My entry for this week's WSC. Snowy Mountain Yak/Ox thing go ! Gonna makes updates...

I've been doing nothing all day =( Except doing a lot of work on this Jirachi pixel over. It's pretty awesome. It should be done soon.

Maybe I won't enter this week's WSC......that Snorlax scarf is not turning out too well.

@1337- I don't see a problem with the shading, really. But one of the lines of his little star headdress thing is all wonky. It's the one on the right of the top point of the star.

Other than that, I love it!

@Wombat- Um...all images are made of pixels. A pixel-over is taking the image and making the pixels a uniform color instead of a bajillion different shades representing one color. I probably phrased that wrong, but oh well.

@Toaster- Please tell me you didn't resize that sprite at all. It looks very, very distorted.

@Wombat: This should explain pixel overs if you need help.

@Fuzz: I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I think I fixed it.

Thanks for the critique.

Quite welcome. X3 And yeah, you got it.

Going to my gram's again today. Suggestions for scratches, anyone? And yes, I'll revise the Draggy once I feel like it.

Have you gotten that mouse TV suggested yet?

I don't know what to suggest to scratch.........oh, I've got it. Scratch Tyranitar. It's a bit harder than D-nite, so I'll see how you do.

Tyrannitar. Sure, I'll give it a go.

Actually, I have. X3 Just not with me. Out of the blue, my dad brought me back a Wacom tablet from his work yesterday. It came with a mouse and everything. I'm going to get around to installing it and stuff when I get home. =D Needless to say, I was overjoyed.

EDIT: To do a scratch of T-Tar, it appears I'm going to have to sketch an outline myself. For now, I'm going to do something smaller/easier with an outline I can trace.

I'm trying a pixel-over, with Wailmer. I outlined it in black, but on Cave of Dragonflies the picture shows the Scyther with ONLY the outline, and the rest is white. Do I just use the eraser really carefully to do this?

Yes, you can do that, although I find it more precise using the pencil tool. Just select white with the color picker and go nuts. If you go too crazy and mess up the outline, remember to click on "Undo" under the Edit tab. Really good for fixing stuff like that. I have a bit of experience in things like this 'cause all of my scratches are pixel-overs made from my own scetches.

Not sure if i did this right, but this is my Wailmer pixel-over. I used:

images

as the original.
Could someone name all the flaws for me please?

I'm sure you can see pretty much all of the flaws yourself. But you did good for a first try.

Mainly, the outline is jagged and does not look much like the original picture. The shading needs quite a bit of work as well.

Just remember that a pixel over is supposed to look like a resized sprite of the original picture, and you should do well.

P.S: The thumbnail option works amazingly well for pixel overs. Just do
View--->Zoom--->Show Thumbnail
and a little window that shows what your image looks like fully zoomed out should pop up. It's dynamic too, so you can watch yourself make changes at normal magnification.

thanks

Well, since my Jirachi pixel over turned out so amazing, I decided to do another pixel over. I chose Skymin because it was so conveniently located very close to my Jirachi pixel over, and because it's medium sized.
It's coming along quite nicely, just have to touch up the entire outline as well as finish the shading and eye.

Man, I really need to work on that math project.
