Hey dudes, are the elemental punches worth considering for Alakazam?

It depends. If you're going to use them towards GSC battling, than I haven't a clue. Plus, you wouldn't ask that question here if you were going to use it for GSC battles, so, clearly you're going to use/think they may work in RBY. Alakazam being classed as a "mini-Chansey" (no one argue about me saying that, seriously, we're not having this discussion yet again) in RBY does mean something. Due to its very high base Special (135) it can be quite the offensive Pokemon as well. It reaches a max Special stat of 368, and if you have the right moves on Alakazam, they sure can put the hurt on anything that gets switched in unprepared.
But anyway, all this jabbering of mine has a point. The elemental punches on Alakazam sounds like a great idea, but in the end, if you know your RBY battling, you'll realize that his STAB Psychic does a fair amount to almost everything in RBY and whatever resists Psychic gets a Seismic Toss to the face... well, Seismic Tosses.
I have played RBY with GSC tradebacks, mainly because when I first started playing RBY I thought having such moves on Alakazam would be cool, which they are, but you also wonder "hm, what punches should I put on 'kazam?". Ice Punch seems like a great choice and a logical one at that mainly because it can put the hurt on things that like to switch into it, such as Golem/Rhydon (only if your opponent predicts a Thunder Wave) and Exeggutor (many more things like to come in on it, like Chansey, Tauros, etc., but you get the gist of my point), but what people don't see is that STAB Psychic does
just as much to those mentioned Pokemon as Ice Punch. Well, STAB Psychic does just a bit more damage to Golem/Rhydon, but in the end it's still going to be a 2HKO unless you score a crit., which in Alakazam's case, happens quite a bit (and Ice Punch is a 3HKO on Exeggutor, so IMO I'd rather just stay in one more turn and kill it off with a 4th Seismic Toss, unless I've been Paralyzed and predict an Explosion, but I rarely go toe to toe against Eggy with a 'kazam anyway).
The best use of an elemental punch on Alakazam would have to be (and IMO) Thunderpunch. I say this because Psychic 2HKO's (1HKO Crit.) Golem/Rhydon; Seismic Toss keeps Exeggutor and other things that resist Psychic/Amnesia users somewhat at bay; and Thunderpunch can put a hurt on things like Starmie/Slowbro/Lapras (non-CH 3HKO's all three).
In the end, they're really not satisfying results, so even though it sounds awesome for Alakazam to have the elemental punches, they just don't do enough sufficient damage. It's really not worth removing a precious move slot from Alakazam for the elemental punches. If you wanted to make it a surprise to your opponent, much like how Counter/Sing Chansey is, than you can always put Thunderpunch (or Fire/Ice Punch) on it in the 4th moveslot that everyone argues to themselves about what to put on Alakazam. That decision to put Reflect, Kinesis, and Seismic Toss (or Thunder Wave, to some people, as they like like to think Seismic Toss is more important on 'kazam than Thunder Wave) on it.
So there you go -- it wasn't a real "simple answer", but I like to give more information to pack more of a "punch". It's best if you just use traditional Alakazam, with his mighty Special stat and Speed stat to be a speedy paralysis spammer and somewhat decent special wall when need be (and at times a late game sweeper when Chansey, Starmie, Slowbro, and Exeggutor are no longer and if you're not paralyzed).

they are tradebacks so it depends under what rules you are playing
