Congrats zerowing! Yet another person I will have to hug if I make it to St. Louis.
so that was zerowing?
just got home. the guy he played against was from Salt Lake City, Utah. took a 22 hour bus ride to get here.
I didn't get picked. :( 128 spots and about 250 people registered for the senior division.
i'll post a mini-warstory while you guys wait for youtube vids

Turn 1:
Smeargle used Helping Hand.
Gengar used Sludge Bomb and OHKO'd Zapdos.
Garchomp used Rock Slide. both Smeargle and Gengar at about half-health.
zerowing sends out Metagross.
Turn 2:
Smeargle used Helping Hand.
Metagross used Bullet Punch and KO'd Gengar.
Garchomp used Rock Slide and KO'd Smeargle.
utah guy sends out Latios and Porygon-Z
Turn 3:
Porygon-Z used Protect
Garchomp used Protect.
Latios uses Draco Meteor on Garchomp, but Garchomp is protected.
Metagross used Meteor Mash on Porygon-Z, but Porygon-Z is protected.
Turn 4: (may be out of order, memory not too clear)
Latios used Hidden Power on Metagross, Metagross' Fire-berry (whichever one it is) activates.
Porygon-Z uses Last Resort on Garchomp. Garchomp barely survives.
i forgot what Garchomp and Metagross used.
Turn 5:
Porygon-Z used Protect.
Latios uses Ice Beam on Garchomp.
Metagross uses Meteor Mash on Porygon-Z, but Porygon-Z is protected.
zerowing sends out Abomasnow
Turn 6:
Porygon-Z used Protect, but it failed.
I forgot what Latios used.
Metagross KO'd Porygon-Z with Meteor Mash.
Abomasnow uses Blizzard and KO'd Latios.
sorry that the last few turns are unclear, but that's basically what happened.

It sounds like either Ultimatedra or the Fish King came in second then. Congrats zerowing!
I'm not so sure about that. He specified that the guy took a bus ride, while I'm pretty sure Ultimatedra and The Fish King drove together.
Hey, this was totally my team first. I've been practicing with SailorClef for a long time on Netbattle with something VERY similar to this.
Actually, the NY winner last year used Zapdos/Garchomp/Metagross so I'm pretty sure you didn't come up with the team first. Also Zapdos+Garchomp and Zapdos+Mamoswine have been used in Japan which was a long time before this. I'm kind of surprised that the second place team made it that far tbh. Last Resort PorygonZ is...pretty bad.
Yeah, but using Abomasnow was an idea I made on my own without outside inflluence. It was just coincidence that zerowing thought that too, though he probably thought it first.
Also, Zapdos + Swampert or Zapdos + Quagsire (Damp) are pretty viable.
