spe.

Pursuit/Ice Shrd/BB/Ice Punch or Night SLash on Weavile? Also, give it 40HP EVs?

The 40 HP EVs allow guaranteed survival against Azelf's Flamethrower. If you don't want that just max speed to tie with other Weavile and Swellow.
