Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Also, the journal popping up at the middle of the game with no caught pokemon on the opening page will not change my frame, correct?

@TDS: correct. My suggestion is to have at least 9 different days of caught pokemon (bidoof, starly, kricketot, etc...) so that it becomes an easier pattern.

I can't seem to get a shiny egg. Am I doing something wrong? When I set the Poketch app to #5, when it says to reset the game, am I allowed to turn the game off there? Or do I have to soft reset the game? And am I allowed to go in the PC? I'm using Pearl by the way, not Platinum.

Save in the grass with app 5 opened, then reset and catch a pokemon etc.
And yes, you can use the PC, but I suggest to do the taps and flips right after you find the number of taps you have to do.

The main mistakes I made when I was first trying to get a shiny egg was that I had the wrong number of pokes in my party (you need 5 when you turn on your game) and one of my pokes was holding an Everstone. Did you check to make sure you're not doing either of those 2 things?

Yes, I do have 5 in my party when I turn on my game and no, none of my pokemon have an Everstone. They may have other items though.

EDIT: Right after I catch my Pokemon, I put the 5 Pokemon in my boxes, since I have to have only one Pokemon in my party so I can check its IVs (AR code).

It's official. There is something terribly wrong with my game. Is there any way for the Frame to change randomly after you've saved with it as a certain number? I'm convinced there is.

So with a capture on the first journal page, and closing out immediately, I get 3. So I tried turning the page and back once. I logically got 5. I was excited. I SR'd a couple times and was having bad luck with the Delay, but decided to hatch one of the random wrong eggs just to check the Frame again. I got 9.

I think RNG is too much for me. I wouldn't mind it screwing up if I knew why it was doing this. I can't stand not knowing things. ><

mingot,

I failed a Method J spread 5 times because RNG Reporter said I didn't need a syncer and it turned out that I did (after getting a syncer I succeeded on the first try). Is this an error in the program, or do I just not know how to read it correctly? The seed is cc0502a9. I know it's recommended to always use a syncer but I didn't have one at the time so I thought I'd try without one.

I just thought I'd ask because (from what I've seen) people have only used that flawless Bold spread on Method 1 pokes. I thought if this was an error you could fix it for future reference.

Remember, the movement of the NPCs also increase the frame. You're probably waiting a split-second too long to collect the egg.

1) Was the spread on the Method J list? If it is, then it's possible to get with a syncher. If it isn't, then no syncher can help you.

2) Synchers are recommended because a) they reduce the number of flips you need to make, even if slightly and b) because they can still allow you to get a good spread even if you screw up the journal flips slightly. For instance, if you find that with a syncher you get your shiny spread on frames 2113, 2115, and 2117, just aim for 2115 and if you're one off you'll still land on your target.

Yeah, that's the reason why I've resaved to shuffle the frame so many times in the past day. I figured that during that time I was trying to get 25 and kept getting 24 and 23, I had saved at a bad time when the Frame was likely to go either way. But every time I close the journal, I proceed to mash A as fast as possible (and when laying the DS flat and rapidly tapping with my index finger, I can get it pretty damn fast). Is there any position the NPCs should be in that would reduce the likeliness of the Frame increasing?

No. I get my spreads from Viletung's Method 1 list, then run them through RNG Reporter to "convert" them to J. I didn't have a Synchronizer so I checked to see if I needed one by putting "none" for Sync nature and generated. The target spread came up (which normally indicates that I can get it without a syncer), yet I was unable to get the spread until after I started using the syncer.

So I was asking if there was a reason that this spread required a syncer but showed up in RNG reporter without one, when normally that doesn't happen.

BTW I know it's possible to get with a syncer--I said in my last post that I already did get it. Think you misread...

Odds are, you can hit the spread without a syncher but you missed it the first time.

Do you take them out before doing your taps? D:

I'd just use Metalkid's calculator as soon as you catch the Pokemon, and to do the taps right after you generate them to avoid mistakes without depositing the Pokemon. You only need one to three rare candies to check a Pokemon's level, especially if you're using a Magikarp in Plat. In D/P, you can use survival area/fight area Pokemon. I don't have AR anyway, but it works perfectly fine for me.

Edit:

I was wondering... technically it makes sense, but can we go back and re-use a certain spread we used already?
i.e. change the clock as usual, breed another Pokemon with the same spread? *_*

Absolutely. As long as you make sure the time and delay are right, you can get a seed over and over again.

I want to get this spread on a Zapdos

Method 1
Seed: 801702b3
Offset: 867
Bold
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/30 HP Ice 70

Do I just flip the journal and then talk to the man in the house or do I have to do something else for the legendary birds. Does the starting frame change for each of them. I don't even know if I am making sense.

That's awesome to know.
Thanks! ;D

Salamence, Dragonite, Garchomp?

I put the Pokemon in my boxes except the one I caught before doing my taps. Does that mess anything?

Yes, you do your flips before talking to Oak. However, note that if you don't do any flips, Moltres is frame 1, Zapdos is frame 6, and Articuno is frame 11 (i.e. 5 frames after one another). So you'd have to take 128 steps with one Pokémon in your party, then do 430 journal page flips to get Zapdos on offset 867.

That messes EVERYTHING up. You need to have all six in your party when you are making the taps. The RNG is advanced by 2 for each Pokemon floating around on the screen of the happiness checker (that means eggs don't count), meaning 12 if you have all six. RNG Reporter assumes you have things this way.

Sidenote: If you are using Platinum, you can save on Rare Candies by consulting the Hidden Power Type guy in the Game Corner prize shop in Veilstone. I believe Metalkid's calc has an option for narrowing down the IVs this way.

Ahh...I'm no expert, but I believe the happiness checker increments your RNG based on the number of Pokemon in your party. You need to have all six, including the one you caught, with you. ;( Just follow the directions exactly in the order provided on the first page and everything should be fine :>

So do I just take them out of the box again in the same order they were before, or does that also mess it up?
