[OVERVIEW]

Totodile is a solid option for a Water-type in Little Cup. It has fairly good stats, access to both Swords Dance and Dragon Dance and STAB Aqua Jet. A Totodile that has set up can be difficult to stop without something like Croagunk on your team. However, Totodile does have some problems setting up without screens. Still, you don't want to underestimate this little crocodile. The only word that can describe a Totodile sweep is "Crikey!"

[SET]
name: SD Dile
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Return
move 4: Crunch / Ice Punch / Waterfall
item: Life Orb
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly
evs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 4 Def / 232 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This is probably Totodile's most dangerous. After one turn of set up, Totodile becomes a huge threat.

To show how powerful a Life Orb and Swords Dance boosted Aqua Jet is, here are some calculations:

+2 Aqua Jet vs. 36 HP / 36 Def Aron - 109.09% - 136.36% (OHKO)

+2 Aqua Jet vs. 236 HP / 236 Def Gligar - 76.92% - 100.00% (2HKO, 74% chance of an OHKO)

+2 Aqua Jet vs. 196 HP / 116 Def Phanpy - 92.86% - 114.29% (58% chance to OHKO)

+2 Aqua Jet vs. 220 HP / 148 Def Bronzor - 48.00% - 60.00% - (3HKO with Oran, 2HKO if it has a low damage roll, followed by a high damage roll)

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The last moveslot is up to personal preference. Crunch is great, since it allows you to OHKO Duskull and Slowpoke. However, Ice Punch allows you to hit bulky Grass-types like Shroomish and Paras harder, who would love to put Totodile to sleep. Ice Punch also hits Ground-types, in particular Gligar, harder than Aqua Jet does. Waterfall provides Totodile with a stronger STAB and hits anything that does not resist it for a lot of damage. A Jolly nature is recommended, but not only because of the added Speed; if you run an Adamant nature, you have to sacrifice an HP point in order to max out Speed, reducing Totodile's survivability. Additionally, an Adamant nature doesn't help you score any more valuable KOs on Pokémon like Bronzor than Jolly does. Life Orb is going to be your item of choice, since it provides Totodile the power to score most of the above OHKOs and 2HKOs.

Like most sweepers, Totodile greatly benefits from Stealth Rock and screen support. Stealth Rock helps Totodile score an OHKO on defensive Gligar, who would otherwise never be OHKOed. Dual screens allow Totodile to set up easier and help it take hits more effectively. Type-wise, Bronzor and Pineco are the best options, since Totodile can switch in on the Fire-type attacks they attract. Encore support also makes Totodile's job much easier. Scarf Wynaut is the best at the job, since it outspeeds Pokémon like Swords Dance Krabby and forces them to keep setting up until Wynaut leaves the battle. Totodile can then easily use Swords Dance as the opposing Pokémon switches out. Ledyba is another great option, since it can both use Encore and set up dual screens.

Croagunk and Mantyke are Totodile's mortal enemies. They can both switch in on Aqua Jet and KO Totodile. Croagunk can be stopped by Scarf Gligar, who easily shrugs off Vacuum Wave and Sucker Punch. Gastly and Drifloon also work well, despite Sucker Punch, because Gastly can put Croagunk to sleep with Hypnosis, and Drifloon can set up Substitute, while Croagunk attempts to KO them with Sucker Punch. Mantyke can be easily stopped by Chinchou, since Chinchou resists everything Mantyke can throw at it, aside from the rare HP Grass. Chinchou can then proceed to OHKO Mantyke with Thunderbolt. Speaking of Chinchou, it is another Pokémon that causes Totodile trouble, since it resists Aqua Jet and has Thunderbolt to subdue to it. Scarf Gligar can switch in on Thunderbolt and Earthquake Chinchou, but will have trouble if Chinchou uses Agility. Munchlax can handle most of Chinchou's attacks, and hit back hard with Earthquake. Staryu is also a pain, since it is faster and has Thunderbolt. Elekid or Scarf Magnemite can handle Staryu as well, and other Water-types.

[SET]
name: Flail
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Flail
move 4: Substitute
item: Salac Berry / Liechi Berry
ability: Torrent
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set has ridiculous power behind it, but is a little more risky. With this set, you can easily activate Torrent, which raises Aqua Jet to an impressive 90 Base Power (including STAB), and with a Swords Dance under its belt, Totodile is hitting like a ton of bricks. Flail, though, is the magic of this set. Since Fail's Base Power increases as the user's HP decreases, Totodile can Substitute down to one HP, making Flail reach a ridiculous 200 Base Power. Combine that with a Swords Dance or two, and Totodile can rip teams to shreds. However, this set comes with a huge risk when using it. Snover is becoming very common, and Hail absolutely ruins Flail. Also, faster priority users, like Elekid and Croagunk, can cause this set trouble. Despite these risks, this set can dish out heavy damage and is perfect for daring players, or players who just want to use something less common.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Salac Berry helps Totodile with its Speed issue. With a Salac boost, Totodile reaches 21 Speed, allowing it to outspeed Pokémon like Life Orb Elekid and Houndour, and beat their priority moves with Aqua Jet. Liechi Berry can be used as a safe and surefire way to get an Attack boost, if you are unable to Swords Dance. Unlike the standard SD Dile, this set can fully use an Adamant nature. Since investing in HP is actually bad for this set, Totodile can fully focus on maxing both its Speed and Attack, while still getting an extra point in Defense. With this spread, Totodile reaches 14 Speed, making it in a perfect for a Salac boost.

This set is very vulnerable to priority and weather. Croagunk utterly destroys this set, so Scarf Gligar and Drifloon make great team mates for Totodile. Without Salac Berry, this set is also weak to other priority users like Elekid, Stunky, and Houndour. Diglett can trap all of these Pokémon, and hit them with a powerful super effective Earthquake, but must be wary of Sucker Punch. Weather is this set's biggest problem. Both Hail and Sandstorm ruin Flail, and thanks to Snow Warning and Sand Stream, they can be permanent. Due to this, a Rain Dancer like Mantyke or Horsea is recommended, since it removes Hail and Sandstorm. Lastly, like SD Dile, this set benefits from Stealth Rock and Screens.

[SET]
name: DD Dile
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Waterfall / Aqua Tail
move 3: Return
move 4: Ice Punch / Crunch
item: Life Orb / Oran Berry
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Sadly, Aqua Jet and Dragon Dance is an illegal move combination on Totodile. This doesn't stop DD Dile from threatening teams, though. Dragon Dance Totodile is still a powerful threat, but Totodile has some competition with Barboach for the team slot. While Barboach is faster and has STAB Earthquake, Totodile has access to Ice Punch, which makes it easier to take down Grass-types, as well as having higher Attack. Waterfall and Return provide perfect coverage with each other. However, Aqua Tail can be used if you like more power, but the trade off for lower accuracy and not being able to flinch is rarely worth it. Ice Punch is what makes Totodile stand out from Barboach and Corphish, giving Totodile the ability to inflict heavy damage on most Grass-types after a Dragon Dance. Crunch can be used to hit Ghost-types, like Duskull, harder, but you have to question why you aren't using Corphish, as it does a better job. Life Orb is recommended for an item, since it allows Totodile to hit much harder after a single boost; however, Oran Berry can help you secure that boost and make sure you aren't going to be finished off by priority as easily.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Life Orb is recommended for an item, since it allows Totodile to hit much harder after a single boost; however, Oran Berry can help you secure that boost and make sure you aren't going to be finished off by priority as easily. You can choose between Jolly and Adamant, since both of them are effective. Jolly allows you to outspeed the 21 Speed Scarfers that are all over Little Cup. Adamant, on the other hand, gives Totodile an impressive 25 Attack to work with, and even higher if you factor in Life Orb. The EVs are pretty standard. Max Attack and Speed mean Totodile will be sweeping at its maximum potential. The 4 EVs in Defense give it an extra point in the said stat.

Priority hurts this set more than the other two, since Totodile can't use Aqua Jet to beat them. Thankfully, Totodile is pure Water-type, and isn't weak to any priority. It can still hinder Totodile's sweeping ability, though. Diglett and Scarf Gligar return as great teammates, since they finish off Croagunk, Elekid, Stunky and Houndour with ease. While both Diglett and Gligar are weak to Aqua Jet and Ice Shard, you have to remember one thing: Totodile resists these moves. Thus, Totodile shouldn't have much trouble taking down other users of these. Having Chinchou in the wings also never hurts, as it can take down Mantyke, who can cause some problems. Just like the previous two sets, Totodile loves having Screens and Stealth Rock up.

[Team Options]

Like almost all sweepers, Totodile greatly benefits from Stealth Rock being set up. Bronzor, Pineco and Diglett, are all the best options. Bronzor and Pineco are both weak to Fire, which gives Totodile an easy time switching in. Diglett can take down Pokémon like Croagunk, Elekid and Houndour who threaten Totodile with their priority attacks, but Diglett has to be wary of priority. Wynaut can also trap these Pokémon and hit them with either Counter or Mirror Coat, but it should be careful around Houndour. Screen support is also great, since it allows Totodile to set up more effectively. The previously mentioned Bronzor and Pineco are great at the job. Also, Encore is great for Totodile to set up. Scarf Wynaut is a great option; however, Ledyba has the opportunity to set up dual screens, which is a huge help.

Croagunk is Totodile's bane, so having something that can take down Croagunk is a must. Scarf Gligar is the best at the job, since it resists Vacuum Wave and returns with super effective STAB Earthquake. Gastly can put Croagunk to sleep if Croagunk uses Sucker Punch with Hypnosis, and Drifloon can Substitute. Diglett can also work, but needs to be a bit wary of Vacuum Wave. Diglett can also bring down Electric-types like Elekid that threaten Totodile, as well as priority users like Stunky. Mantyke can also cause problems, so Chinchou is a great teammate for that reason, since it can take every move the standard Mantyke uses and hit back with Thunderbolt. Staryu and Chinchou can also cause Totodile problems, so Munchlax is recommended as a teammate when using Totodile. Also, anything with Flash Fire is helpful, so it can absorb Will-O-Wisp that would make Totodile pretty much a dead weight.

[Other Changes]

Totodile has a couple more physical options at its disposal. Aerial Ace can hit Croagunk and Grass-types; however, Grass-types are hit harder by Ice Punch. Superpower and Brick Break provide Totodile with the ability to take down Steel-, Dark- and Normal-types, but the Attack drop from Superpower is unfavorable. Brick Break is a decent substitute for Crunch or Ice Punch, though. It can also take down Reflect, which can hamper Totodile's sweeping potential. Rock Slide is a decent option, and it comes with a nice flinch rate. Lastly, Totodile does have Double-Edge, but Double-edge has a nasty recoil, and is illegal with Aqua Jet.

Counter can score some surprise KOs, but is hardly worth a moveslot. Totodile also has access to some strong special moves, like Hydro Pump and Ice Beam, but it doesn't have the Special Attack to abuse them effectively. Totodile can run a Choice set, but when you have access to the two best set up moves available to physical sweepers, you have to ask why you want to forego Totodile's sweeping potential.

[Counters]

Croagunk and Mantyke are the two biggest pains in Totodile's rear. Aside from DD Dile, they both outspeed Totodile and heal HP from its Aqua Jet. Croagunk can the use Fake Out and Vacuum Wave combination to bring down Totodile, and Mantyke can HP Electric it to oblivion. Chinchou is also great, who can take hits thanks to its large HP and OHKO back with a faster Thunderbolt. Staryu works in the same way, except it has a little more trouble switching in due to its lower HP. Paras and Shroomish can switch in on Aqua Jet or Waterfall and put Totodile to sleep with Spore, but they must be careful of Ice Punch. Duskull can burn Totodile with Will-O-Wisp, but Crunch utterly destroys Duskull. Faster priority users can revenge kill Totodile with ease. Stunky, Taillow (with a Guts boost), and Dratini, are all good examples.

DD Dile can be tough to take down if you let it set up. Scarf Chinchou and Scarf Elekid can stop it if it has only one Dragon Dance under its belt, but will have trouble if Totodile manages to get two. DD Dile does have one huge weakness, which can be easily taken advantage of: lack of priority. Croagunk and Duskull can work together to bring down Totodile. When Totodile is going to use Waterfall, switch to Croagunk. If Totodile uses Return, switch in Duskull. You can repeat this until you take down Totodile with Fake Out, Vacuum Wave, and Shadow Sneak. However, your opponent may catch on to this strategy, so be wary of a misprediction. Other than that, high power priority, like a Choice Banded Stunky's Sucker Punch or Doduo's Quick Attack can weaken Totodile greatly.

I really thing something that mimicks Feraligatr in UU should be added

Like this

Toto @ Liechi Berry
Sub
DD
Waterfall
Return

Basically you get a DD up, making substitutes easier to create. You then sub down to Liechi level. Once you do that, its the equivalent of SDing with a Salac, but only easier to pull off
This also puts you in Torrent range, allowing for like a 180 power move off an attack stat of like high 20s
Utter rape for teams lacking priority

Why not Salac instead? It would work better I'd think, as you already have enough firepower to OHKO most of the metagame with Torrent and +1. This way Scarfers can't revenge kill you.

No HYU, +1 Atk is not often enough to OHKO everything with Neutral hits. Toto's main nemesis is priority. SubDDDile is also strictly lategame, when priority and scarfers are gone (which is like 3 pokes).
Its meant for a quick efficent clean up

[Opinion]

Totodile is one of those Pokemon which is pretty good, but often overlooked during team building. Lack of priority and low stats hurts Totodile a lot, while Pokemon like Buizel have priority and higher Speed and Attack. Due to this, Totodile is rarely seen on the battlefield, not because it's bad, just overlooked.

However, being so rarely seen may just be Totodile's greatest weapon. Many teams don't prepare for the little alligator, allowing Totodile to plow through their teams. With Dragon Dance, pure Water typing and unresisted coverage, Totodile can dish out some heavy damage if you aren't prepared. Most importantly, Totodile is the best dancer in Pokemon history.

What can't it OHKO with a +1 Torrent Waterfall? It can OHKO Munchlax with ease, and Bronzor falls after taking maybe one other hit. Obviously +2 Return won't OHKO Slowpoke either, so it has to be weakened anyway.

Plus, Scarfers are usually saved for late game. A "Quick" clean up should be quick, not easily stopped.

Don't forget, with Salac it can use an Adamant nature.

[SET]

name: DD Dile
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Waterfall
move 3: Return
move 4: Superpower / Crunch / Ice Punch
item: Oran Berry
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

In this set, Totodile can put its amazing dancing skills to good use. Totodile is one of the best Dragon Dancers
in Little Cup (removed comma) and should not be underestimated by any means.

Totodile is blessed with both STAB Waterfall and Return (removed comma) which are unresisted in Little Cup. The last moveslot is pretty much your choice (removed comma) since Totodile can typically do enough damage using Waterfall and Return alone. A defensive Porygon only takes 53.85% - 65.38% from +1 Waterfall, so Superpower is the best option, since it OHKO's the artificial Pokemon. It also scores an OHKO on Magnemite (removed comma) too. Duskull is immune to Return and is only 3KO'd by +1 Waterfall, so Crunch is a great option as space well. Ice Punch can be used for defensive Gligars and OHKO's Shroomish after Stealth Rock damage.

(removed period and space) Stealth Rock is great (removed comma) since it allows space the Big Jaw Pokemon to OHKO Shroomish with Ice Punch (you just mentioned this, perhaps consolidate the sentences or reference what you've just stated) and breaks Focus Sashes. Gligar is a good choice to set up Stealth Rock (removed comma) since it is immune to Electric-type moves andand takes only neutral from Grass (removed comma) which it can attack with Aerial Ace. Gligar can also take down Magnemite and Chinchou with Earthquake (removed comma) and Duskull with Night Slash. Watch out for Ice Beam and HP Ice (removed comma) though. Machop is good for handling Porygon if you aren't running Superpower. If you are running Superpower, Houndour is a great partner. Houndour can absorb Duskull's Will-O-Wisp and hit back with Dark Pulse or Sucker Punch. It can also take out Shroomish with Fire Blast, which is even better.

[SET]

name: Crocodilian of Choice
move 1: Waterfall
move 2: Return
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Crunch / Ice Punch
item: Choice Band / Choice Scarf
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Totodile has a nice surprise factor (removed comma) since most players expect DD Dile. Choice Band allows Totodile to use powerful attacks right from the get-go, while Choice Scarf allows it to act as a revenge killer.

The moves are exactly the same as the moves on the Dragon Dance set. Waterfall provides STAB and unresisted coverage with Return. Superpower is used to OHKO Magnemite and Porygon with Choice Band. The last moveslot is your pick: you can either hit Duskull with Crunch or Shroomish with Ice Punch.

You are going to need Pokemon that will be able to take hits that would normally be super effective against Totodile for this set to be effective. Chinchou and Gligar can switch in on Electric attacks thanks to their immunity. Bronzor, Houndour and Pineco can switch in on Grass-type attacks and set up. Houndour is great since it stops Grass-types that use HP Fire. It also stops three of Totodile's best counters, making it even better.

[SET]

name: SubDD Dile
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Subsitute
move 3: Waterfall
move 4: Return / Flail
item: Liechi Berry / Salac Berry
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[Set Comments]

This set is extremely risky, but the payoff is huge. While it leaves you very weak to priority, a +2 STAB Torrent-boosted Waterfall is nothing to scoff at. You are going to want to switch in on something Totodile resists, get in a Dragon Dance, and start using Subsitute. Waterfall is going to be your main attacking option (removed comma) since it reaches 180 base power with Torrent activated. Even the most defensive Porygon is OHKO'd by Waterfall. Return provides perfect coverage with Waterfall. Flail can be used if you can get your HP low enough.

Along with Liechi Berry, Salac Berry is a completely viable option. While you trade some strength, you gain the ability to outspeed every Choice Scarfed Pokemon in Little Cup (removed comma) except for Diglett, Voltorb, and Elekid. However, you lose the ability to OHKO Porygon, which is a huge downfall. If you are running Salac Berry, you are going to want to run an Adamant nature (removed comma) as space well.

Croagunk is the ultimate counter to this set. It has priority to beat Totodile (removed comma) and can heal by switching in on Waterfall. SubSneak Misdreavus acts similarly, except it can come in on Return. Because of this, trappers Diglett and Scarf Wynaut are great teammates. With 20 Speed, Sucker Punch, Shadow Claw and STAB Earthquake, Diglett can trap Croagunk and OHKO the poisonous frog. It can also use Sucker Punch and Shadow Claw to bring down Misdreavus. If Misdreavus uses Subsitute (removed comma) or if Croagunk uses Sucker Punch, Scarf Wynaut can come in and Encore them. It can also use Counter and Mirror Coat to try to KO them, (removed parentheses) although Shadow Ball will OHKO Wynaut. Bronzor and Pineco are great teammates since they can set up Reflect and Light Screen (removed comma) which protect Totodile from weak priority moves (removed comma) like Magby's Mach Punch. Bronzor can also put a Pokemon to sleep with Hypnosis, making it an even better teammate.

[TEAM OPTIONS]

Gligar is still top choice (removed comma) because it is immune to Electric-type moves and can set up Stealth Rock (removed comma) which greatly
help Totodile. He can also use Aerial Ace, Earthquake, and Night Slash to bring down Shroomish, Chinchou, Magnemite, and Duskull. It has to be wary of HP Ice and Ice Beam (removed comma) though. Choice Scarf Machop is great if you aren't running Superpower on DD Dile, (removed line break) since Porygon and Magnemite can easiliy switch in on the blue reptile and OHKO with Thunderbolt. As long as they dont have Specs, Machop can survive a Thunderbolt and hit back with Dynamicpunch. Bronzor or Pineco can set up Light Screen and Reflect (removed comma) which help Totodile survive longer and hopefully get in another Dragon Dance. It also allows the Big Jaw Pokemon to shrugs off priority better. Totodile can also come in on Fire attacks that are used to KO them. Houndour has is great partner with Totodile (removed comma) since it can bring down Duskull, Magnemite, and Shroomish. It can also use Flash Fire to absorb Will-O-Wisp. Totodile can also switch in on Water-type moves that hurt Houndour.

The SubDD set benefits greatly from Pokemon who can trap priority users. Only three Pokemon have this ability: Diglett, Trapinch and Wynaut. Since Trapinch is too slow (removed nonessential information) to be of any help, Diglett and Wynaut are the best options. Diglett can trap Croagunk and OHKO it with Earthquake. With Shadow Claw and Sucker Punch, it can also do heavy damage to Misdreavus. Wynaut can use Encore to make them repeat moves like Subsitute, Calm Mind, Sucker Punch, and Nasty Plot. However, Wynaut is OHKO'd by Shadow Ball.

[Other Options]

Totodile's most notable other option is Swords Dance. The main problem with Swords Dance Totodile is that it has no priority. Totodile then has to rely on it's rather low 15 Speed. Faster Pokemon like Elekid and Voltorb can easily make short work out of Totodile with their STAB Eletric attacks. You can use a Salac Berry to boost your Speed, but you are still weak to priority (removed nonessential language). Due to this, I highly recommend not using Swords Dance. While on the topic of being priority weak, Flail is another option at Totodile's disposal. However, you need to be at 1 HP for it to be effective, making you are extremely weak to priority.

Brick Break can be used over Superpower if you don't want the Attack drop. However, you won't be able to OHKO a defensive Porygon after a +1 boost. Aqua Tail has more power than Waterfall (removed comma) but less PP and less accurracy. Totodile can't afford a miss, so Waterfall is recommended. Totodile has Rock Slide, however it has little use since it can hit most Flying- and Bug-types are hit harder with Waterfall.

[EVs]

Totodile is one of the few Pokemon in Little Cup that has to use the 252/252 EV spread. Without it, Totodile can't reach max Speed. Totodile, however, is benefitted from the fact that it only needs 4 EVs in Defense for an extra point.

[Opinion]

Totodile is one of those Pokemon which is pretty good, but often overlooked during team building. Lack of priority and low stats hurt Totodile a lot, while Pokemon like Buizel have priority and higher Speed and Attack.

[Counters]

DD Dile can be tricky to counter if you don't know what it's using in the last moveslot. Your best bet is to switch in while Totodile is setting up or trying to revenge kill it. A defensive Porygon or Magnemite can switch in on Totodile an OHKO if Totodile doesn't have Superpower. Without Crunch, Duskull can switch in on Totodile and burn it, making Totodile worthless the rest of the battle. Shroomish can switch in on Totodile an put it to sleep with Spore (removed comma) as long as Totodile isn't running Ice Punch. Chinchou si probably the best counter, though. It can survive a +1 Return (removed comma) and hit back with STAB Thunderbolt.

Prediction is the best counter for any Choice user, and Totodile is no exception. Croagunk and Mantyke can switch in on Waterfall and Superpower and use priority and HP Electric to KO it, respectively. A Ghost-type like Misdreavus can switch in on Return or Superpower. Ice Punch and Crunch are stopped by bulky Fighting-types like Machop or Makuhita.

some quick notes:
 • you mention several things multiple times, such as diglett being able to OHKO crogunk or totodile being able to OHKO shroomish with ice punch after stealth rock. i would suggest consolidating this information and only using it once
 • totodile only needs 236 EVs to max its atk.
 • your sentences could flow a little better and you could vary your language a bit

I think DD should be slashed. Also, there is a cool set I used with Flail, Sub, DD, AJ, and Leichi. Great finisher.

12:24|Dracoyoshi8|Heysup, Sub/Flail/DD/AJ toto is illegal

dunno if this is what ete was asking about on irc but any truth to this? heysups set looks good but cant add it if its illegal =[

Totodile learns Flail by level up but DD and AJ are illegal together. You could try a similar set up with Agility/Liechi I guess.

As far as your format goes...

Make sure that titles (like [Team Options]) aren't all capitalized. The only exceptions to this rule are [SET] and [SET COMMENTS] titles.

There shouldn't be a space between your
tags and the first letter / end punctuation of the sentence.

name: SD Dile
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Return
move 4: Crunch / Ice Punch / Waterfall
item: Life Orb
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly
evs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 4 Def / 232 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

The competition between Water-types in Little Cup is tough. When competing with Pokemon, like Mantyke and Chinchou, you are going to need something to help you stand out from the crowd, or else you will fall through the cracks. Fortunately, Totodile has access to both Swords Dance and Aqua Jet, making it one of the deadliest Water-type sweeper in Little Cup, and should never be underestimated.

36 HP / 0 Def Misdreavus - 69.57% - 82.61% (2HKO without Oran)

Return adds unresisted coverage in conjunction with Aqua Jet, making it the perfect secondary attack. The last moveslot is up to personal preference. Crunch is great, since it allows you to OHKO Duskull and Misdreavus. However, Ice Punch allows you to hit bulky Grass-types like Shroomish and Paras harder, who would love to put Totodile to sleep. Ice Punch also hits Ground-types, like Phanpy, harder than Aqua Jet does. Waterfall provides Totodile with a stronger STAB, and hits anything that doesn't resist it for a shitload of damage. A Jolly nature is recommended, but not only because of the added Speed; if you run an Adamant nature, you have to sacrifice an HP point in order to max out Speed, reducing Totodile's survivability. Also, an Adamant nature doesn't help you score any more valuable KOs on Pokemon like Bronzor than Jolly does.

[Totodile is going to need all the HP it can get because of Life Orb recoil] remove. Type-wise, Bronzor and Pineco are the best options, since Totodile can switch in on the Fire-type attacks they attract. Encore support also makes Totodile's job much easier. Scarf Wynaut is the best at the job, since it outspeeds Pokemon like Nasty Plot Misdreavus and forces them to keep setting up until Wynaut leaves the battle. Totodile can then easily use Swords Dance as the opposing Pokemon switches out. Ledyba is another great option, since it can both use Encore and set up dual screens.

Croagunk and Mantyke are Totodile's mortal enemies. They can both switch in on Aqua Jet and KO Totodile. Croagunk can be stopped by Scarf Gligar, who easily shrugs off Vaccuum Wave and Sucker Punch. Gastly and Misdreavus also work well, despite Sucker Punch, because Gastly can put Croagunk to sleep with Hypnosis, and Misdreavus can set up Substitute, while Croagunk attempts to KO them with Sucker Punch. Mantyke can be easily stopped by Chinchou, since Chinchou resists everything Mantyke can throw at it, aside from the rare HP Grass. Chinchou can then proceed to OHKO Mantyke with Thunderbolt. Speaking of Chinchou, Chinchou is another Pokemon that causes Totodile trouble, since it resists Aqua Jet and has Thunderbolt to subdue to it. Scarf Gligar can switch in on Thunderbolt and Earthquake Chinchou, but will have trouble if Chinchou uses Agility. Munchlax can handle most of Chinchou's attacks, though, and hit back hard with Earthquake. Staryu is also a pain, since it is faster and has Thunderbolt. Elekid or Scarf Magnemite can handle Staryu as well, and other Water-types.

name: Flail
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Aqua Jet
move 3: Flail
move 4: Substitute
item: Salac Berry / Liechi Berry
ability: Torrent
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set has ridiculous power behind it, but is a little more risky. With this set, you can easily activate Torrent, which raises Aqua Jet to an impressive 90 Base Power (including STAB), and with a Swords Dance under its belt, Totodile is hitting like a ton of bricks. However, Flail is the magic of this set. Despite these risks, this set can dish out heavy damage and is perfect for daring players, or players who just want to use something less common

Salac Berry helps Totodile with its Speed issue. With a Salac boost, Totodile reaches 21 Speed, allowing it to outspeed Pokemon like LO Elekid and Houndour, and beat their priority moves with Aqua Jet. Liechi Berry, however, can be used as a safe and surefire way to get an Attack boost, if you are unable to Swords Dance. Unlike the standard SD Dile, this set can fully use an Adamant nature. Since investing in HP is actually bad for this set, Totodile can fully focus on maxing both its Speed and Attack, while still getting an extra point in Defense. Also, with this spread, Totodile reaches 14 Speed, making it in a perfect for a Salac boost.

This set is very vulnerable to priority and weather. Croagunk utterly destroys this set, so Scarf Gligar and Misdreavus make great team mates for Totodile. Without Salac Berry, this set is also weak to other priority users like Elekid, Stunky, and Houndour. Diglett can trap all of these Pokemon, and hit them with a powerful super effective Earthquake (Stunky and Houndour OHKO with Sucker Punch I believe). Weather is this set's biggest problem. Both Hail and Sandstorm ruin Flail, and thanks to Snow Warning and Sand Stream, they can be permanent. Due to this, a Rain Dancer like Mantyke or Horsea is recommended, since it removes Hail and Sandstorm. Lastly, like SD Dile, this set benefits from Stealth Rock and Screens.

[SET]

name: DD Dile
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Waterfall / Aqua Tail
move 3: Return
move 4: Ice Punch / Crunch
item: Life Orb / Oran Berry
ability: Torrent
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Sadly, Aqua Jet and Dragon Dance is illegal on Totodile. This doesn't stop DD Dile from threatening teams, though. Dragon Dance Totodile is still a powerful threat, but Totodile has some competition with Barboach for the team slot. While Barboach is faster and has STAB Earthquake, Totodile has access Ice Punch, which makes it easier to take down Grass-types, as well as having higher Attack.

Crunch can be used to hit Ghost-types, like Misdreavus, harder, but you have to question why you aren't using Corphish, as it does a better job.

However, it can still hinder Totodile's sweeping ability. Diglett and Scarf Gligar return as great teammates, since they finish off Croagunk, Elekid, Stunky and Houndour with ease. If Gligar runs Night Slash, it can even bring down SubSneak Misdreavus. While both Diglett and Gligar are weak to Aqua Jet and Ice Shard, you have to remember one thing: Totodile resists these moves. Thus, Totodile shouldn't have much trouble taking down other users of these. Although, having Chinchou in the wings never hurts. Chinchou can also take down Mantyke, who can cause some problems.

Diglett can take down Pokemon like Croagunk, Elekid and Houndour who threaten Totodile with their priority attacks (Houndour/Croagunk OHKO Diglett with Sucker Punch/Fake Out+Vacuum Wave).

Gastly can put Croagunk to sleep if Croagunk uses Sucker Punch with Hypnosis, and Misdreavus can Substitute.

[Other Options]

Totodile has a couple more physical options at its disposal. Aerial Ace can hit Croagunk and Grass-types; however, Grass-types are hit harder by Ice Punch. Superpower and Brick Break provide Totodile with the ability to take down Steel-, Dark- and Normal-types, but the Attack drop from Superpower is unfavorable. Brick Break is a decent substitute for Crunch or Ice Punch, though. It can also take down Reflect, which can hamper Totodile's sweeping potential. Rock Slide is a decent option, and it comes with a nice flinch rate. Lastly, Totodile does have Double-Edge; however, Double-edge has a nasty recoil, and is illegal with Aqua Jet.

[EVs]

On the Swords Dance set, you want to run an extra point in HP, but not only because it gives Totodile decent HP for sponging up recoil from Life Orb, it also allows Totodile to get the most out of its stats, since a full 252 / 4 / 252 spread actually clashes with them. On the other sets, run max Attack and Speed, and 4 EVs in Defense for an extra Defense point. Also, do not run any HP on the Flail set, since it ruins the number for Substitute.

[Opinion]

There are a lot of usable Water-types in Little Cup, but Totodile is one of the best. It has access to the two best set up moves for physical sweepers in the game, STAB priority, and unresisted coverage. Whether you are running the new powerhouse that is Swords Dance Totodile, or the old classic DD Dile, no other word describes the blue crocodile better than "crikey"!

Paras and Shroomish can switch in on Aqua Jet or Waterfall and put Totodile to sleep with Spore; however, they must be careful of Ice Punch.

Scarf Chinchou and Elekid can stop it if it has only one Dragon Dance under its belt, but will have trouble if Totodile manages to get two. However, DD Dile does have one huge weakness: lack of priority. Croagunk and SubSneak Misdreavus can work together to bring down Totodile. When Totodile is going to use Waterfall, switch to Croagunk. If Totodile uses Return, switch in Misdreavus. You can repeat this until you take down Totodile with Fake Out, Vacuum Wave, and Shadow Sneak. However, your opponent may catch on to this strategy, so be wary of a misprediction. Other than that, high power priority, like a Choice Banded Stunky's Sucker Punch or Dodou's Quick Attack can weaken Totodile greatly.

Finally! One thing I'd like to point out is that you use 'however' a lot in your analysis, and I mean a lot. I suggest you go through it and try to use different words like 'but' or 'although'. Other than that, great job Draco!

[SET COMMENTS]

The competition between Water-types in Little Cup is tough. When competing with Pokemon like Mantyke and Chinchou, you are going to need something to help you stand out from the crowd, or else you will fall through the cracks. Fortunately, Totodile has access to both Swords Dance and Aqua Jet, making it one of the deadliest Water-type sweepers in Little Cup, and should never be underestimated.

Return adds unresisted coverage in conjunction with Aqua Jet, making it the perfect secondary attack. The last moveslot is a matter of personal preference. Crunch allows you to OHKO Duskull and Misdreavus, while Ice Punch hits bulky Grass-types like Shroomish and Paras harder, who would love to put Totodile to sleep. Ice Punch also hits Ground-types like Phanpy, harder than Aqua Jet does. Waterfall provides Totodile with a stronger STAB, and hits anything that doesn't resist it for a MOTHERFUCKING BUCKET TON of damage. A Jolly nature is recommended, but not only because of the added Speed; if you run an Adamant nature, you have to sacrifice an HP point in order to max out Speed, reducing Totodile's survivability. [ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

36 HP / 0 Def Misdreavus - 69.57% - 82.61% (2HKO without an Oran Berry)

+2 Aqua Jet vs. 196 HP / 116 Def Phanpy - 92.86% - 114.29% (58% chance to OHKO)

+2 Aqua Jet vs. 220 HP / 148 Def Bronzor - 48.00% - 60.00% - (3HKO with Oran, 2HKO if it has a low damage roll followed by a high damage roll)
