Heatran can be gendered. Maybe we'll see something for it to breed with? How about a Fire/Ice Pokemon based on Icelandic volcanoes like the one that caused us so much trouble later. It could look awesome. Build like Heatran or Torterra, body made from ice, with lava and fire fountains on its back and a plume of ash and steam.
Gonna need a Stealth Rock nerf to be much good competitively mind.

I think we could see some combinations of "opposite" types, since it fits with the game names. We've had a few already, like Ground/Flying and Fighting/Psychic, but there could be more. Fire/Ice or Fire/Water are obvious. Psychic/Dark might be interesting. Normal/Ghost has regularly been called a contradiction. Grass/Steel.

Also not an opposite, but Normal/Dark would definitely fit the game names, since most Normal Pokemon are white or light in colour, while most Dark Pokemon are black or dark.

Another bat line would be cool. My favorite animals are elephants but I'm fine with them stopping at Phanpy and Donphan. Phanpy is too adorable. If they made another elephant, they'd probably kill it.

Yeah, I think the Phanphy and Swinub lines have already pretty much covered elephants/mammoths. What I'd really like to see is a kick-ass Ariados evo or another spider line. There are 40,000 species of spiders on Earth, and their only two representatives in the world of Pokemon are fat, ugly, and just generally disappointing.

These one-stage pokes are screaming for evos, and some of them look like they were only made to get an evo in the future:

Luvdisc
Delibird
Unown (not that possible, though)
Farfetch'd
Spinda
Mawile
Corsola
Sableye
Illumise
Volbeat
Pachirisu
Plusle
Minun
Sudowoodo (pre-evo added nothing)
Chatot
Dunsparce (scary)
Castform
Qwilfish
Kecleon

How about a black widow with a 100 Base Power Poison move that has a 50% chance of inflicting Toxic on the opponent. It would need a way to hurt Steels but it could be a deadly stall breaker if they're are taken out.

Ability: Corrosion
Poison moves work on Steel-types and Poison attacks hit SE on Steel-types.
Poison=/=Acid but Acid is a Poison move so it works.

As if the Poison type is broken enough already.

And acid isn't a type of poison, but it is kinda easy to see how they both relate to each other. Acid poison would be very intimidating.

Who says Gengar would get it? (or even want it, Levitate is good enough). SE on Steel isn't broken because Poison is still resisted by Ground, Poison, Ghost, and Rock, so Tyranitar would still switch in on Gengar all day.

Poison actually has some OK resistances (Ok, just Fighting. But it's better than only being immune to Ghost!), and really 1 notable weakness (Ground) that can be worked around.

Poison/Steel that's fairly fast, has that Corrosion ability, and Magnet Rise. OU maybe?

It would boil down to the stats it has to figure that out. If it's fast enough to pull off Magnet Rise without being Earthquaked by the majority of pokemon in OU, maybe. It would probably need at least 110 base Speed. Even then, it would need something to set itself apart from the rest of the crowd, as the ability to hit Steel SE with Poison isn't all that exciting.

Also not an opposite, but Normal/Dark would definitely fit the game names, since most Normal Pokemon are white or light in colour, while most Dark Pokemon are black or dark.

Normal/Dark would completely shatter Dark's Psychic immunity, as well as make a 4x fighting weakness. No Guard Machamp w/ DynamicPunch is killer already.

I always wanted a weezing evo, some people always say Choaking. I don't know about Steel/Poison but Poison/Dark or Poison/Psychic I could see.

Poison attack + EQ (It's a Steel type, most of them get EQ, and a good group of Poisons do to) + Ice attack (If it has fists, Ice Punch would do) + some other move, maybe Bulk up or Magnet rise or Recover.

That would be fairly good as I see it.

How does being Normal ruin Dark's Psychic immunity? Once you have an immunity through type, it's permanent.

A Weezing evo with a higher HP stat and a speacial attack stat >100 would be great. And staying pure poison with Levitate would be fine imo, being poison/ dark takes away it's best assets: resistances to fighting and bug, with only resistances to Psychic and Dark (mostly special attacks too) as a trade off. And now that I think of it, Poison/ Electric keeping Levitate would be one of the best defensive typings, but it doesnt make sense in the context of a Weezing evo :(

I think he meant Normal and Dark as the types for the legendaries not Normal/Dark as the typing combination they will have.

I'd still rather have a normal/ghost pokemon :E

The ultimate question:

Why is Gyarados half flying type? Why not half dragon if he learns Dragon Rage and Twister? He doesn't even have flying in his movepool. For god sakes the only flying move he can learn is Bounce. Stupid Ground Resistance argument.

EDIT: A normal/ghost is kind of iffy for the three immunities, but it could work.

It appears to be based on a sea dragon or sea serpent. Gyarados is partially based on a legend about how carp that leapt over the Dragon Gate would become dragons. Several waterfalls and cataracts in China are believed to be the location of the Dragon Gate. This legend is an allegory of the drive and efforts needed to overcome obstacles (which can be tied to the fact that Gyarados' pre-evolution, Magikarp, could possibly take a lot of drive and effort to legitimately evolve into Gyarados).

Also there are many other Pokemon with three immunities.

Gyarados would've been extremely difficult to take out in RBY (and probably now as well) because nothing could hit it SE. Gamefreak did do the same thing to Psychic in RBY, but I think they figured the Psychic types' low Def would take them out. Dragon and Water is one of the best type combinations and Gyarados is powerful enough already.

For Ghost/Normal, all they have to do is have a pure Normal cat evolve into a bakeneko and keep its Normal type the same way that Bibarel keeps its Normal type.

Ooooooor because the legend states that it is a Flying Serpent and not a Dragon. Either way, you can pick and choose.

He's based off some sort of legend that he turns into some flying thing, so that's where it's based from.

Normal/Ghost would rock. Especially if it had an ability like Levitate which gave it another immunity.
Edit: That bakaneko seems like a pretty interesting idea.

I can't wait to see some original type combinations in the next gen, as well as the rumored 4 stage evolution.
