HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

Yeah, I already knew it was out of proportion but that still shows Johto has a lot of unused space, everything was truncated in the original games. They really must increase the routes/cities' complexity a bit.

I hope they make Goldenrod City quite massive. It's supposed to be the biggest city in Johto/Kanto, after all.

Also, it'd be cool if the Magnet Train's tracks could be seen stretching across the landscape instead of mysteriously disappearing (and then reappearing again in Saffron). Or at least show the train heading into an underground tunnel. Otherwise, it'd be neat to walk under this majestic-looking raised rail system every now and then.

I'm very excited I keep thinking about it. I hope __EVERYTHING__ is included again. I just don't enjoy the new storys much at all. But hopefully Silver will let me feel that whimsical feeling I used to get playing Pokemon.

But again, is it possible we'll get new formes again? And I still don't see what ESpeed is going to do for Dragonite.

Which reminds me, looks like Serebii said on his forums that Prof. Oak says in DPPt (or at least Platinum) that the white rock in Sinnoh has a counterpart in Kanto. Is it true? And if so, does RBY/FRLG/GSC even HAD a white rock?

Well, Heart Gold has the whole "heart of gold" thing going about it. I do like the Ho-oh and Lugia twist on the logos...

So with this confirmation, who is now wondering how exclusive things from G/S/C will be implemented to remain compatible with D/P/Pt? By this I mean things like Apricorn Pokeballs, holdable items such as the Ragecandybar, etc...

Then there's making it a loyal remake but using 4th gen stuff. How are Red Gyarados' nature and IVs, evolutions such as Yanmega and Mamoswine, daily berry trees, and others going to be adapted for 4th gen?

Apricorns will probably stay, at least I hope. We can't go screwing over Kurt.
Ragecandybar is currently avaliable in the basement of the Platinum department store, i believe.
Of course new evos (Yanmega) will be in it. Daily berries will just get replaced by the DPPt berry system, Red Gyara has been explained sufficiently.

This is great news!

Getting one or the other for the logo bird isn't really a deal breaker, since I can't imagine how both wouldn't be in both games. If they removed one they would not only break the story, but also make either Whirl Islands or Burned Tower pointless in each game, since about the only point they serve is to house their bird (and a few items and random encounters).

Any Crystal features will probably not be present, considering this is a GS remake, not a Crystal remake. FR/LG didn't include Yellow updates for example, and they will most likely want to keep this a pure remake as well. If one thing from Crystal is remade I bet it's the Battle Tower. In that case, my bet is that the Trainer House in Viridian will be beefed up to something bigger. And Kanto will be present, I really dn't see how they could skip it, seeing as they would have to remove the train in Goldenrod, and a all in all a highly appreciated feature of the originals. About the only real news will probably be new move tutors, and a possible new post game area, like a new island, a beefed up Mt Silver area, or a Battle Frontier.

It will be interesting to see how they handle Headbutting Trees. A Move Tutor (possibly an infinite one) or more likely just replacing it with Honey Trees are the most probable scenarios.

Whirlpool is another interesting point, considering the whirlpools named the the area Whirl Islands. They can't really add whirlpool as a move tutor move either, since it would be deletable at any time, unlike a HM, which could potentially screw you up, and any new TMs or HMs are highly unlikely. They will most likely just create some other feature keeping you from entering it early, and add whirlpools as a mere graphical effect.

Gym leaders and Elite Four are also likely to be kept just the same as before, with new movesets of course, in order to maintain the closeness to the original. GS did have a bit shorter between gyms and the E4 than the other games, making their lower levels rather balanced, at least in my experience.

Good points. Although the birds will stay true to their GSC availiability, for sure.

I remember I had the same thing with Kingdra too. "WHAT IS HE WEAK TO, DAMNIT?"

Kingdra's Hyper Beam raped my teams over so many times lol

Anyway, I'll get Silver because that's actually the one I played, unlike you hypocrites coming from Gold/Crystal just because Lugia is better.
And I'm really doing it because Ledyba >>>>> Spinarak.
I loved how you could explore the Underground in Goldenrod and the Rocket Tower and stuff... It'll be great. Ruins of Alf too, now that I can actually do the puzzles xD

So, there's finally going to be remakes of Gold and Silver... And here I thought that maybe it would stay a rumor.

But really, they should have called the games, "Dusk Gold" and "Dawn Silver." But I suppose that Heart Gold and Soul Silver are fitting enough names for the games. I just hope they have enough additional features to keep me busy, since I'm getting really sick of what goes on in-game.

They should make some of the Bird pokemon learn mud shot considering they can learn mudslap :O. Pretty stupid, but it would be interesting and make me lol. Also, we get to phone Ma again!

I just thought of something. They will probably give Red's Pikachu a lightball to make him more challenging. That, would be awesome.

I like all your ideas about make Johto bigger/more detailed and the landscape in the train.

I have heard there was a town removed from the game in the beta just in lake of rage (serebii forums, so yeah you get it), wouldn't be the right time to bring it back, or just use everything they had in mind and couldn't because of space?

In fact, they are sold out indefinitely because a gentleman nearby has seemed to bought them all. XD

Lol yeah i just noticed the other day, i wanted to buy some for the nostalgia...

I think the Sevii Islands will be included, since it seems that HGSS will be sequels to FRLG just as GS was a sequel to RBY. The islands could allow for a Frontier and could be much more populated than they were before. It could also allow for Mew to be available in the game, since it seems like they're tryingto make all the Legendaries (Save Mewtwo, Kyogre, Groudon, Jirachi and Rayquaza) available on the DS games. Mew was in the Sevii Islands before, I guess it could be there again, and available with an event item like Celebi.

As for Kanto, it will be in the game, since it was a major part of GSC. I think they'll expand on the story there a bit to make the game a little more lengthy. The Trainer House in Viridian has huge potential as well. Plus, there could be an even to reopen the Safari Zone.

Aeroblast and Sacred Fire are now learned at level 77, IIRC.

Aeroblast/Sacred Fire are set at L85 as of Platinum. However, there's at least a few natural moveset changes between versions, so it's entirely possible to swap it for L37 (where Rain Dance/Sunny Day are) and have it available if you go for the bird at L40.

And yeah, I forgot about Silver Wind being a Bug TM. I'd probably adjust the odds for Bugsy to 40/30/30 for Silver Wind/U-Turn/X-Scissor if I had to set a line for it.

Now that I think about it, do you think the old-man making the building in Vermilion City will finally be finished if Kanto is included? I think it would be good as a GTS or something to do with Wi-Fi.

Man it would be about time! >< i think this building has been under construction for over 15 years...

Wow... I don't know what to say. I just got Platinum and am just starting to learn how to abuse the RNG...

Who cares! I'll still buy this. I'll probably get Soul Silver because I bought Gold the first time around so I'm gonna mix it up.

Like Lee, I've updated my avatar ^_^

Didn't that turn into the Battle Tower in Crystal?

^Nah; I believe the official site does indeed describe them as being remakes, which means that Game Freak will likely be true to the original Gold and Silver by keeping Kanto in.

Although, I too would much prefer to go to Hoenn after beating Johto, than going to Kanto again for the 5,000th time, but it most likely won't happen.

They probably will but there is no harm in speculating. And it's not as if it isn't possible... Enhanced remake, much? lol And Hoenn = Jirachi, and Sapphire was one of my favorite Pokemon games. :(

There just needs to be a Battle Frontier though... I hate only having Battle Tower.

Unfortunately, It feels like G/S on the DS will totally ruin the "Johto" experience. I could be wrong, though.
You know absolutely nothing but the release date and name and conclude this? It will probably ruin the "Johto" experience in that it'll show most people that GS isn't as amazing as they thought it was, but that's about it.

no. i refuse to believe it is less than 11/10. Sure i played it when i was 8, and whne you are eight you think everything is awesome.

LALALAALALAL I CANT HEAR YOU COMMON SENSE LALALALALA

Wait wait wait, for the time GSC was released it was really good, this remake won't ruin the Johto experience(you can always play the real GSC games) this reamake won't bring back GSC to his former glory, it doesn't mean it has to suck either, is just nostalgia and introduction to new players (post GSC) to the games.

These are two things totally apart.
