I was Shoddy'ing today, when I noticed that an opponent using Close Combat on my substitute got a defense drop. I assume this is supposed to be the case, but it's nice to be safe. Is that supposed to happen?

In any case it isn't covered in Smogon's Substitute (move) page - should it be? Looking at that page, it seems to aim to be rather thorough...

Yes, that's correct as the move is still used, after all.

Ok so I've already went through over 50 gligar eggs looking for a timid one. My IVs on the parent pokemons are great. I'm trying to make a Pure Baton Passer Gliscor. If you look at the set's nature, it says Timid. I was wondering if it would be okay to use a Jolly Gliscor for the set instead. After all, the set doesn't have any attacks and Gliscor surely won't be using special attacks. Please reply!

I believe the only point in using Timid would be because you hit yourself less hard from confusion. Taunt should prevent most moves like Confuse Ray and switching Machamp into Gliscor to use DynamicPunch is very unlikely.

I'm still a noob myself but common sense tells me that a Jolly one should be fine, especially as no Gligar will ever use special attacks. As for the 50 eggs, I can't imagine going that many eggs without a Timid one if you are using standard breeding shortcuts (Everstone on the mom with the nature you want). Honestly, if you really want a Timid Gilgar, you'll save yourself time and sanity by catching a new Timid mom (if your current mom isn't Timid which sounds like the case) with good IVs and rebreeding than hoping for that 1/25 chance that the next egg will you hatch will have the right nature if you let the game randomly generate natures for you. Good luck and be sure to check the breeding guide on this site as I've found it super helpful and I bet you will too.

Ummm, if you have no attacks then there's no difference between -SAtk +Spd or -Atk + Speed.

I'm trying to follow "bearsfan092drums" RNG Abuse: Egg IVs videos. I made it to the second video, meaning the daycare man has an egg with the appropriate Nature waiting for me. I saved it (before picking up the egg, of course) last night and I haven't booted it up since. Am I able to pick up where I was (meaning I should begin searching for my Initial Seed followed by my current saved Frame) without any problems, or will the change in time and date drastically alter the results?

If anyone has any knowledge as to how I could possibly fix my shoddy battle problem of "Unable to launch application" it would be greatly appreciated. Just to let everyone know who reads this, yes I have gone over to the shoddy battle help thread and posted for help but, everyone just ignores me there. I even sent two PM's each to both bearzly and ColinJF+ but, they don't PM me back with help so I thought the best last resort place to ask would be here. Thanks if anyone can help me:D

No I don't think it does, magic coat as far as I know only reflects back status affects such as leech seed (not really status effect persay), will-o-wisp, thunder wave.

Quick question-

Does Magic Coat reflect back the effects of Taunt?

Actually I think it does.

Magic Coat reflects Mean Look and Baton Pass (I learned this in my own experience, not sure if I'm mixing it up with something, although I don't think I am), so I'm guessing it will reflect back Taunt.

The RNG abuse method doesn't care about nature, so use the wrong nature stuff.

Details about it can be found in Wi-fi.

Thanks for the response, but what if I dont use RPG abuse and wanna use the standard method? Would breeding without everstone be viable still?

Hasty

Draco meteor
Outrage
Dragon Dance
Fireblast

I've gone with Hasty as want to Have Speed yet still and hit for neutral damage on both sides of defence/special defence. Max speed is also something i would like just after a dragon dance to deal with all threats that are scarfed like Flygon.

thanks

actually I'm pretty sure it doesn't reflect back Taunt. it used to on Shoddy a few months back but my understanding is that this was incorrect and was fixed. I Magic Coated an Azelf's Taunt today but I was still Taunted (I used it because I remembered it used to reflect Taunt but I forgot it was glitched heh).

i use that exact same set and i tend to use 66Atk/192Spe/252Satk
As when you switch in draco meteor will be main attack and you want that to be doing the most damage and also even after drops you can ko scizor with a FB

I need the same help as shelcario. I posted on the shoddy forum twice, and with no answers

Switching to OpenDNS and restarting the computer worked for me.

Looking for a good revenge killer. Current team is: Azelf, Blissey, Mixape, Skarmory, Gengar. I'd prefer physical, would Scizor be viable?

I've been playing Emerald as of late (SR'ing, breeding, cloning), and I'm trying to complete the Dex in Emerald with the hopes of using that cart to help complete my Dex on Platinum. I'm searching for the other GBA games that I don't have so that I can complete the Dex, but I have one small question.

Suppose I'm playing my Emerald cart on my Nintendo DS Lite, and I need to trade some Pokes over from R/S/FR/LG, can I use my Gameboy ADV to trade? In other words, can my ADV communicate with the my DS when I'm playing an ADV game? Or do I need that ridiculous wireless attachment for the ADV?

Nope, you'll need two GBA/SP's and either one link cable or two of those wireless adapters bundled with FR/LG.

I'd say you need a bulky water. Try gastrodon. You could give scarf a gengar. Hypnosis/shadowball/focus blast/tbolt modest scarfer would make a good revenge killer.

Okay, so i'm still going for the timid gligar i need for a pure baton passer gliscor. I was wondering if the ability of the mother pokemon affects the baby pokemon's ability at all. The player's guide says it does, but i've had a lot of babies with a different ability than the mother. Ex: If the mother has Hyper Cutter, will the baby have a higher chance of having Hyper Cutter? Thanks in advance.

@Vaporize: No, the parents natures have no influence.
EDIT: Why Timid? As stated previously, Jolly's better, as it allow for physical moves, if you ever decide to add any.

Who could I add to this team line up? It's been a very succesful team, but I find that the one slot has often let it down. It's rotated between SD Lucario and DD Mixmence, and both have proven to be pretty fail. It needs to be an offensive pokemon, as the rest of the team;
-Azelf (Suicide Lead)
-Blissey
-Skarmory
-Rotom-A
-Tentacruel

Is mostly defensive. Any ideas?
