Hmm, I am definitely going to disagree with most of the article. I understand everyone has their personal tastes, but I must say, I enjoyed Slaughter of the Soul (though it is a bit generic at times), and bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Meshuggah still have their appeal to me. I'm not going to complain about In Flames as much, I'm sort of wearing out on melodic death metal, though it's still good. But dissing Pantera... that's just asking for trouble. The biggest metal fails: http://www.anus.com/metal/about/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=109
I really enjoyed reading the article, thus why I am posting it here.
Grindcore is definitely a mixed bag, mostly bad. I found that I liked the album Goremageddon by Aborted, which I guess is goregrind. Napalm Death is decent grindcore, but I just don't find it listenable. Then we get to stuff like AxCx... oh god. (Picnic of Love, anyone?)What are the characteristics of brutal death metal? i think i haven't listened to that genre?
Also, grindcore hasn't mentioned itt. Do you guys think grindcore is shit in general?
I actually haven't heard much of them, but I think they're pretty similar to Vader, another death metal band that I really like.Do you enjoy Death? That might be my favourite DM band.
okay, you guys do listen to a hell lot of metal yet you don't consider yourselves a metalhead? so what is the definition of metalhead? is it about attitude?
i went to a sludge metal show the other night
it was pretty good
Also, is anyone else as stoked as I am for the new Baroness album as I am?
In Flames' Jester Race is amazing, i prefer their earlier stuff over the newer (especially the vocals, it's a bit different)
^It is quite debatable if half the bands that you listed are actually Metal at all in the strictest sense, though I'm no expert at the exact musical boundaries that define Metal. All I will say is that I have a couple of friends who would probably want to give you a four-hour-long lecture after reading your post. Yeah, I have some weird friends lol.
