So, I think I made a biiiiig mistake. It's my first time properly EV training, and I'm trying to get 124 SpA on my lovely new Beldum. I got him at level 1 and didn't know how else to infect him with Pokerus other than by battling with him and the Pokerus carrier in my party. I battled Psyducks and killed 9 of them before Pokerus.

Now, Psyducks give 2 SpA EVs and Golducks give 4. I didn't think about it at the time, but this means I can only wind up with an odd EV total in that stat, right? Since I can only gain them in groups of 2 or 4? Even the EV-reducing berries take away an even number of EVs.

He has 121 EVs right now and I can't think of any possible way to get him the last 3 without going over. If I finish off the rest of his training (252 Atk and 132 Spe), can I then kill 2 more Psyducks and only gain 3 EVs from it? Or should I just reset the game now since I haven't saved since I started EVing? *cringe*
The first EV reducing berry brings it down to 100 EVs, so that's the easiest way to fix it.

Yeah, I'm still confused over the actual EV totals given by power items and Pokerus.

First, does a power item add 4 EVs to what the wild Pokemon gives or just makes it four regardless? So, a Starly that gives 1 speed EV, with a Power Anklet, would give 5 speed EVs, correct?

Then, does Pokerus multiply the EVs received before or after the addition of the power item? So, which of the following would it be?:

Staravia gives 2 Speed EVs, multiplied by Pokerus to 4 and added by item to 8
or
Staravia gives 2 Speed EVs, added by item to 6 and multiplied by Pokerus to 12

---------------------------------------------------

Also, I just want to make sure I'm doing these spreads right. To get the following, with Pokerus and Power Items (no power item for the lowest EV total, just pokerus), how many pokemon of each kind (Bidoof for HP, Shinx for Atk, Geodude for Def, Mantyke for SpDef) would I have to battle for:

This spread:

252 HP / 136 Atk / 120 SpecDef

and this spread:

252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Def

Thanks in advance for the help.

Correct, and I'm almost positive it's the latter

Thanks. If anyone can help me with the spreads, that'd beg great, too. But, if not, that confirmed info will be good regardless.

Oh, thank goodness. You're a lifesaver!

Hm, seems like I have a lot to ask today. I'm trying to develop a Battle Tower team for HG/SS, and I'm at a bit of a loss of how to teambuild with only three Pokemon. Are there any guides to it? I've seen the occasional Battle Tower RNG, but with the search feature nonfunctional it's hard to find them.

whats a good pokeball for Palkia? Masterball? DiveBall?

Dusk Ball, since Spear Pillar is technically counted as still inside a cave and therefore the catch rate is boosted to 4 rather than 1.
Next best would be the Timer Ball, since Legendaries take a while to catch, and the catch rate is boosted every 10 turns until you reach a catch rate of 4 after 30 turns).
Then the Net Ball since Water-type makes it a catch rate of 3.
If that fails go use Ultras.

Okay thanks, I'll look into a DSi AR
Just to expand on what ZystraL said, you don't have to export XML files with Pokesav, you could just edit a save file directly. If you wanted to do that, you would have to dump your own Pokemon ROM to your computer, then put it on a flash card (such as R4i, Acekard2i, etc. [GBATemp is a good place to look up flash cards, Google it]), start a game, then edit the game's save file using Pokesav.

Either way works fine, I'm not entirely sure which is cheapest though so some research would help you.

The cost is still roughly similar in that you would need to buy either an AR or a flash card either way, but the XML -> Code method is definitely a lot easier.
You should ever really use save file modifications for really large scale changes, such as location, status, etc.

No, you need to go back into Clair's gym and speak to her. Then go with a spare slot in your party and collect Dratini. I was wondering why I couldn't get it, but when I went to Clair and got the TM I could then get the Dratini as the Elder shut up about Lugia.
Yeah, that seemed to do the trick. I received the TM from Clair and then saved in front of the Elder before speaking to him to receive the Dratini (so I can SR to get a good natured one). I also checked the one that I will soon receive and it will have ExtremeSpeed, so that's great.

Also, this isn't a real big serious question, but I was wondering why they put "x"'s on the IVs of Pokemon in the trade threads. Like, for example: "31/31/x/28/x/30". I understand they're not showing anything under 20 IVs, but why not just show them? I mean, I'm not into trade threads as I got use to simulators, but to me, I would want to know all the IVs of the Pokemon I may trade for.

They put an "x" on IVs that don't matter, like Attack on an Alakazam or Special Attack on a Skarmory. Or of course the majority of Shedinja's stuff. You don't usually see them on defensive IVs though (apart from the aforementioned Shedinja).

My question yet again: I use my Surfing Pikachu in the Battle Frontier. I need teammate suggestions.

I want to start putting together my own trading thread, is there a place I can start to work on the thread, like a forum I can plop a test thread into until I am happy with the layout and such?

Also, is there any reason to have a value under 31 in a stat that isn't used (Sp.Atk / Atk) aside from Hidden Power requirements?

Anyone know how I would try to abuse RNG for a "perfect" Zapdos in HGSS? I've only hatched shiny eggs before, but I'm not sure if the methods mentioned in the DPPt guide for catching perfect pokemon apply to HGSS at all.
Thanks for help.

Ok I hope this in the right section, I have read the rules

Here we go:

Does the shiny leaves affect your pokemon's happiness?
I want to know because I get pretty lucky with these things, (more luckier than others though) I want to make my Latios learn Draco Meteor quickly.

If it doesnt, then are there any reliable methods to raise happiness quickly?

This is for HGSS by the way

Do the birds in HGSS return once they've fainted? I think I heard some of the platinum legendaries do so, and I wanted to know if it was the case here.

Shiny leaves do not affect happiness. You are best off giving it a Soothe Bell, giving it a lot of massages and just running around with it. Also using items on it is good and battling with it.

RNG reporter has been updated for HGSS. I'd imagine Zapdos is Method K, but I'm not sure what its Monster Frame is.

Rabbit:

Instead of battling with your Pokemon to give it PKRS, instead, battle with anyone (Without bringing the Pokemon you want to spread it to into the battle). The pokemon will eventually get PKRS, regardless of participation.

I actually just flee from battle, this successfully spreads PKRS as well.

Here you go. There's a link at the very bottom to a thread containing other teams and how many streaks they have. :)
