Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

You'll be in grass anyway, it's much easier to just turn on spot without even moving. Remember a turn or a step in grass = 1. So make one turn, and you'll be at 840. Then do 420 flips.

1 turn then 420 flips then sweet scent. Got it. Thanks. wish me luck. XD

Okay this didn't work.. I did all that then I used sweet scent and got an Adamant Illumise 15/2/24/4/14/20. What do I do now?
EDIT, I tried using the Illumise to get my initial seed and it said to check the date and time. They have to be correct since I had to SR at a certain time...

I hit the seed. Coin flip confirmed it. Captured Darkrai confirmed it.

I'm using a Syncer and have it down that I'm using one.

This is becoming a real headache.

Even if my SID was wrong, the spread should still be the same.

all4game - If you are going for scyther, it is probably a NPC moving. Instead of saying I got this, check what frame it is and see how many you were off.

volch - Same thing, check the frame you got darkrai on. That will show you what went wrong in trying to get Darkrai. Maybe you caught or have more than 1 roamer.

Volch, in one post it says you hit the right frame. If it had the wrong IVs and nature, then you hit the wrong seed, if you hit the frame with the right seed and it had the right nature and IVs, you have the wronf ID/SID entered in somewhere.

Instead of just posting it didnt work find out what went wrong.

I'm thinking I'm just going to RNG abuse for shinies, and just breed the normal way for the IVs, that seems to be the easiest way for me:D

volch - use the Darkrai and get the initial seed. Then click generate with the seed from darkrai and look at the list at the bottom. Find out which one the Darkrai is on. Make sure you have method J and the syncher still.

all4game - Find the NPCs on the route that move that are relatively close and stop them moving. If you are on diamond, you have to battle the guy who keeps turning south of the patch, and you should be fine.

Ok, I've tried everything possible for the past 5 hours and cannot get this to work.

My calibration: 14, 604.

I'm trying to use it to capture a shiny pokemon with 31 atk and 31 spe (as a test). I've got my sID and I get the initial seed and stuff, but when I do the coin flip test it gets messed up. I would be really grateful if anyone could help =] .

Alright, this is something I had never known about: the Pre/Post E4 Legendary Birds note on the first page.

If I'm understanding this correctly does this mean I could use rng to get a good Zapdos before beating the E4, then after beating it, go back and reset the stats of Articuno and Moltres in order to get a second shot at a shiny/flawless/whatever bird?

Also, activating them the first time requires only the National Dex, right?

Okay I did that and tried again and got bold ariados, frame 1137. Although I'm pretty sure I counted wrong, I doubt I was THAT far off. :pirate:

If I'm in an area with no grass, is a turn + step considered a "double step" like it would be in a grassy area? In other words, does it contribute 2 towards the 128 I need to advance the RNG?

You're on Rt.229 aren't you? That's the place I first tried to catch an RNG abused Gyarados. Doesn't work, that idiot under the patch keeps turning even after you battle him. I'd consider RNG breeding if you want a nice Scizor.

If you're in an area with no grass, then every 128 steps you take advances your RNG by the number of pokemon in your party. Turns do not count if you're not in grass.

Okay, I just want to make sure that this process is correct. Let me know if you see any flaws.

I want to get a Giratina in Platinum with IVs 31/x/31/31/31/x and and a Bold nature. To do this, it said that I had to hit frame 430. I clicked on Generate Times, and it gave me a date of 7/31/09 time 15:31:00 delay 601. I then set my DS clock to that date at 15:30:00. Then, I load the game and reset at 15:30:48 because my delay time is 12 seconds. Once the game boots up that time, I make sure if I hit my time by using the Coin Toss application and flipping it 10 times, looking for HHTTHHHTHT because that is what Seed to Times told me. If that checks out, to hit frame 430, I must subtract 12 for battling with Giratina, making it 418. Then I divide that by 2 to be 209. Then I simply journal flip 209 times and battle and catch Giratina.

And all of that will give me my desired spread? This will be my first attempt at RNG abuse, thanks in advance for any help :)

Okay, I've now done this twice, and the result has been the same. I get a Giratina that is Adamant 16/23/20/9/5/24. This can only result from the seed F80F0262 at frames 351, 429, 441, and 457. I just don't understand how this would happen. I simply ran the 10 coin tosses to confirm that I had hit the seed, opened up my Journal, turned to a page that had one of the catch lines, turned to an adjacent one that had that line, and rinsed and repeated. Does turning to a page that doesn't have one of these messages up the frame count? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Of course they would still have the same seeds, but I still don't know why I'm not getting the right frame, especially since I've done nothing to oddly increase the frames, at least to my knowledge :(

Try simply catching one as soon as you enter the game and verifying that is on frame 12. If it is not, adjust accordingly. Some people have reporter seeing this on different frames.
Okay, I've done this, and it is either on frame 12 or 14. But even that would not explain how I went up oddly. I'm completely lost as to what I am doing incorrectly.

Theres gotta be a way to get this scyther. DX
And I never saw him turn.. even tho I wasn't looking.. hm.

He's the one across from that female trainer. You're doing everything else right, so if you manage to get the Scyther you want, let me know, I need a nice Scizor too.

I'll keep trying. XD
Also I switched to frame 684, 31/30/31/27/31/31, so it's less flips which should make it easier.

But I just saw the dude move. How much does this advance it by?

Not sure, but even if I did, no one knows how to predict NPC movement yet. I'd give up after another try. Maybe you can try to get the perfect Scizor at Giveaways.

Darn. And moving to the opposite side of the route doesn't help?
Also I just realized that theres no encounter slots for Scizor at 684 or others, the best option is the 800 one i was doing earlier.

But I guess I'll try something else now.
I have breeding for IVs down, I just wanted to catch something.
Now I have to pick a new pokemon. XD

I hit my seed for a gengar in the old chateau and sweet scented it, but instead I find a lax ghastly with poor ivs..
could someone explain this? do you only find gengars at night or something?

You hit your seed but did you hit your frame as well?

Well you should just catch a scyther and RNG breed it. If you have breeding for IVs down, I might start learning how to do that soon, may I ask you for help?
