I agree with Rein. Pokemon has been one of the only games not to follow other trends and
that still has some originality.
Edit: So inappropriate(below post)
Edit 2: Chuckling while typing the directly above.

Exactly my point. Fusions are meant for computer viruses and playing cards. I used to watch both, but I began getting destrought when the 2 focused waaay to much on making the main character's these indestructible "heroes" and forgot about all the other monsters they created. It's nice to see a game where everything still makes sense.

Also lets not forget how many they would have to make.

Sorry about double post, my bad

It's fun when you just want to go all out, but not when your trying to be serious. I enjoy the "king of the hill" one where you have to fit in the circles, and the circles get really small for chaotic. Lol. In the wrestling mini game, you can drop kick other Pokemon!

I'm not sure I see the Pokeathlon as serious. It's just too happy! Yea. The King of the Hill one is "Circle Push." The CPUs don't put much of a fight so if there is no one around to play with you, it's not great. Playing with real players is fun though. We're all "grrr" and stuff. It's great. Yea. Ring Drop is my absolute favorite event. The bigger your Pokemon, the better. I like making my Donphan jump up and when it lands, all these Pokemon go flying! They all have a fun factor to them but Pennant Capture. You just move around the difficult course and try to grab the flags while the CPUs are moving like it's so easy. If you play with friends, everyone is struggling to get the flags. The controls for that thing is bad...

That is also a problem. A unique animation for each of about 600 Pokemon (counting gen 5). Spinda already has 4,294,967,296 (232) different forms (see Bulbapedia, where I got the number), no need for that + 600 forms (1 for each fusion) and over twice as much if you count shinies. For a formless poke, that's 1202 or so animations, counting shinies.

Play Circle Push or Ring Drop with Groudon- they can't move him very easily.
I use Megainuim (same stats) and it works great. Wait...if the Pokelathon comes....than that means....Apricorns!!!

lol. I love saying "Megainium has a lot of skill!" After I feed it the juices for the Snowball Fight and the like. If you look at Bulbapedia (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokéathlon) almost each stat is present in each event, but the evnts are based of the main 2. You need good jump to drop kick Pokemon. lol

I really would like playing online w/ the Pokelathon.

OMG I use Meganium too! Meganium is good at soccer but unfortunately, mine lacks Power so I have to spend a good amount of time collecting Red Apricorn. I'd love to see more Fighting style Pokeathlon events and some more throwing ones like Snow Throw (but more fun). Swimming would be cool but how would that work?

It's just not Pokemon-like. It fits in with Pokemon as much as politics...possibly even less.

No, I disagree. There's no reason it isn't Pokémon like. You might have said the same thing about held items before GSC. "What? Held Items? That's something only JRPGs do."

Now, that doesn't make fusions a good idea (indeed, it'd be a very limited idea, based on just how massive it'd have to be implimented) but that doesn't mean it's impossible or non-Pokemon like.

Fusions are gay. Fusions is was killed Dragon Ball Z's neverending 'Goku vs Gohan' fight when they haxxed up SSJ4 Gogeta. No need for it to kill Pokemon, too.
Anyways, fusions would be WAAAAY too hard on the developers. Seriously, That's at least 495 sprites for each pokemon: normal, shiny, and FUSIONS. I suggest we stick to the normal and not have some gay cheap Spiritidinga (Spiritomb+Shedinja, Ability hackers, you know what I'm talking about) or a hacked ArceuChomp Fusion to plague the interwebs and Pokemon. Fusions is terrible.
A good addition is triple types, quadruple evolutions (getting more intense by the minute), more types, more conviency (items with the push of 2 to 3 buttons, aka a Hotkey like L+X+R or Pokecenter and Pokemart together or less useless houses with random people saying obvious crap) and same level Gym and E4 Battles, so it wouldnt be that goddamn easy to beat the game.

Held items don't change the Pokemon into morphed freaks. Fusion takes two Pokemon and turn them into one monster. That sounds Pokemon-like to you?

@Ruby: I feel you. I've been wanting to say how stupid fusions are without being mean to all these kids that think it's...oh...so...cool!

Fusions make Time and Light-types sound like the perfect idea and it makes Plastic, Glass, or whatever other types sound pretty good so that's saying something...

It would completely tear apart Pokemon. Here are the reasons why:
a) The fusions would be waaaaay too powerful.
b) There is no way to stop a rampage. And it's inevitable.
c) It makes no sense.
d) It's better left to Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh.
e) Pokemon would become completely un-origional
f) Battling would be too chaotic

I wholeheartedly agree. There would be no stall teams at all, what with the ~100 or more pokes that will inevitably be added, plus fusions would make the metagame even more offensive-based

That sounds like doubles. Some people don't like doubles because of how offensive it is but the thing is that it's fast paced. Singles are slow paced but it's less offensive. Fusions would make singles slow paced and more offensive which people would hate (not to mention how stupid fusions are) and doubles would be more slow paced which loses the purpose of doubles. Rein posted that again cuz he/she's tired of people bringing up the same crap about fusions.

Fusion debate by far. Light-type is 5% possible. Fusion is 0%...it's just too un-Pokemon-like (nice way of saying it's stupid).

Well lets remember Masudas blog said these games will make you ask " Is this really pokemon?" So Id raise that to 0.000000000000000000000000001 %

What about a new species that only comes about when breeding two different species, which has traits of both parents? Like breeding a Salamence to a Gyarados holding some new item to get a Water/Dragon winged serpent Pokemon?

What I would like to see is a Dragon Pokemon whose secondary type is determined by where the egg is hatched. Power Plant=Electric, Lake=Water, Snowy Mountain=Ice, Volcano=Fire.

Well, a type chart shift (new type or not) is plausible considering how crazy good steel and dragon types are. Light would be an awkward choice for that roll, because what does light do to dragons or metal. An anti-dragon/steal type might be Time, which would be SE against probably ground, steel, rock, and dragon (the former three subject to corrosion and erosion, and dragons beign loosely based off dinosaurs which are extinct), and no idea what would resist it, probably grass (growth), ghost (time being fairly meaningless), and poison (some poisons growing more potent with time). I know, just random bable.

1. That's a hybridization mechanic, not a fusion mechanic. A fusion takes two existing beings and fuses them, a hybrid takes the genes of two different things and splices them/combines them. I'd like that mechanic if we were ever to see an ice-typed donkey Pokemon (breeding it with Rapidash creates a water-typed mule mon...fire melts ice to get water,) but otherwise...no.
2. Nice idea. I'd love this. Still, Grass/Dragon for jungle please?
