Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Does anyone have any tips on ID abusing on desmume ds emulator with HG (I'm using savestates). I get a nearly matching ID but my ID was off by 2 digits.

Ok, I tried my first RNG run, and failed miserably. I have 3 doubts about what I did.

1. I found my target time, which was 14:01:11, so I set my clock to 13:59:00. At 14:01:00 I reset my game. Was I doing anything wrong?

2. According to Smogon, the first journal page with caught/defeated pokemon doesn't count as a flip. But BearsFan092's video says it does. Who is right?

3. I followed BearsFan092's journal flips, and my flips came to 5. I went back and fourth to the first page (which said caught pokemon) 4 times. Do the other pages that don't have caught/defeated pokemon on them count as flips?

Help please?

If it takes you 11 seconds to enter the game world then you did that correctly. Is 11 your common seconds?

If there is a caught/defeated Pokemon on the initial page of the Journal, that does increase the frame by +2. However, this would have been accounted for during your calibration, thus the guide says not to count it as it has already been applied.

Only pages which have caught/defeated Pokemon count. A good method is to catch a random Pokemon the day before you place the parents into Day Care, then a second the day you do put them into Day Care. This way the first two pages will be back-to-back with a caught Pokemon and you can alternate between those two.

Edit: Too slow.

Right, after a long break Ive come back to all this RNG stuff, and have pretty much cracked it in DP, but obviously HGSS are now out and I want to RNG for Raikou. I havent RNG'd a wandering legend before as I dont own Plat, just wondering if its a similar concept in HGSS? Reading through the thread it seems like its difficult if not impossible without an emulator - at this stage is it to ambitious for a relatively new RNGer to attempt?

Use a real cart you cheapskate ^_^

So basically the only thing I did wrong was the time?
Looks like it, but youalso have to hit the correct delay for your seed, then the correct frame for your IVs
While rnging for wild pokemon is the nature always the one shown on the rng reporter?
If everything on the reporter is input correct, then when you catch that pokemon, on that frame, then it will be nothing but what reporter says it should be.

EDIT: Akayfortyseven no its very possible, I did Raikou by defeating the E4 on a real cart. but I believe it would have been alot easier to abuse him when they 1st get released in the tower

My common seconds was actually 12 during calibration, but during the actual RNG both of them were 11. Maybe I was mashing the A button quicker during the actual thing. Anyway, what if used a 14 seconds in the time finder, mashed A, waited until 14 seconds and then pressed continue? Would that still work?

Lmao, I get my 2 real carts next thursday lol
Haha I get my SS on thursday too, gotta go into the city to collect it cos thats where I preordered it. Will be good to actually play this game with understanding it all lol at the moment when the phone rings I just ignore it cos I have no clue what they are trying to tell me!!
So i dont need a synch abra it wont affect anything right?
If your not using a sync in reporter then no you don't need a sync

Yes, but be aware that that would effect your delays.

Does it have to be the exact delay, because when I click Generate Adjacent Results it gives me a range?

@Rename Card: Thank you very much. I should master it by this Sunday (I hope...)

I plan to 'abuse' before they are released. I guess theres no way to get a good spread for both Entei and Raikou at the same time?

And from what Ive read I calculate delay/seed etc with the usual methods, its just frame advancement that seems to be a grey area at the moment.

Yes you need to be exact. 1 off on your delay will give a totally different list of spreads
That happens to me all the time -_-. Sometimes I have to change the spread I picked and go for a higher or lower dealy. Lately I've been able to get a delay of 598 and my usaual I use for legends is 608 and 604.

They are both method 1 and i honestly doubt you will get two 'great' spreads on the same seed, it is possible to get 1 'great' and the other 'ok' cos I did it with all 3 birds on my 1st playthru on Platinum

Its not really a grey area, its just because each seed reacts differently, detuning the radio is a great way of doing it, but you need to know how your seed will react to it before you can make a definite decision on how many times to do it. The most reliable way is to walk 128 steps in a pokemon free zone, that will always without fail advance your frame by the number in your party

Is there any way to make sure you get an exact delay?

Just keep resetting until you get it lol
thanks 1 more question what frame do we start on as soon as we start the game?
0, so if you want a magikarp fish for frame 4, or subtract 4 from your target frame
EDIT: you also need to worry about how many roamers you have, for each one you have released that will increase your starting frame by one. if you have 0 roamers you start on 0, 2 roamers you start on 2 etc

Ah I see. Well I will probably go for just the one then. Still new to this so I expect it will take a lot of practice. So the spread is set when they flee from the tower? So walking towards them until that moment will advance the frame as well? Something I need to take into account.

So if my fame is 6 so its 6-4 1/2 =1 right?

You are very correct. your picking this up alot quicker than alot of other people so I doubt you'll have too much trouble with it :)

if you want frame 6, you subtract 4 because you are fishing which leaves 2, 1/2 of 2 is 1 so you will need to do one journal flip to get your magikarp on frame 6
