In RBY you could get a Lv. 5 Machamp by sending over a Lv. 5 Cubone from GSC and then trading with someone in-game.
And I agree that the old rival was better. The new one just doesn't look like as much of a jerk...

And I agree that the old rival was better. The new one just doesn't look like as much of a jerk...
Sugimori's artstyle's definitely improved imo. Though I'm not keen on the glassy-looking eyes that the player characters have had since Emerald. May's R/S art is probably the best player character art imo. The pirate bandana ftw lol, plus Brendan has the stupidest hat ever. A lot stupider than Lucas' flat cap, which I actually thought was quite cool: in Yorkshire, it's actually very common to see old blokes wearing flat caps. Not kids though.
The old Silver really reminds me of this playground bully I knew back at primary school. Looked nothing like him, but had a very similar dress sense and was an absolute plonker. A fat douchebag who was always beating people up, and thought he was great at football. Silver's old appearance doesn't look like someone who would steal things, though: he looks like a bully, but bullies don't steal from authority and they need other people to be confident. The new Silver on the other hand looks like a kind of gothy loner: more likely to 'stick it to the man' and steal a pokémon from authority and also more fitting for a guy who travels alone. Would also be cool if he's the son of Giovanni and Mars. Though Mars... not so sure. She looks 20-ish to me, and perhaps that's too young. And she also says in Platinum that she'll "go back to being a normal girl" or something.

I just wanna ask what's wrong with the HGSS rival looking gay. It looks better imo, since the old one looked like a gangsta wannabe.
So what are the key differences between SoulSilver and HeartGold? I want to know which one is "better" in my eyes; other then the obvious, Groudon + Lugia and Ho-oh + Kyogre.
Those are the only differences we know of iirc. I don't recall, there weren't major differences in Gold and Silver. Besides, isn't Kyogre alone enough to warrant Heart Gold being "better"?
Does anyone else think that Latios will be in SS while Latias is in HG, or the other way around? Nintendo probably wants us to buy both games(Unless they're stupid) so they can get more money out of it, and it seems the best way of doing this is to split up the legends.
Yeah, it makes sense. Then again, I would have thought Lugia + Kyogre + Latios would be in the same game, given their color schemes(I'm color blind, don't quote me on this) as they look similar. However, I hope Latias is in HG, that would be perfect, Latias AND Kyogre?!
Latias, if the Lati's are included, will probably go with Kyogre (like in Sapphire).
I myself found it odd that in Ruby you got Latios and in Sapphire you got Latias, the opposite colors of the game gemstones/cover legend.
IIRC each games respective villainous group picked the opposite color orb, that may be a part of it. Or it could be completely random, but yes, I would think Latias + Kyogre, and Latios + Groudon would be the duos.
Hmm, that would mean they'd have to work in a way to get Seedot/Lotad/Solrock/Lunatone/Seviper/Zangoose in HGSS and we'll be set.
I've never played GSC, but the new rival looks like a girl, seriously. You can tell the difference between a guy with long hair and a girl, this looks like a girl. And he doesn't look evil at all, he looks like a friend rival, like in D/P.

Agreed. It's as if Game Freak's trolling on the people who WANT to relive the 2nd gen era (Luckily, I'm one of the few people who actually hates 2nd gen's guts~), and changing as much as they can to make Hg/Ss... More 4th gen-ish, and remove a good bulk of whatever memories 2nd gen gave people.
Gold lost all of his badass, Silver went girly monk-mode, and hell, Kris got a design remake (Yes, I firmly believe Soul = Kris). I'd actually laugh if Game Freak's plan of making Hg/Ss come true was to tease the G/S fanboys.
You should stick it to em and not buy the games. That'll show them.

Roark, Mars and Silver share the same hairstyle, they're obviously siblings, with Giovanni being their father. Please. Stop caring about something as minor as the hairstyle. I don't think anyone here thinks Blaine is Giovanni's father (and Silver's grandpa? Wow) just because they're bald (either completely or partially).
And how the hell are you seeing a girl in Silver lol, he doesn't have any curves (even by Sugimori's standards), he dresses like a boy, his face and specially his eyes are like a boy's. The only thing that doesn't match is that weird hair, but that's because everybody here got used with Mars. If Roark didn't have that helmet covering most of his hair, people would have a male character to compare Silver with and be done with this.
