That's not a very nice thing to say.
Joke lol. Though somehow making it to the world championships then going 0-5 means he either got lucky repeatedly then his luck ran out, or he was losing on purpose.

And Katsuyuki Tsuji: that guy's a beast! What's he using? My bet is that he'll win.

And on another note, at least Smogon got 2 of the DSis. I'd love to see if they were special ones.

Looks like it's all over that. Congratulations to everyone involved, really.
Except John Michael Freeman.

What? Why are you singling out John Michael Freeman?

Well tommorow once we have the video number of that final (they better give us it..) then we can look back and reflect more.

The final won't be a video number, it'll be played on Pokemon Battle Revolution.

Speaking of video numbers, I recorded the match of my first match with Shoe, 36-03894-05640. I thought it was a damn fine and close match, well worth watching.

My girlfriend speaks Japanese, and pointed out I was the US national champion to the visiting host of Pokemon Sunday, just as he was finishing an interview. So now we're probably going to be on Japanese national television.

And the U.S. vs. Japan score is not settled yet. She also talked to Japan's national champion, Takahiro Akai, and now we're going to battle tomorrow after the tournament.

The one guy at 0-5, lol. Should've been to Smogon.

Battle sounds great, though. Too bad Shoe lost in the best-of-3. Did you like his team? :P

Whoah, and something really cool that I just noticed: the scoreboard's mirrored! It goes in the order of 1 5-0, 4 4-1s, 9 3-2s, 9 2-3s, 4 1-4s, 1 0-5. Unless that usually happens in Swiss which would make sense.

I'm guessing that everyone that went down to the event is still there.
I just got home from there actually. If anyone down there remembers me i'm the, uh, short asian kid next to PBB. Bah.

I have the recording of Huy, aka batpig on his last two matches of Day 2's Swiss round up the battle 3 of round 5 where my camera decided to die. I'll most likely have it up tomorrow. Damn amazing match came up to Rock Slide missing and giving Huy the win for the 2nd battle of round 5.

It was pretty cool meeting some smogon people even though obviously none of them have heard of me. I had to leave before the top 8 was announced but congrats to batpig on hitting 7th, ipl on 8th (though I didn't see him). Yammega is gay also.

uh, end shitty post.

Hasn't been the final yet. I'm going for Kazuyuki Tsuji though. Hasn't lost a single game yet, and Tasuku Mano's team doesn't really seem like a winner- Zapdos/Hippowdon/Rhyperior/Metagross.

Woot, my brother came 8th in Juniors :P He needed a new DS, since his DS lite's hinge is broken. Does anyone know what the other prizes for 8th place would be (maybe based on last year's)?

Also, I dared him to try and get my Pokemon Amethyst (a fangame I'm working on) box signed by one of the Game Freak guys. I wonder if they'd do it.

On the world championship site it says the prizes for 3rd-8th place are:

  • A Customized Pokémon Nintendo DSi™
  • A Pokémon prize pack

One friend has told me Santa Ito has won some minutes ago in Junior category. Can anyone confirm me this?

And I still wonder how the hell someone with an Hippowdown and Shedinja in same team can reach the final of World Cup.

I know, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the Pokemon prize pack contains. If you take out the DSi, that's still $300ish worth of prizes.

so 3 rain teams made it to the finals wow. and did anyone record any footage of the final 4 matches? we need the info for next year.lol

Did anyone get a Weavile? I'd really appreciate a clone if possible :) IVs are a non-issue really.

Hey friend, maybe he should have been to Smogon, but you should try competing in a tournament. In any swiss round, someone loses all their matches, someone wins all their matches, and usually the spread is mirrored. You would know that if you managed to play at worlds.

Love,

John Michael Freeman

Thanks Mike. :) If anyone has a right to make fun of me, it's you lol.

Coming to you live from worlds

Well I am currently at worlds right now about to get something of mine signed by Mr. Masura and decided to write down what i have thought about my time at worlds. This is a huge event while most of it is centered around cards it is pretty fun. I have talked with a bunch of competitors here that contribute to this site alot and have fround that they are pretty fun to hang out with. The meta game for pokemon is actually alot larger than i expected and changes from the junior level to the senior level. I personally think that the junior level is much more entertaining to watch because where else can you see a snorlax belly drum and a dusknoir psych up and have that team get away with it.

The finals are about to start in a little while and it seems pretty interesting for the seniors because the teams are not what i expected to be in the finals. Who would have thought that a Yanmega would show up and sweep in the hands of a clever trainer. The other team being a rain dance team minus rain which leaves makes me think of only mirror b and his dancing companion ludicolo.

Overall i have enjoyed the time i have spent in san diego and at the pokemon tournament. Now it is time for me to go and watch the finals.

The next year will be uber battles so this doesn't matter, anyways i'd like to see them too, but not for the info xD
