Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

The radio does work in Lance's room, you can save inside his room right before it automatically walks you up to him.

(I'm starting to second guess myself now... If the radio doesn't work, there's always the 128 steps method. But I'm almost certain it works).

I'll test, I suppose. Guess I'll go kill Raikou (haven't released Lati yet) and start working on it. Hopefully THIS time will work.

how many roamers do you have to have for the roamer method to work? (I've only got one and am only gonna have one....)

One will work (I've used just my Latias to get Entei and just my Entei to get Lugia) though it's more risky; sometimes there are seeds that aren't too far apart with the same routes. But it is possible with just one. In fact, I don't think I've ever had any problems with the roamer appearing on the right route but for a different seed with mine...

Make sure it starts in the middle when you save. Then click the (bottom right) station, drag to the middle is one advance. Make sure it's not one of the times when Buena's Password is on, though. (You can fix this by aiming for a time near the end of the hour and waiting a few minutes for the hour to tick over if Buena's password is on).

I made sure head of time, it's the Search Party Station. Thanks for clearing that up.

Edit: ONE MORE THING. BTW, Shiny Raikou's now roaming.

If I killed off Entei and RNG'd it shiny, would it ruin the shinyness of Raikou?

To hit your seed requires two elements; you need to hit A on the continue screen at exactly the right time and date (to the nearest second), and you need to get the right delay.

Getting the right time and date is pretty easy; simply set your DS calender and clock, synchronising the clock with either a timer (such as emloop), a second clock, a watch, a stopwatch, the clock on your computer, whatever. It's then pretty simple to use this so that you press A at the right time.

The harder part is hitting your delay. The delay is a quick countdown of about 60 per second that occurs from turning the game on until you press A on the continue screen. Usually, you'll be soft resetting (hold L, R, Start and Select) to restart the game, so the delay counts from when you soft reset until you enter the game.

The best way of hitting your delay is to use a timer programme. Here's a link to emloop: http://pokem.client.jp/emloop.htm
and here's a guide for how to use it:
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1907765&postcount=7

(Though, there are slightly better ways to use it...)
Ok. Now I get it. And once you're in, you can check your seed by catching a pokemon lv 50ish, or using the elm method, or others.

So really the trick is to time it so that your delay and target time meet up exactly right?
Like, if your delay took 10 seconds persay. You could set (in the shiny egg finder) your seconds to 10, for your target time. Then turn on your DS, sync its clock with another, and set the clock to say 1 minute and 10 seconds before your target time. Turn on the DS and start the game. then wiat for the 1 extra minute to finish, and restart at that moment, button mash, and you should in theory hit your delay and target time at the same time. Sicne, to my knowledge the delay is more consistant in HGSS than in DPPt.
Also, one more tiny question about the RNG reporter shiny egg finder. Since the delay for HGSS is more consistant than DPPt and doesnt need to be calibrated, can you just leave the shiny egg finder delay range as is (600-640 i think), and check the "HGSS Delay" box thing at the bottom of the window. Or are there different steps for all this too?

P.S. thanks for all your help so far

EDIT: I've been looking around, and hitting the target time seems to be really easy. But Hitting the right delay seems like it could take forever. Counting 60 times per second. You would have to be extreemly accurate. Does it have to be exactly exact? For example, if your target delay is 602, and you hit 603, would it not work?

Also, could it be as simple as converting the target delay (lets say 600) into seconds, assuming that the delay moves 60 times per second, giving us a time of 10 seconds that we can use for setting up our target time and reset time.

Mash A more consistently. I hit my delays of 487 and 489 at least 1/4 of the time.

Your seconds should not be all over the place. Are you soft resetting at :00 seconds every time?

Also, @Spleko1: I think the delay doesn't start at the exact time you soft reset the game. It takes me 13 seconds to get from soft reset to the continue screen, and my delay isn't anywhere near 13*60 = 780. If you can get good at hitting A in a consistent pattern, you'll find yourself hitting the same numbers over and over again. Also, in my experience you always hit odd or even numbers, never both. I get 487, 489, 495, 499, etc, but never the numbers in between.

For anyone who cares, I finally got Bulbasaur!! I turns out that Bulbasaur is different from the other 2 kanto starters which are +5 frames. Bulbasaur was consistently +4 frames. I'm guessing all the other times where I missed my frame was due to me missing the NPC's movements.

So yea....Bulbasaur, frame +4.
The seed if anyone wants it, is a button mashing one. Seed 9317020F: Calm Nature, Year 2038 = Delay 489. 31/29/31/31/31/31. Perfect for catching Chansey but ONLY when they're swarming since none of the calculated encounter slots (even with a synchro) match up with Chansey's during normal conditions. Ok...now I'm ranting.....yay bulbasaur.

are you playing on a European game by any chance?

So If you can't convert the delay to seconds like that then does emploop not work?
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1907765&postcount=7 Converts your Delay into seconds. Then you later adjust for the white screen after you SR.

Hi, I'm new here and I really need help with the HG/SS RNG. I have successfully RNGed a shiny Nidoran male in Pearl, but I can't find an explanation as to how to RNG in HG/SS. Help would be greatly appreciated for either breeding or capturing legendaries.

Last night, I started my first HG/SS breeding project. I saved on the mountainside of Mt. Silver Cave, soft-resetted, caught a level 51 Golbat, and used it to check my seed. My seed was 93030205, so I selected "DPPt Egg PID (Normal)" as the method (both my parents are from US carts), and clicked "Generate." I wanted a Quiet Snover (I don't care about gender, shininess, or obviously ability), and I found a Quet spread on frame 7. I flew to Goldenrod, deposited my parents, took 6 eggs from the Daycare Man, and saved on the 7th. When I hatched it, it was Relaxed, and the first Relaxed spread on that seed is on frame 35. How did the IRNG advance, and how did it advance so far? What did I do wrong?

the eggs jump around aimlessly sometimes....

a) Did anybody call you? and

b) You said the mountainside? Like where there's hail?

When RNGing Lati, if you faint it, battle the E4 again.

1. Will it respawn?
2. If so, does anyone know the frame on it if both dogs are out (no pun intended)?

When RNGing Lati, this is probably gonna be my final time taking on the E4... hopefully.

Weather effects ruin RNGing. It's not possible to do it in an area with a weather effect. This includes pokemon like Kyogre or Tyranitar who activate one during battle.

Anyone RNGin using a Dsi XL? Well I bought mine yesterday and now I can hit even delays at any way... Like I dont have a slot 2 to remove my game.. and the scroll down and scroll up seems not to work... anyone know a way to do it?

easy... don't buy a DSi... XD

Not sure if this has been addressed or not but does anyone know how closing the DS (sleep mode) before actually starting the game affects delay/initial seed?

Since the seed is in part influenced by the time, which time does it go by, the time when you hit continue, or the time when you turn the DS on? I suppose if it was the former, then sleep mode would change your seed completely. But what about delay?

a) Yes, I got several calls, and in between collecting the 5th and 6th egg, I flew to Kanto to catch a Slugma for Flame Body (and it took me a long time to find one). I thought that nothing was proven to advance the IRNG other than collecting eggs, though?

b) No; if you enter the cave and proceed as if you were going to fight Red, it's the first outdoor area. There's no Hail there. As far as I know, it's the ONLY place to catch level 50+ non-legendary Pokémon in the game.
