Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Is anyone here willing to IM with me to help me learn how to get IV's?
Don't ask questions like this. There's a detailed front page that teaches what to do and videos that serve as visual examples. Read and watch those and then come back with specific questions. This goes for everyone.

I don't quite see what's wrong with the question, I just think it'd be easier for someone to explain it to me as I go along rather than me reading it.

Now for the Journal Flips... how do I do that? How do I even get a Journal Page set up?

That's exactly what is wrong with your question. We wrote the guides and made the videos so that we don't have to explain it step-by-step to everyone who walks into this topic. Sorry to put it bluntly, but no, we are not going to spoon-feed you this stuff.

"We just think it'd be easier if you took the time to read the instructions and watch the videos we've taken our own time to make, instead of acting like a spoiled little brat who feels he's somehow entitled to have someone waste their time explaining from scratch what they've already made into a guide because 'it would be more convenient for you.'"

That's extremely ignorant of me.

I didn't even bother to scroll down to the post by bearsfan with video links.

I am EXTREMELY sorry for the wasted time on your behalf.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I would like to ask a question.

I'm doing this RNG thing to catch a shiny. I don't want a particular spread, nature or anything. Just a shiny.

Just like someone else in this thread (i.e. the guy at page 235) I've problems with this method. No matter what I do, my shinies continue to not appear. I put the right date/time, don't have the Happines Checker selected when I load the save, have 5 Pokémon in my team, catch a level 50+ Pokémon (usually a level 53-54 Fearow, Rhydon or Camerupt), insert the right stats/nature/characteristic, insert the right ID and SID (I double-checked them with Pokésav), check the Shiny Only option, choose "DPPt Egg (Normal)" and click "Generate". I follow the istructions that the program gives me (X Happiness Checker Double Taps and Y Coin Flips), fly to Solaceon, leave the two parents (not foreign ones, they are two Pokémon that I caught on my Platinum), grab the egg, hatch it and get pissed off. I'm 100% sure that I do the taps right, because in one of my tries a shiny frame appeared on the RNG Reporter at frame 3 so I tapped two times on the Coin Flip without going into the Happiness Checker and I got no shiny again.

I've tried to uncheck the "Shiny Only" option to see if my SID was wrong, but no results again. I hatched Pokémon with natures that didn't appear on the RNG Reporter. I tried to make the "DPPt Egg (International)" method, just to double-check that my Pokémon weren't considered foreign. No results here either.

To cut it short, I basically tried everything but I seem to have a different kind of problem. I've found three possible causes:

1) I still have the 3 legendary birds roaming.
2) The Journal pops up when I load my save.
3) I play the Italian version of Platinum.

Any help?

What happens when you get no shiny? Wrong nature or correct nature?

Also, when you unchecked shiny only did you simply collect the first few eggs without doing Poketch application taps and they did not match RNG Reporter output?

Also it really does seem like your SID is wrong if you missed a 2 coin flip Pokemon.

Neku, chances are you're doing the taps wrong. But if you got the right nature, it's like Mingot said, you put in your secret ID wrong.

DELAY: 609 602
FRAME: 12 7 (my target and calibration frame)
SPREAD: A/A/A/20/31/31 31/31/31/31/31/30

This spread should give us a baby with IVs 31 / 31 / 31 / 20 / 31 / 31.

Right click on this frame and select "Generate Adjacent Results". This will bring up a list of results that are close by to make it easier to find where you actually landed when you get an egg and save you the trouble of having to capture another Pokémon to make this determination.

1. Begin your cycle of soft resetting, remembering to set the clock on your DS each and every time so that the time when you "Continue" (your target time) exactly matches what was generated by the time finder.

2. Flip to a page where it says captured/defeated [Pokémon]. Do this three times to advance the frame from 6 to 12. No more, no less. Do not count the journal's initial appearance as a page flip. Each flip to a page with captured/defeated advances the frame by 2, so adjust accordingly based on your calibration frame and your target frame.

3. Close the journal and collect your egg as quickly as possible.

4. Find you location (seconds, delay, and frame) in the list of Adjacent results based on the IVs of the egg. Please note that you may right click in the list of adjacent results and output the entire list to a CSV file. This file can be opened in notepad or as a spreadsheet, which may make it easier to search.

To quickly disqualify resets where either your target time or delay were incorrect you may either immediately capture a Pokémon and check it's initial seed or use the coin flip trick noted in the "Common information for Breeding and Capturing Perfect Pokémon" section. If you are using the coin flip trick you may wish to output your adjacent results to CSV to make it easier to search. If no ar is used and I do the coin flip trick, I can make sure the egg has my desired spread if the 10 flips match the sequence on rng reporter?

6. If the baby in the egg doesn't have the desired IVs repeat steps 1-5.

I just wanted to check if I was doing anything wrong with my info at the top. mostly because I am not really sure if having the same calibration and target frame is alright. is it?

1. It's fine. That just means that you dont need to do anything with the Journal other than close it.

2. Nope, it just ensures you hit your target time and delay correctly. So first do the coin flips, and then if they match check to see if the IVs ar correct.

Help!
Im trying to catch Rotom in my Platinum
It has a frame of 798
798- starting frame = 797 -5 (128 Steps) = 396 flips

The first time I got a frame of 900 so i thought that it was my mistake and the second time i got the same frame :[

Whats happening?

only walk 128 steps when you're not in an area with wild pokemon. Otherwise simply turn opposite direction to gain a frame (it becomes 2 with max repel). I just answered this in the simple questions topic.

I was walking 128 steps with Max repel
SO basically i have to do this:

If my frame is 798

mmmmm
I don't know what do i have to do <.<
Could you explain me?

Im walking in the room that has the tv

EDIT: For example can I do this:

my target frame is 798
I save giving my back to the tv
I can do 396 flips foe get 792 frame

then i activate the max repel
I turn infron of the tv without walking = 2 frames
I turn down = 2 frames
I turn infron of the tv without walking = 2 frames

So there are 6 frames more, and ill get the rotom, or am i wrong O.o?

Okay just to make sure I understood well,
for the method J
-Open Game
-Catch Pokemon for SEED
-Click Method J, Generate
-Will show up a list: Select a Pokemon with desired IV and Nature: Check frame
OR
-Go to Time Finder
-Search for what you want (Enter Frame Delay ect.)
-Select spread change year to satisfy your delay

I know what to do afterwards, but im not sure if im doing the right thing for chosing a spread....Im not sure why you need you need a SEED fo reither..
NVM the SEED thing is just for calibration rite? I tought it was still important

ok i succesfully got a shiny egg and a shiny legendary, now i'm trying to get a scyther whit the IVs i want.
He appear in route 210 and 215 but i got a NPC turning around on both the routes, so, does those NPCs advance the RNG?
If they do how can i hit the right frame and delay?

To get to frame 798 for rotom assuming there are no runners in your game:

1. make sure there are NO repels in effect
2. start in direction facing opposite of TV
Start frame = 1
3. turn around to face TV
Frame status: 1+1=2
4. open journal
Frame status: 2+2=4
5. flip journal pages with captured or defeated pokemon 397 times
Frame status: 4 + (397*2) = 798
6. Press A on TV which in effect meets rotom

If i want to catch a gengar i just have to substract one frame from the original frame right?
1. No need to do step 1 through 3 above.
Start frame=1
2. Open journal
Frame status: 1+2=3
3. flip journal with captured or defeated pokemon 397 times (same as step 5 above)
Frame status: 3 + (397*2) = 797
4. sweet scent for gastly
Frame status: 797+1=798

I hope that's clear enough.

NPC's mouvement or just truning advances the frame...Im not sure how to have a correct frame tough, I only know how to abuse RNG breeding...I heard something with pressing X immediatly stops the NPC from moving, the flip the coin, press X imediatly after pressing the coin (i will still flip when you menu is on), and it'll show if you hitted the rite delay, however I am not certain of this...

Blech! Finding a legendary spread takes time..im not sure if im doing this rite either...
What delay is recomended to put into the Time finder for legendary? I did a huge search but nothin' was found yet.

Thanks man, you are awesome.
Just one more question, those 2 frames that i bolded are only if i have a defeated pokemon when i open the journal, right?

yeah i tried whit pressing X and i think i can stop it from moving.
So last question: Does the rain change the RNG?
