I was Shoddy'ing today, when I noticed that an opponent using Close Combat on my substitute got a defense drop. I assume this is supposed to be the case, but it's nice to be safe. Is that supposed to happen?
In any case it isn't covered in Smogon's Substitute (move) page - should it be? Looking at that page, it seems to aim to be rather thorough...
Yes, that's correct as the move is still used, after all.
Ok so I've already went through over 50 gligar eggs looking for a timid one. My IVs on the parent pokemons are great. I'm trying to make a Pure Baton Passer Gliscor. If you look at the set's nature, it says Timid. I was wondering if it would be okay to use a Jolly Gliscor for the set instead. After all, the set doesn't have any attacks and Gliscor surely won't be using special attacks. Please reply!
I believe the only point in using Timid would be because you hit yourself less hard from confusion. Taunt should prevent most moves like Confuse Ray and switching Machamp into Gliscor to use DynamicPunch is very unlikely.
