@1337ness: Oh, I will be. I'm a pretty fast learner. I've done about 10 recolors so far, just to get my feet wet. I don't want to rush it and then end up frustrated when I suck. I'm scouting out the mechanics. :]

EDIT: Have any suggestions for some early fusions I should try?

Raikizen, glad to hear you're getting into fusions. For starters, it's good to use Pokemon that have the same general body shape. Circular is easy IMO. Try Voltorb and Drifloon perhaps - that's one of the ones I did early on.

@Alch: If you are going to flip parts of metagross around, you have to change the shading after you flip them. Otherwise you get Multi-Light Source Syndrome (MLSS). And second of all, the lines on his stomach don't fit. They just look like, well, lines, and they don't resemble metagross. I see what you mean, and I was iffy about the lines too.

Wobbulass's belt thing needs some line art work, and pretty much all of the scratched parts in general. Yeah I'm not a great scratcher

Wobbunite's stomach thing shouldn't go up to his mouth. And the tail needs some work on shading and the outline. I realised the thing about the mouth but I haven't fixed it yet.

Wobeowth's legs are the biggest problem, they don't fuse smoothly on you sprite. You have to make the legs look like they're part of a sprite, not some random thing you copy/pasted on. Yeah but Meowth and Wobbuffet aren't exactly the most fuseable sprites xD

But they're all decent. The biggest problem you have is scratching stuff, and you need to work on that. That's what I'm doing each time I sprite, practice practice practice :D

Thanks for the critique!

EDIT: I may also be reviving my Art thread! So be sure to drop by.

Yeah, some sprites aren't too fusable XD

@Raikizen: The thing is, recolors require so little effort and brain power that a caveman could do one. The only time it gets hard is when you have to create colors.
And don't worry about rushing. I did two recolors before I tried fusing something (well, the first real fusion I did was my fifth sprite). Just start easy, like Eevee/teddiursa.

And, viola! Driftorb! I'm actually kind of proud of it. ^o^ It being my first fusion and all. I actually spent more time getting used to paint.NET than actually using it though. xD

And can someone do a revamp of this please:

Yes it's 3rd gen, but I prefer this pose to it picking its nose and looking like it's on drugs =/
No-one seems to have acknowledged this at all.

P.S. Visit my new art thread! (Advertising isn't against the rules is it? o.O)

Raikizen - that's good for a first fusion. However you should always remember to recolour the outline as well as the body when fusing two sprites together. Also when you're adding parts from a different Pokemon to another, make sure the shading matches. Voltorb's light source is from the top-left, while Drifloon's head fluff looks like the light source is from the top-right. Remember - fusions aren't just sticking parts together, remember to recolour properly and match the shading.

Great job :).

Yay another spriter so I'm not the newest (or one of them)! And yes the head fluff's shading is off from the rest of the sprite. Lol the nose looks funny (not your fault, whoever designed Drifloon).
EDIT: Behold! I'm an Artist Now! I hope advertising is allowed, since Alch didn't get in trouble.

@Chaos: You're right... I totally forgot about the lighting source when adding the head fluff. I just fixed that now. I also redid Voltorbs reddish outline in black to match up with the rest of it and with Drifloon's black outline.

@Wombat: Yeah... That nose was horrible to scratch on. It doesn't really "fit" on Voltorb's body, which added to awkward dimensional aspects. Any ideas on how I could fix the nose, or is it just one of those "Looks weird no matter what, things."?

I'm going to get this one perfect before I move onto another, so any more c+c?

EDIT: @Wombat: That's not what I was implying. lol I just meant that I agree, that nose is really hard to do on anything but Drifloon.

I'm not saying you scratched the nose wrong, I'm saying whoever invented Drifloon made a weird nose. But way to fix the shading.

I made two new fakemon:

ice comet pokemon

shrimp pokemon

These look quite good! However the forearms of the shrimp look slightly malformed to me.

And Wombat, no I didn't get in trouble... yet :D

And is anyone going to 4th generise that Slaking for me? :(

The Ice Comet is pretty cool. I just have a few questions about it. What are those inverted horns on the back of it for? They kind of distract me from the rest of the image. The other is about that... Thing on the right side of the sprite. Erm... What exactly is it? It looks really good, I just can't figure out what it is meant to be.

I've been doing nothing all day except playing this very addicting flash game.....I've gotten nothing done. Luckily, labor day is tomorrow :DD

I'm close to finishing the rework of my skymin line work. Expect it tomorrow.

My newest batch of fusions has come through!

My favorite is Grass type Lairon. I made the armor look like bamboo shoots and the horn a checkered leaf pattern. But when I look back, all of theme seem pretty good...

Is the shrimp edible? I like shrimp. (Not really.) Anyway, those look really good. But I have the same question as Raikizen.

Huh...
First post over 200!

most need some work, but show some promise. Raichu/blastoise, jolteon/pachirisu, and rhyhorn/scyther/gabite stand out. Also a fan of pikachu/goldeen, but idk if it has enough impact.

I sure as heck hope you got permission to request a sprite based off of someone else's art, Mordock. But, I should know soon enough... :\

Colors taken from Fearow (Red), and Staraptor (Black&Orange)

Compliments to Regi DS as original artist.

Great sprite X. Looks more like a fire type than a flying type to me though.

@Felix: Pretty much everything GTS said. But some of them are really bad though. Like Mew/Porygon-Z, Regizard, Metagross/Charizard/Blaziken, and a few others.
But some of them are pretty good. Tauros/Machamp is IMO one of those.

dont you like the registeel+charizard?? everyone likes it lol

they are not really bad tho.. just not as good

Welcome to Smogon!

But this isn't really the sort of attitude you should take when you put your sprites up for critique. Don't think you're terrible because people say they're bad - we're trying to help you improve!

And some of them are pretty cool, Voltorb + Hariyama is a really cool idea XD

Keep working at it and have fun!
