This Room is Tricky (An Ubers Warstory)

Hey everyone, this is my first warstory, I hope it’s decent.

Background:

So I came back to ubers from a long break to find my record had dropped to 1312. Not content to be a noob, I really wanted to get it to 1337, since that is a "pro" number. When I climbed the ladder last time, every win gave me 3 points. Off I go uber battling, and the name Pirika pops up twice. He beats me twice.

I was going to call it a night, when I realized I was only 3 points from 1337, and I ran into Pirika again.

Also, this took place at 1 AM.
NOTE: My playstyle is always thinking one to two turns ahead. Rarely do I go into the Think Tank, as a result, most of my plans/thoughts take about 2-4 lines to explain.

The battle begins with my Lead Pinsir vs his Lead Bronzong. My Pinsir is meant to take out any Psychic leads, 2hko Dialga leads, weaken Kyogre leads so Kingdra can setup, and generally do damage, but my Pinsir fails pretty badly against Bronzong. I remember his Bronzong running Stealth Rock, Trick Room, and Explosion, but I don't know the last move. I decide switch to my TrickBand Lugia and cripple one of his pokemon, since I don't remember Choiced pokemon in our other matches. He gets up stealth rock.

That was very unfortunate, I wasn't expecting that much. This puts me in a bad position, as it will be hard to get Lugia in now. Luckily for me, he is locked into pursuit and will switch out. In our last match, he switched in Bronzong to take my Mixed Dialga's Earth Power. I'll outpredict him and go to Kyogre, who will get rain up and do a number to Bronzong with rain-boosted STAB surf.

My prediction was right, woohoo. Now I have rain up, but I know that he also likes the rain. I know he runs Trick Room on his Bronzong, but I know that he has a Palkia ready to soak up Surfs like in our other matches, I think I will use thunder just to be safe. I also came to the realization here that I hadn't done any damage at all yet.

My prediction paid off! (Again.) I hit for 50%, this could be a 2hko. I sure hope it is, because I know his Palkia knows Trick Room. If he gets a Trick room off my team will fare pretty badly, especially the Kingdra I have waiting in the wings. Another piece of bad luck, he becomes paralyzed, so now no one will have even a slight chance to outspeed him under Trick rom. Let's go for that 2hko.

Thank you hax gods for that rousing 6% critical hit. There was a bit of hax with Palkia being fully paralyzed, but I couldn't really do anything about it and it would've died anyways. Not shocking me very much, since I had already seen it in the last two matches, he brings in Kyogre. Time for a thunder war. To my supreme glee, things played out like I wanted. The Hax gods did not show their faces, and I got the kill. There is only one more turn of Trick Room left. I'll let Kyogre abuse that last turn, die and then send in a nice, fast pokemon. I really hope that he doesn't find an oppurtunity to Trick Room after this one expires, but their is no telling who he will send out now, since all four of his pokemon have full health. Pirika is really stressing my brain this late at night, I may have a two pokemon lead, but he really knows how to turn things around. !!!! I definately wasn't expecting an explosion, as he could have survived my surf ( 68.34% - 80.47%). The hax gods showed their face, but we would have both died either way. My plan was a success, Kyogre used the last trick room turn up and died. Now I can send in a fast pokemon to wreak havoc on his slower team. Ahhhhhh, this won't end! I never thought he would use Earthquake! I wanted Lugia to die, but he predicted a switch (Good thinking on his part.) Someone has to switch, so I guess I will. Scanning through my remaining pokemon, they all get hit by Earthquake...wait, whats this? My Gengar is ready to go. I'll send him in, that will make him switch. My Gengar is Scarfed Shadow Ball/Focus Blast/HP ice/Thunder. I think I will use Focus Blast for neutral damage on Metagross, and super effective damage on Dialga. While unseen in this battle so far, I know he has a Dialga and it is just waiting to use Trick Room when I'm helpless.

Heh, that was my completely lying about my move choice, trying to make up for my terrible prediction. Pirika's nice prediction has placed me in a HUGE predicament. He shows the Dialga I knew he had from our previous maches. I can't stop him from getting trick room up. I'll have to switch, but he might attack instead. I'll sacrifice Lugia now to be completely safe. He will get Trick Room up anyways if he uses it, but if he doesn't, and he attacks, he won't hit anything.

Crap...He took advantage of my predicament. My Lugia dies, and he gets Trick Room up. Now I have to decide who to send in to wage war. In our previous battles, I don't remember any moves that could seriously hurt Pinsir...so he seems like the best choice, but I don't really remember any of the moves. Maybe if I am lucky, he will switch out because he knows my Pinsir knows Earthquake. That would be great because it wastes a turn of trick room, and allows me to survive one turn longer.

Ouch... I just lost 25% of my health to a 1-turn Entry Hazard. (I don't like stealth rock....at all.) Luckily though, I did scare Dialga off, thus wasting a turn of trick room, just three more to survive. Unfortunately, Pinsir's earthquake is sponged by Heracross. Ok...I did not see that coming. Not one to fall for my tricks, Pirika doesn't switch, and damages me. This is somewhat problematic to my plan. My Kingdra runs Dragon Dance/Draco Meteor/Waterfall/Outrage with the item Life Orb. I have a bad feeling that pursuit's extra damage is going to end my sweep early. On the plus side, I am now setup, so I can KO his Metagross now and attempt the sweep.

I decide to Outrage immediately because he doesn't have a Dragon-resisting steel type left. Fortunately, I use up another turn of trick room. Unfortunately, my damage to Heracross was underwhelming. that was probaly a very funny battle,i normaly use lugia for a calm mind sweep, not trick, since has you could see,it dont really pay off most of the time,BUT,i did like that warstory, way to go!

O_O Pinsir. Good warstory, but just like Wolfy said, warstories where you know their team (usually) arent as good as the ones you dont.

Good warstory, and some interesting pokes on both sides. The fact that you guys knew each other's teams doesn't, in my opinion, make the battle less interesting. I don't know why everyone says that, considering most people spout "prediction is just glorified guessing, blah blah blah," and in a battle like this, you are both able to make more informed predictions and it adds an extra layer of mind games.

I've had my score at 1337, got a screenshot somewhere :P

nice battle and nice teams, although you knowing it beforehand kinda took away from the story

Only nitpick I have is that the Trick / Earthquake war between Lugia and Metagross would have ended eventually. Metagross would run out of Earthquakes first then finish you off with Struggle, though of course he did switch before that anyway, to a Heracross that probably didn't mind Choice Band too much, so whatever.

Anyway, decent warstory which was nice to see given the lack of them recently.

Also, call me ignorant, but what is the folklore behind the 1337 rating?

Nice Puff. A very fun warstory to read, and I've always wanted to see how Ubers worked with Trick Room.

It's good to know that Pinsir is a viable lead in both NU and Ubers!

Thanks for the comments guys. I thought my first one would suck...horribly, but I guess not. (In some of your opinions at least.)

Although I don't play Ubers much, I still enjoyed this warstory with the prediction, humor and surprisingly original teams :D

8.5/10

Love the teams (nice change of pace from the usual, you know) but if I have to nitpick a bit.

The "Hax Gods" got really old after awhile. I'm not talking about the hax themselves, I'm talking more about the reference to it. You did stop saying it about halfway through, which was nice, but it was a big turn off. The rapid-fire usage does 2 things in my mind: 1.) it says you have no idea what a thesaurus is, and 2.) It comes off really whiny. Luke Skywalker whiny.

All in all I must say it was a great first warstory. I've read better, but I've also read much worse.

By the last few times I used it, it was 2 AM. I couldn't think of anything else to say. Thanks for the criticism though, I like people who give *constructive* criticism. :)
