I think the Glenn Beck bashing is a bit unwarranted (on this subject anyway). I watched the show that everyone is referencing and the only thing he objected to was the government FORCING certain groups of people to get the vaccine (like health care workers, etc.) He didn't rail against the vaccine itself... just the government mandate. Rather, his idea was that if the health care professionals in the field thought the vaccine was worthwhile, then the hospital administration itself could require its employees to get the vaccine. It was simply the government intrusion (and the obviously slippery slope entailed) that Mr. Beck condemned. You can argue that point as well, but let's be accurate in our criticism.
Keep in mind that those are confirmed deaths only - a lot of countries have stopped counting by now, which is why medical professionals consider that an underestimate. In the US the total is roughly 1000.I'm fairly certain swine flu has killed less people than the regular flu has, but yes the rapid spreading is what they are worried about.
So far the death toll of H1N1 is 5382
Any other administration, regardless of party, would have declared an emergency as well. Public health isn't exactly a partisan issue.I would never knowingly accept a vaccine that has been rushed out in about a year. There has been no true long-term testing done, and as of right now Obama calling a state of emergency on H1N1 was the stupidest fucking thing I've seen in a long time, and will only make this media-driven panicstorm even worse.
Mr. Beck is still being completely ridiculous. The government obviously has the right to protect the safety of the public, and the public will obviously not be safe if a bunch of hospital employees who work with people with swine flu all day long get the flu themselves and can't come to work leaving hospitals understaffed during an epidemic. That'd really suck. In fairness he's probably right that most every hospital would mandate it anyway, but I'd definitely rather have the regulations than an unsafe hospital.I think the Glenn Beck bashing is a bit unwarranted (on this subject anyway). The government has no rights, as an entityThe government obviously has the right to protect the safety of the public
The type of viewers who watch Glenn Beck for any reason other than comedy truly do believe the government has been sent from Kenya and Iraq at the same time and that their one and only mission is to destroy America from the inside so that the gays can corrupt their children. The man is a raving lunatic. Last year he was calling the health care system in America absolutely horrible due to how much trouble he had getting treated. This year he says it's the best health care in the world just because the government wants to reform it. There is no explaining logic with people like that.I find it freaking hilarious how Glenn Beck is practically exploding over the government "invading our bloodstreams" by providing vaccinations over H1N1. Is that guy trying to actively kill his viewers or what?
Back on topic, I've already gotten vaccinated, and can safely say that I have not experienced any abnormal side effects or anything like that, other than the typical sore arm that comes with getting any other flu shot. If people want to not get vaccinated, they can go right ahead. Just be sure to eat and drink plenty of chicken soup and orange juice. Honestly, I don't see why everyone is so afraid of getting vaccinated for H1N1 when it's pretty much just like any other flu shot.

Then again, he said it himself, he'll do the exact opposite of what the government wants to do - no mater how illogical.
If it does mutate into some mega-death virus, well nothings really been controlling our population thus far, and maybe H1N1 is going to cut us back to a million or so. Survival of the fittest seems like a good way to keep the population under control, if a little barbaric.
Theres no point really, I had swine flu and it seemed just like a normal flu except a tiny bit worse, I missed a week off school, had some antibiotics and was fine :P media hypes up way too much
