Why not he is constantly among the top scorers in La Liga, consistantly scores against the big teams, has an outstanding record at National level, is better then Torres, not all that injury prone one of the most clinical strikers in the world and has been the most consistent goal scorer for about the last five years. If he was at one of the even bigger clubs he would be regarded as the best striker by an absolute mile.

He has scored at least 20 goals a season for the last 7 years, with much worse service then Rooney, Drogba and pretty much any other striker considered among the best.

Yes, my list was my opinion. I don't see Forlan as a top 10 striker.

Has somebody even watched those Youtube vids?

I am 99% sure Luis Suárez is one of the best football players of the world in 5 years and is in the starting lineup of an European topclub. When Ajax played against Juventus in the Europe League, Suárez was suspended (he got an elbow in the match in Amsterdam and was on the ground, the referee gave yellow for a schwalbe while he didn't do a schwalbe) and went to Turin with the group, the coach said to coach his teammates before the game (he is team captain), but he probably talked with the Juventus-club leading about a transfer to Juventus.

Look at Zlatan Ibrahimovic: When he played for Ajax, everyone thought he would be a faillure, but he plays for Barcelona now, and played for Juventus and Internazionale before. Suárez performs better for Ajax than Ibrahimovic did.

High bids (30.000.000 Euro-70.000.000 Euro concrete bids, some rumors about some 200.000.000 Euro bids, I am not sure if I should believe that) from many topclubs (Most interested and concrete bids: FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Juvents, Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan) and loving words of Arsene Wegner and Alex Ferguson should make clear Suárez is ready for the international top.

The clubs offering the most (only concrete bids) are Juventus and Arsenal.

Ajax is European subtop, so I am afraid Suárez leaves Ajax for Juventus in the summer transfer period.

Well ATM I'd have to put Oscar Cardozo somewhere on that list. Maybe also Saviola, with his resurgence.

are you serious? cardozo always vacillates in games unless he is like 5 meters away from the goal line and saviola hasn't scored in forever

and besides, the only good thing about cardozo is his shot, he's a really incomplete striker, unable to pick up game in the midfield and score, he needs a lot of support from wingers and attacking midfielders if he's gonna score some goals, he's just too slow to do anything on his own except shooting, and to be fair, his left foot shot is one of the best around at the moment, and saviola has whited out in the last 3 or 4 games, having scored like 1 goal, that's really bad, saviola needs to get his morale up, he's given us some unbelievable treats since he arrived at benfica, he needs to regain his form if he even dreams of making the bench on argentina's national team

Maybe an opinion list about best goalkeepers?

Mine.

1 Buffon (Juventus)
2 Van Der Sar (Manchester United)
3 Reina (Liverpool)
4 Frey (Fiorentina)
5 Cech (Chelsea)
6 Stekelenburg (Ajax, first keeper of the Dutch national team)
7 Cesar (Internazionale)
8 Boschker (FC Twente)
9 Valdes (FC Barcelona)
10 Rost (Hamburger SV)

No Casillas? I would rate Wiese,Neuer, and possibly Adler all better then Rost as well when it comes to the German Keepers.

Maybe Forlan just got better with age, maybe the EPL has better defences but you have to be atleast decent to be a two time golden boot winner and to be able to score 32 goals in 33 league games, i would put money on him getting 15 league goals easily if he was to come back to the EPL.

Half of your list doesn't even deserve to be on that list. Where is Casilias? How can you even believe that someone like Boschker, who hasn't played outside the Dutch Eredivisie, is better then Valdes? It's just rubbish

Well that's relative.
Cisse isn't in the premier league, Rooney's not on the greek league. It's hard to compare them.
True that those leagues have a big difference in quality, but to bring down a player's ability based on that is kinda of a low blow.
If that were to be applied (and unfortunatly, it is, by the coeficients UEFA uses to determine the Golden Boot winner), a player, no matter how good he is, would always be dismissed on the grounds of playing in the wrong country.

Seriously?

(I do not think Cisse>Rooney, just using it as an example)

this is true, but what I'm getting at is that the level of opposition does play a role, so the top scorer in *insert random league here* is probably not better than the household names, even if you want to think he is.

Sorry for my keeper list. It is my opinion.

Boschker in FC Groningen-FC Twente and in FC Twente-Roda JC (for people who have seen these games or summaries). But good, maybe he should go some places on my list down.

Stekelenburg deserves to be on that list.

And Buffon deserves it even more. The best keeper in the world (in my opinion).

Oh goalkeepers. Hard to make a rank out of them... because if I did, I'd probably put 4 or 5 that aren't starters atm. There are just so many good GKs being relegated to the bench for no good reason. Some for making one or two-time mistakes, other for being deemed too old, even though they're not as GKs last much longer than field players (Toldo, Dudek...).

I can, however, make a list of the best ever, for me at least.

1- Lev Yashin
2- Michel Preud'homme
3- Peter Schmeichel
4- Oliver Khan
5- Dino Zoff
6- Buffon
7- Chilavert
8- Barthez
9- Rogerio Ceni
10- Van Der Sar

man why am I not surprised you put preud'homme, not that I have any objections against it, he was a damn good goalie, but I'm sure most people would just forget about him

also lol you put barthez, he's ass

I'm not brainstuck in benfica ;)
He displayed his talent in the Belgian national team years before he came here. You know, when Belgium was actually a decent team.
He was the best keeper of the '94 world cup, and would be a candidate to repeat it hadn't his coutry slumped in quality.

But then again, that's exactly what I meant when I say GK is an unfair position, there are lots of good keepers hindered by various reasons.

Julio Cesar is by far the best keeper in the world. Cassilas still makes a lot of mistakes.

I agree with Julio Cesar being the best keeper. But i wouldn't scratch Casillas from any list, he is a very reliable goal keeper.

Anyway i was surprised by Argentina winning in Munich, i didn't saw that coming. Uruguay performed well against Switzerland and Spain defeated France without problems, they only needed half time to win the game and the second half they weren't serious.

Hope there are some mexicans here because damn, those 2 goals vs New Zealand were great. Vela and Chicharito DEFINITELY need to be in the World Cup.

I agree, they should use Vela and Hernandez instead of Franco, they are performing better and they are faster.

Blanco is not in shape, he was slow and sort of clumsy even.

Yeah Blanco seemed very erratic vs New Zealand, but who knows, maybe he will get back in form before the lists are announced and get a spot.

As for Mexico's team, I think this should be the guys that go to the WC:

- Guillermo Ochoa
- Luis Michel
- Jonathan Orozco

- Gerardo Torrado
- Gringo Castro
- Efraín Juárez
- Carlos Salcido
- Ricardo Osorio
- Masa Rodriguez
- Hector Moreno
- Oscar Rojas

- Andres Guardado
- Jonatan Dos Santos
- Giovani Dos Santos
- Chema Cardenas
- Cuauhtemoc Blanco
- Fausto Pinto
- Israel Castro
- Braulio Luna

- Chicharito Hernandez
- Carlos Vela
- Alberto Medina/Vicente Matias Vuoso
- Miguel Sabah/Guillermo Franco

Those are my top picks at the moment, quite possibly add Pardo there, but he has been quite innefective lately, which can be said for Nery Castillo and some others which would have been no-brainers a few years ago. Aldo de Nigris is another person I would like to see, although Sabah is in good form and is passing a good moment.

In my opinion, Peter Schmeichel is the greatest goalkeeper of all time. Not just statistically, but also for his personality and what he brought to the game.

Well about Banks, even though I try to be impartial in these discussion, but it's a bit hard for me to think about anything about '66 other than kicking Portugal out of Goodison Park (our turf on that WC) into Wembley for the semifinal in a cheap mindgame to affect Portugal's morale.
And the *chough* final *cough*.

But yeah, I may have precipitated a bit on that list, a keeper that managed to stop Eusebio (why do ppl only remember Pele?) deserves his spot there.
And I didn't put Barthez there for his later years... He was quite the man until the Euro 2000. Not so much after.

High bids (30.000.000 Euro-70.000.000 Euro concrete bids, some rumors about some 200.000.000 Euro bids

Seriously, what the eff are you smoking?! He's a very good player, I'll give you that, but those prices are absurd for someone like Suarez. Van Nistelrooy moved to Manchester United for around 30 million and he was better than Suarez is now.

And 200.000.000?! That's more than double of Cristiano Ronaldo! Of course, that's bullshit.

Oh, wait putting Stekelenburg in the top 10 goalies in the world... Put of those rose-tinted, Ajax-branded glasses please and take a sniff of reality.

I also think 200.000.000 Euro rumors are bullshit. Ronaldo>Suárez for now, in five years Suárez>Ronaldo.

Has anybody even watched the Youtube vids?

The concrete bids from 30.000.000 Euro-70.000.000 Euro are concrete and I think 60.000.000 Euro is the prize he is worth. The notable bids Suárez considers in the summer transfer period are FC Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Stekelenburg is a very good goalie. First keeper of the Dutch national team. Maybe you should search some Maarten Stekelenburg-saves on Youtube. Maybe a 6th place is too good for him, but he should be in the top 10.

Favorite formation?

I prefer 4-3-3 and 4-1-2-1-2 (4-4-2 window), but mostly 4-3-3.

Best players on the world: The perfect team (please also make your own).

Messi-Ibrahimovic-Suárez
Ronaldinho-Iniesta-Ronaldo
Maxwell-Henrique-Terry-Ferdinand
Buffon

Coach: Louis van Gaal.

Bench: Van Der Sar, Kompany, Puyol, Pirlo, Kaká, Gerrard, Rooney, Drogba.

Maybe some players on wrong positions, but this could do well.

I know I don't even have a bench place some very good players. But if I have to choose, this is it.

Do not complain about Suárez in the starting lineup.

Xavi is the best midfielder in the world and didn't even make the bench, and Maxwell would not come close to making the team not even the 3rd best LB in the world? I would also move Ronaldo higher up the pitch over Suarez and put in a defending midfielder like de rossi, essien or cambiasso.

Ronaldo - Villa - Messi

Ronaldinho/Iniesta - Xavi
Essien

Evra/Cole - Puyol - Ferdinand - Alves

Casillas
