Battling 101 Q&A

Is it ok that we seem to keep getting more tutor applications? Like will that influence the number of tutors so far?

Tutors are not allowed to post their profiles in the thread unless we accept them first. You are only seeing profiles of the tutors that have been accepted, so don't worry about that.

I'm wondering: is it likely that the threads will be open in the next 10 days?
I just started posting today and I'd LOVE to join the program (I know the basics but I'm terrible at things like team building) since I wanted to be tutored for a long time, but I'm just concerned that it might be closed soon.

In other words, how long should I expect those threads to last?

The sign-up threads will remain open until we feel like there are too many people waiting. I cannot give you a "yes" or a "no," but I would say that it is likely that the sign-up threads will still be open in 10 days. The way this new system works is, you basically sign up and wait in line until your turn is up. Because of that, the only real reason to ever close the sign-up threads is if it gets so packed, that it would take months to even get to all the people who signed up.

just wanted to say that i like the way this program is now being run. the old way made it hard to get in if you were late or were like me and kept missing sign ups lol

good idea guys *thumbs up*

Philip7086, I have a couple of questions: first, does the 10 posts measure mean that I have to have made that number of posts in the last month or it also counts in general?

Second, right now there are no tutors available in Zone C, so if I have requested for one in that zone means that I have to wait until someone appears in it? or the rest of tutors can take care of the other zones too?

Thanks.

We took out the "in the last month" part so don't worry about that. Also, it's 15 posts in at least 10 separate days, not 10 posts. Do not worry about Zone C, we have a few tutors for that time so far, but just haven't gotten around to assigning them yet. It will be done soon.

I like the new changes but with one of the most touted goals of the tutor sysem being introducing new people in the threads and IIRC i don't know about the post count but i don't know how bad people where leaving after they signed up. But anyways, best of luck in keeping things going, and I hope it turns out well.

Just trying to clear something up for myself...

Do I need to make 15 posts everyday for 10 days? Or does my total post count need to be at least 15 from posting a few times each day for 10 days?

The latter. You're already in, though, so I wouldn't worry too much about that :).

Oh... for some reason I thought I was still in question...

Thanks for clearing that up

I have a question

If you learn stuff with your tutor, but you still want to get tutored more, can you sign up again and how? Do you have to go to another timezone or simply post again and wait again?

I have a question for philip.

Can anyone be too good to be tutored? Like, I wanna enter the next program. I don't think im very good yet. And could you possibly tutor me?

Hi! I've been logged in this forums for a couple of weeks when I found about this "Competitive Pokemon" stuff, and I really want in, but I'm also concerned about one thing:

How can I just start posting around in the site being the noob that I am related to pokemon? I mean, I'm playing my first time through Diamond and I've been on it for like 14 hours and just got my 3rd badge. I would really like to get a tutor... what do you recommend me to do?

Also, great site, great system, great everything. See ya!

A general question not meant to downplay any of the efforts of the Tutoring staff.

If a new member shows up and knows nothing about Pokemon, where are they supposed to make their 15 posts? It seems like any member looking to be tutored wouldn't know enough about competitive Pokemon to make constructive posts...

hey listen can u tell me my time slot? I live in India and GMT is +5:30

The time slot is completely based on when you are awake, not where you live. Just google a time converter and type in the hours you are normally awake/online, and convert them to EST (GMT-5 I think)

Zone A: 2AM-10AM
Zone B: 10AM-6PM
Zone C: 6PM-2AM
That is roughly local time for you ayush (give or take half an hour).

We'll if you feel like you can get better then go for it.

Even ipl has gotten tutored before (albeit in UU).

When you say: you must have made at least 15 posts on at least 10 separate days before signing up. You mean I can't post 15 posts all in one day, but I can post one post everyday for ten days o_o? or are you saying that I can post 2 posts one day 3 posts second day, until I get to day number 10, where I must have 15 posts.

just clarifying the meaning. =P

All it means is that you have at least 15 posts, and you have posted on at least 10 separate days.

All there is to it.

Are certain tutors only available for certain things? Like if I say that I want to learn Stall OU, for example, would that be taken into consideration when my turn is up?

They can teach all styles of play, but not all of them play all of the tiers. If you play stall They'll try to find an available stall expert. if none are available they'll find you another mentor who can teach stall.
