Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Another thing is, that I keep getting 8:53:13 when I hit both buttons at the same time. I was wondering if I should try either hitting the a button first then spacebar, or vice-versa.

Got a question about the dogs in HG/SS.
I know that they do respawn after beating the elite 4. but let's say I wanna abuse them already in Ecruteak City (or something like that)
Do I have to advance the frame before I talk to them?
If so, how it is determined which dog gets which nature and stuff?
This is really confusing the hell out of me.

I would say make sure they are totally synched before entering the game. I usually wait 10 seconds or so and then enter. If you keep getting :13 seconds regardless, just switch to a time with :13 for your spread.

Okay, I'm on my first try ever hatching eggs, and it looks like I messed up somewhere on the IRNG. Here's what I did:

I start the game at the Resort Area with 5 Pokémon, including my two parents, in my party. I have the Dowsing Machine app open, which is next to the Happiness Checker (not sure which side... I have Platinum, so I have the two buttons). I fish up and catch a level 74 Magikarp and find my initial seed, A613025C, using its stats. I'm NOT breeding my final product, so all I want is a female Riolu (12.5% F) with some flawless IVs to breed with my Smeargle (who has 4 flawless IVs and egg moves). The first such spread using my seed is frame 8. I need 7 Coin Flips and 0 Happiness Checker double-taps. I go to the Coin Flip app without passing through the Happiness Checker app and flip it 7 times. The flips do match the ones on the IRNG frame listings. I then fly to Solaceon Town and deposit my two Pokémon. To see when my Egg gets created, I switch to the Daycare app, but when doing so, I do pass through the Happiness Checker app. When the Egg has been created, I save, collect it, and hatch it. It is NOT what it was supposed to be. I believe it might be frame 16.

So, where did I make a mistake? I'm guessing it's at that bold part? Please let me know. Thanks!

When you go to app 6, it advances the RNG by 2 x (amount of pokemon in party, most likely 6). If you go by it fast without it showing up it shouldn't affect it.

Ah, that makes sense. I had 4 in my party, so that explains how I got from 8 to 16. Thanks! I guess I need to get a sense of what apps are where so I can avoid something like that happening again.

Somehow I managed to mess this up AGAIN. I did the same thing as before, except this time, I saved on the Coin Flip app. To get what I wanted, I needed to switch to the Happiness Checker app but not use it, and flip the coin on the Coin Flip app twice. Since I was already on the Coin Flip app, I flipped the 2 coins first, then switched to the Happiness Checker app and left it there while I went to Solaceon and deposited my Pokémon in the Daycare. I then switched off of the Happiness Checker app to the Daycare app. From what I read in the first post, it sounds like doing the Happiness Checker taps first is not required, but is just recommended to avoid accidentally passing through it again, which I did not do. Was this a mistake? I was aiming for frame 15 and I believe I got frame 12. I did in fact have 6 Pokémon in my party when I switched to the Happiness Checker app.

CAN YOUR TARGET FRAME AND THE FRAME THAT YOUR SAVED ON BE THE SAME???

For example, if I'm saved on frame 6, can I choose a frame 6 spread on time finder?

Sorry, I'm new to RNG abuse idk how this works its so hard >_>

if you worked out that your hitting frame 6 the most then you just go to time finder if you save it will mess up the frames

Ok, yea, I am hitting frame 6 the most ( I guess? @_@ )
I've done calibration and everything, but I didn't know frame calibration was in that step too. My average delay/seconds is 602/14.

But, Ok, I chose my target frame, set my DS Clock to 2 minutes before my target time, hard reset 26 seconds before my target time(to allow AR screen to load up) and I am positive that I hit "Continue" at 14 seconds ( My target time was 16:03:14 so I hard reset at 16:02:48) and then mashed A.

But when I checked my Egg's Ivs it was something completely different from what I wanted. The journal opens, but it just says" Started from Solaceon Town", no caught/hatched pokemon or ANYTHING.

Can anyone tell me how to proceed from here, or if I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks Help would be greatly appreciated. :|

Why are you doing it 2 minutes before? All you have to do is synch the clocks, turn the DS back on and wait on the AR screen until you hit "start game" when you would normally be SRing. If you need to do a journal flip to get your frame, then do that and pick up the egg.

And JRT, only "caught" and "defeated" will count as journal flips.

Ugh, you're right.

I feel like an idiot now d;

Ok, I'll try and see how it goes.
edit.

can you answer my question about frames? - if my saved frame is 6, can I pick a frame 6 spread? - thus just having to press start
when journal opens.

Yes, you should still get the same frame you did while calibrating, as long as you had the journal open while calibrating and it is still opening to the same page. Like if your journal opened to a page without a capture/defeat on it while calibrating, it will be the same frame now as long as it is opening to a page like that.

I've done it that way several times and it's worked perfectly.

I JUST GOT SOMETHING!
Calibration for frames is the step right after creating the PID for an egg right??!!?!?!?

Sorry, I was confused about that part. @_@ Thought you guys were talking about initial calibration phase.

Gah, I feel like such a noob. Ok, so I'll just press "Start Game" on my AR load screen 14 seconds before my target time and see how it goes. d; Thanks guys for your help

Haha yes, after you have your egg ready is when you calibrate for frames. Then you choose a spread based upon what frame you're getting. Good luck!

I don't get what you're saying, I was going to delete my post but I forgot to, it's set once I take the pokemon from the man.
