^^ idk how it can fight or stop doing anything without arms and only one set of legs to carry its huge body, but it looks cool, just not functional. Maybe try 2 sets of legs? I think that would look awesome.

Armored Monkey ready for battle:

ummm... yeah. This is what you told me to do.

If this is your taste, then awesome, this is my final.

edit: kay, ninja'd. Right now, the eyes are just empty. I think it could use something more - make it glare even more, and that would be awesome.

Also, the nose/mouth kinda looks like a second face...

This is my submission, a Pokemon with odd shape but definite potential for Celebi/Jirachi-esque smallness yet bulk and power. The net connecting its horns is for gathering and removing of secondary effects like Stealth Rocks, Leech Seed, Poison, etc. The two dark crystals atop its head are onyx crystals (the actual stone, not the Pokemon).

@Scoopapa: I was thinking the exact same thing when making it!

@Sezja: I'll have another perspective here tonight. it has the tail. Ill make a full view in a bit.

@Cyzir: Narwal. Narwal all the way! Your narwal and your "tank-eater" are your top two concepts in my opinion

@Elegy: I didn't like the idea of the plate much, but your "armor" looks better as the chest than your original idea. Remove the straps but keep the plate and it will be awesome!

@Mysterious: I still think the idea of making the smoke into sand-like dust would prove effective.

Ditching my recycled armadillo idea for this one:
setsz.jpg

It's based on Set, the ancient Egyptian god of desert and chaos, which I think fits the dark/ground typing perfectly. I had some trouble making it look like a dark/ground dual type rather than just plain dark, so I ended up borrowing some of the designs on Groudon's body and added some spikes (two on its tail, and a large one on each back leg's thigh).

so turning the black smokey dust stuff into like a tan colored sand? I don't know, wouldn't that make him look a bit too much ground and not enough dark? I'll give it a try and see how it turns out and compare the two.

@Pkmn: Love the Cow skull. I really like how it looks. i hope you go into this b/c i would like to see a finished product. Great start

@Mysterious: Yea, kinda. Like make it a dull sandy-tan with high contrast shadows. Colors don't really make the pokemon. The whole mood does. With the black fog, it makes me think of a ghost reanimating the sand. If it were sand dust, it would be like the sand was simply hardening in some spots to make the features

@Elegy: Perfect. Nuff said...

Edit; @Elegy: The eyes are a bit too bright for me, and some people MIGHT look away because its green. In my opinion, darken the eyes and your done.

hey, i've haunted the CAPS for a couple of rounds now and i think i might be on the verge of ready; this is my definite wip here

darkground.jpg
bare with the roughness =)
the concept i wanted to roll with stems from some of the standard qualities of already existing in dark and ground pokemon from previous gens. i then decided, some how, to fuse them together in the real world: dark + ground = graveyard. So my attempt will be to make something with gravestone-esque lumps on its back something will happen wit the tail. i'm definitely looking for feedback, but be kind =) i've only got MSpaint to work with here and this is my first try with pixel art.

gotta say i don't much like the face, but other than that I think you have a solid idea brewing.

:)

Wow. Just wow. Excellent entries, everyone. Not sure which I like best, honestly. Main contenders for me (out of what I've seen) are the Armadillo and the Disc creature posted a while back. I definately think we shouldn't have to worry about this being a butt-ugly CAP.

Here is my current WIP. It ts the Plate Pokemon/Tectonics Pokemon. Its current WIP name I christen it with is Tectonark. My first concept was an Earthwormior, although I couldn't draw that very well, so I brainstormed more. I then thought that I should use an Asteroid/Comet/Meteor pokemon as my concept. This slowly morphed into Tectonark, which is based off of the Earth's Tectonic Plates.

Its main body, hands, etc are mainly made from Obsidian, which will be more clearly shown once I color it. Tectonark uses the Obsidian to channel its dark energies, giving it the ability to float and use telekinesis, as shown with its hands. Tectonark is holding a slab of earth on its back and on the backs of its hands. It normally hibernates for hundreds of years at a time. During these periods, forests have been known to grow on its back. These forests are very vertile due to the high mineral content in Tectonark's back. Thus, Tectonark is a vital part of many ecosystems. Unfortunately, it doesn't remember this when it wakes up, and thus can ruin the Ecosystem accidentally by slanting it 90 degrees.

So, what do you guys think? I know that it looks lame right now; I intend to repose it into a more dynamic pose soon. In the meantime, C+C is highly smiled upon. As you can clearly see. ^

Hey nice stuff there pkmn-taicho, after a bit of refining I think you'll have something great. Think of maybe adding some different objects within the sand besides bones.

Sorry dude, I love the design... I really do, but it's too rock/gem 'y. I see the dark in it, but its too rocky for my likes. This seems too radical an idea to change now, but you have a 'Rock-hard' idea forming. I see ability in you.

Good luck and keep 'em coming! :)

(Note: if you can make it more ground 'y it could work.)

@Elegy: I like it, but it didn't need to be THAT dark. lol

Chains. I'd like some chains but when it really comes down to it you know where this creature is supposed to live so think of some objects that would be in it's environment and sort of get stuck in him.

Completely agree. Have like a dangling chain around it's arm. That would make it alot more interesting. Also maybe some fragments of a obelisk? (Egyptian pillar)

@Purpureal: I liked the pumpkin better. The concept was truly outside the box. This concept... just kinda scares me. do you know what i mean? that stare is creepy.
