Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

You should check to see what frame you're around. I know that was a problem I was having before. Try testing the seed by loading your file and catching a Pokemon and use that seed to generate Breeding results. Then see which frame you got. Remember, the other characters affect it, too. The Buneary running across can be a pain, but you can use it to your advantage. I try to stop it after it takes two steps. Sorry if I'm just telling you what you already know. I just know that was something that helped me. I'm just having a hard time getting the delay right.

Actually, the Buneary does not affect your frame, but you CAN use her to your advantage. If you always get the egg when the Buneary is on the same place, you can pretty much guess the frame you'll get.

Does the international parent count if they are international from eachother, or is it also if they are from different game regions (I.E a pair of U.S Pokémon on a Japenese game). Please can somebody clarify this for me.

@Freshest: Are you picking up an egg, or catching a wild pokemon? If you're going for an egg, you can only advance the RNG by taking 128 steps if you're not in grass. You'll have to switch to an even frame before continuing on though.

Then you'll need to take 128 steps w/ an odd number of pokemon in your party (1,3,5) and add 1 to that. Then subtract the frame you're aiming for by the party pokes+1. Then divide that by 2. That's how many flips you'll need to do. Good luck btw.

I'm still a little confused so I take 128 steps, which involves more than 128 frame advances correct, then i see how many frames I advanced then add 1 to that total number, then subtract my target frame and divide by 2.
Is this all correct?

I have 2 questions;

  1. How can I get an odd frame for WonderCard IVs? I want the flawless Spread, that was frame 116.
  2. Who does advance the seed in a PokeMart? Just the NPC's in the Pokémart, or all NPC's in that town?

Oh, wow. I assumed the Buneary did affect the RNG. Thanks! You just saved me a lot of trouble learning that the hard way!

Edit: I just tested this and it appears the Buneary does affect the frame. My starting frame is 7. My first test, I did a journal flip and kept track on the NPCs excluding the Pokemon below, but my frame ended up being 17. I tried again, counting the Buneary steps (which was 3) and the cowgirl (which was 1) which gave me frame 11.

Hopefully this will answer both questions. Only the NPCs in the pokemart affect the seed. When the NPC moves from one space to another or turns, it advances. In sandgem, only one person moves, so get him to stand as far north he goes, and facing north. keep opening and closing the menu until you stop him halfway through walking 1 space south. that will advance it by 1. Then do journal advances, then close out of the menu and take the poke immediately from the guy. If the guy takes the full steps, it advances it by 2.

So if I did that, it'd be easier for me to get frame 512, right? Would that mean lesser flips? Or would it make sense to have the NPC's take care of the job?

I've been attempting to RNG abuse a Milotic Wonder Card. I need the NPCs to advance the frame by 1 to reach my target frame, 52. I save and then watch the moving NPC afterward. He always moves one step forward. Then as soon as I start trying to get my seed, he'll turn and walk, thus advancing by 2. :( I can't seem to get it to only advance by 1, and this is very irritating considering I've only gotten to Floaroma Town in this game and I can't just go release a Cresselia/Mesprit. Any suggestions?

No. When in an area where wild pokemon can appear (grass/caves with wilds/Ocean) eash step increases the frame by 1. When in other areas, like the pixies cave's, the frame increases by the number of pokemon in your party for each 128 steps.

Okay, I know how to do all this RNG stuff, but I'm just not doing it accurately, so I have a few questions:

1. I figured out my average delay and second. I create my initial seed, and it has a delay close to my average delay and second. So how come when I soft reset for IVs with the EXACT same time span, it has a slightly different delay. In simpler terms, my average second delay is 11 seconds. I hit continue roughly in the middle between 11 and 12 (so 11 seconds and 50 milliseconds). But, I have delays that are slightly different.

2. I'm really having trouble with the Frames. Every time I create the initial seed, then hatch the egg from the Day-Care, I always have Frames from 3-17. Recently, I've hatched in egg in Frame 6. I go change all the time and date stuff on my DS to the stuff that the Time Finder gives me. I do the EXACT same thing, and I get different frames. If someone could just give me a simple explanation of how the frames are calculated (aside from the Journal pages), I'd greatly appreciate it.

3. Okay, say the Time Finder has my desired Egg IVs with this data:

Year: 2009
Month: 6
Target Time: 15:20:11

Now, I shut off my DS and change it all the data to this, correct:

Year: 6
Month: 6
Time: 15:19:00

Should I go into the game world and soft reset once the time reaches 15:20:00, or should I hit "Pokemon Platinum" on the DS Menu at 15:20:00?

Thanks to anyone who answers any of these questions. I know I didn't word 'em right, but still, it's the thought that counts. :toast:

Yes, that answer if just what I needed =P Thanks, I will try it out =)

When calibrating for Eggs and their frame and stuff, is it a problem if I get to the Fight Area to get a high leveld pokémon? I can't really check IVs in another way.

As everyone can tell, I'm not much of an expert on this, but I think I can help you out since I've had similar problems. I believe when you save the game, you load up the game on the same frame you saved on. Also, the NPCs around you will add to your frame. For each step they take, it'll add one to your frame. I'm not sure if they simply turn and not take any steps affects the frame, but it may.

In order to find out what frame you're on, load up your game and as soon as the game is loaded, talk to the old man and get your egg, but take note of what moved around you. The Buneary is always moving so you'll likely get two frames added. Also be sure to watch the cowgirls on the side. Pacharisu doesn't seem to move too quickly so he shouldn't be much of a problem, but be aware of him as well. Right away catch a Pokemon and check your seed. Use this seed to generate the spreads and frames. Hatch your egg, check your IVs, and see what your hatched Pokemon's IVs are. Depending on what you hatched, you can determine your current frame and plan accordingly. When trying to hit a certain frame, I tend to take into account what the Buneary will do.

As for when to load your game, load your game from a reset, not the DS menu. However, I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

I hope this helps!

Nope. Just be sure to get to the Pokemon before your frames get too high. I actually fly to the Survival Area as there are less people around, making it easier to keep your frames lower.

For clarification purposes if my target frame is 302 I subtract 1 then take 128 steps(with 5 pokes in my party) thus advancing my frame by 5 putting me on frame 6, with 296 frames to go and 148 journal flips to reach my target frame. If the journal says "received poke from so and so" does that count as advancing the RNG

Please read the OP...

- Opening the Journal, or having it automatically open, when there is a caught or defeated Pokémon on the first page advances the RNG by 2 seeds. There are a number of formats for the caught Pokémon text. Those listed below have been verified to advance the RNG.

'Caught a female BIDOOF.'
'Caught AZELF (LATE NIGHT).'
'UXIE was caught (DAY).'
'Defeated a male BIDOOF.'

EDIT: Yes, 148 looks right.
