Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hit the seed to time button. Select what ever time and delay you are going for, and hit generate, you can search through the possible coin flips to know how much you were off.

Also, it should just display at the bottom right.

Edit:

Sometimes it is possible that there is another delay nearby that will have the same coin flips, nothing to be done about this, it just sucks.
Thanks!
It's fine though... none of the other delays have the same coin flips as the one im going after :P
Also, is it ok if the journal pops up when i start the game? If not, should i just save on the target time?

My friends and I have been having trouble getting the RNG Reporter to work with European Pokemon. Is there any documentation regarding this, or if there's another method?

You will have to be more specific than "trouble getting the RNG Reporter to work".

OD, can I ask you one noob question? lol
How do you RNG the Johto starter (RNGed my ID/SID for shiny spread)? Also, compare to breeding (in DPPt, planned to transfer it there), which method consume more time?

EDIT: Nevermind, please ignore this reply; already got the answer :D

I have a question about breeding in HG/SS versus in D/P/Pt:

If there is a spread on frame 1 of HG/SS breeding that will give me my desired egg IVs with the parents I have, and I do not require a specific gender or ability, will it be easier to do my breeding in HG/SS than in Platinum?

I always found the D/P/Pt egg calibration step to be very lengthy and often still got different frames, and I understand I don't need to do it in HG/SS since there's only one NPC. When I'm setting the egg's PID, if I check my seed and it turns out that the nature I want would require me to take too many eggs before saving, I could simply soft-reset until I get a seed that gets me my nature on a minimal frame (since the nature is all that matters).

Specifically that Egg Natures (Normal and International) don't provide the same nature as given in the RNG Reporter if a European Pokemon is used in the breed.

Full-blown details, please. What parents, did you verify your seed and how, what nature did you expect, what nature did you get.

I'm attempting to RNG Raikou in the Burned Tower and Sweet-Scenting pokemon to verify that I've hit the right delay. Does doing so advance the frame by some number?

So my first RNGd poke was great. But now, I'm trying to get an Empoleon and I can't seem to hit the right delay. Is there any way to influence the delay? I got lucky with my Rhyperior =.=

Delay is all timing. You can change it from odd to even by putting a GBA Pokemon game in Slot 2 (after you've activated Pal Park), or by canceling the Continue menu, then going back to it. That's all you can do.

We have guides to this on the front page, you know. Like this one.

I'm attempting to RNG Raikou in the Burned Tower and Sweet-Scenting pokemon to verify that I've hit the right delay. Does doing so advance the frame by some number?

Yes, to some number of frames beyond the Method 1 frame of the Pokemon you caught.

Alright, so are we absolutely sure that nothing in the Elite 4 rooms advance the frame other than walking 128 steps? 'Cause I'm getting inconsistent results with roamer respawns.

First I faint all 3 roamers on the map, then save my game right in front of the Indigo Plateau door, facing forward w/ my first party member right behind me, also facing forward. I land on the seed that I'm looking for and advance to frame 227, then I run forward through the first room as fast as possible, mashing A to get past the guard as fast as possible (all to limit the movement of that one NPC in this room). Once in the first Elite 4 chamber, I take the shortest number of steps required to defeat each successive trainer, beat Lance, save the game, and return to the title screen. Upon restarting my game and catching the roamers for verification, Entei seems to have been generated on frame 242, Raikou on frame 247, and Latias on frame 252.

So I restart, faint the 3 roamers again, and return to Indigo Plateau to save my game in the exact same position as before. I land on the same seed, this time advancing to frame 217, and proceed through the Elite 4 building in the same manner as I did previously. After beating Lance, restarting, and catching the roamers once more, this time Entei is generated on frame 226, while Raikou is generated on frame 231.

There is a 15-frame gap in the first run and a 9-frame gap in the second run, and I can't figure out why. Did I overlook something? Do any in-battle actions mess with the RNG? What about potion usage and party order switching outside of battle? Kind of stumped here.

EDIT: Right after posting and re-reading this, I notice that it's a 6-frame discrepancy while I was using a party of 6..... Nevermind.

At least I'm getting some EXP and cash out of this. -_-

Still having problems with the Journal Entries.

I understand how to advance the frame with them, but I am having trouble finding dates that have the required information on them.

Right now I am saved with a Shiny infront of me, consistently hitting frame 10. I need to hit frame 14, however none of my journal entries have me catching a Pokemon.

Is there anything else I can do? Or any way to get the journal entries right?

There isn't. You have to go fight a bunch of Pokemon.

Ah, so from my position I have to go catch a bunch of Pokemon and then re-do my frame testing, since my save will be different eh?

To be sure:

My initial page has a catch, if I press A once I go to a page without catch messages, keeping me at frame 10, I then hit B to go to the initial page and go up to 12, then A, then B back to the initial up to 14?

Also Omega:

Is there a way to calculate whether my delay will be even or odd at a certain time? It seems like every time I find a spread I can only get odd if I need even, and the other way around if I need odd.

I just RNG'd some wild pokemon according to their encounter slots.
BTW, how about trying to correct some of the values listed there?
(from that website with a list of encounter slots and their corresponding pokes)

Since there are mistakes there, as proven on my attempt to expect a wild Zubat from Mt.Moon...but I got a Geodude instead (with the same desired seed, but of course it's the wrong pokemon).
It says there that slot #2 is Zubat, but I got instead a Geodude.

Okay...

So, I hit frame 8 in my calibration.

My opening journal (A) has 'caught a magikarp on it'

My next journal (B) has no catches on it,

I start at frame 10 and:

Start at A --> 8
Go to B --> 8
Go to A --> 10
Go to B --> 10
Go to A --> 12
Go to B -->12
Go to A --> 14
Hit B, pick up egg.

Miss completely, end up at frame 22 (consistently), what did I do?

Next attempt:

Start at A --> 8
Go to B --> 8
Go to A --> 10
Hit B, Pick up Egg.

Ended up at 15 with the right delay (Was one off my mark =()

Wait, that statement is a bit confusing. Can you re-word that? How many frames are advanced?

You know the "Actual" column in the Method K list I keep telling everyone to ignore? That's the Method 1 frame equivalent. So if you catch a Pokemon, and its IVs\nature match frame 5, but under "Actual" it says 37, you are on frame 37 + some number of frames I don't know. I think it's 8 or 6, but haven't tested.

Well, I still have no idea how it worked, but it worked. Hit my mark, and my 31/31/31/31/31/31 Baton Pass Shiny Female Technician Scyther is alive! (Holy, what a name)

Would still like some information on the specifics, if possible though

What do you have written on page B of your journal? it's not just "catching" text that advance your frames; "defeated" text also advance them. Read the first page carefully :D

Here's something I've been wondering. The title of this thread is "All Generation PRNG Help / Information", but there's only information about the 3rd and 4th generation. I understand that there's just not much interest in the first and second generation games, seeing as they're not compatible with later generations, but I for one would love to see their RNGs cracked.

Has anyone done any research into this, and if so, what do we know? I know there are no natures, the DVs range from 0-15, not 0-31, and shininess is based on the DVs (generation II only). Is the RNG similar to the 3rd and 4th generations, or is it completely different?

If we don't know anything, how would we go about finding out? I don't know what the process was to crack the Emerald and DPPt RNG, but is there any possibility of doing something similar? It's likely that the old RNG is either very similar to the current one or much simpler, so it might not be too difficult. Is there anybody interested in this at all?

Yeah the link Mr. Sabeleye posted is all we have here and i have to say its an interesting idea but as for taking time to research it is another story since it isn't as practical as 3rd generation or 4th generation RNG research.

Ok well i have a question. Is there a id/sid combo that will increase my chances of finding a wild shiny? Also I don't understand how to rng for a shiny egg on soul silver, any help?

Also could somebody help me understand using the encounter slots to find wild pokemon. I'm really confused on this.

My friend was breeding it, so I don't have everything offhand. Believe it was a Totodile breed, Spanish Totodile line was one of the parents, believe an American Ditto was the other parent. Adamant was the nature going for I believe, don't know what nature came out (definitely wasn't Adamant though). It wasn't my breed.

I do have some other Spanish Pokemon though if someone wants me to look into it and draw up an actual table.

Need help..

Can someone in this thread find time to help explain to me how I can rng abuse and everything? I am reading everything you guys are saying and I just cannot grasp it. I downloaded the rng reporter thing and the verifier. Im trying to get a really good or at least flawless mewtwo in Soul Silver at the moment and since I don't know how to RNG abuse at all I can't really do anything and soft resetting this mewtwo is getting a tad bit boring.
