not a lot but that is why it can be good to run one once in a while, it get a good surprise value but the only thing you are going to hit with that is blissey who you can beat with taunt+CM. still it can be nice to ko something with selfdestruct by surprise (something like a +6 kyogre?)

rock get:ice, flying, fire and bug.

ice:dragon, grass, ground and flying.

if you want to know THE type that got the most SE coverage its fighting and ground, both who hit 5 types SE.

What are some of the best options as a wall / stall Pokemon in the battle tower? Something like Cursebreon/etc. Are there any other good options for it?

Also, am I dreaming if I want to bring my lead Persian through BT with me? Flawless Technician with Fake Out, Return, U-Turn and Taunt.

Last question about the BT- is the HGSS one much different than the Platinum one?

snorlax has to be one of the best tanks and/or walls in the battle power, he can take even physical hits with the correct evs and also cause some massive damage, i would not use persian because on the battle tower coverage and power>utility most of the time, remember that BT npcs are stupid so they wont use the same moves we do. if you are going to use tech fake out then use amb instead, it get low kick for steels and more atack.

What type has the best SE coverage? Rock? Ice?

Do you mean best, or most? Lucalibur is correct that Ground and Fighting cover the most types, and these are considered to be excellent offensive types. But you may be concerned with effectiveness within the metagame. Barring the awesome move that is Earthquake, Fire is sometimes a better type just because its coverage includes many of the same important threats as Ground (e.g., Metagross, Jirachi, Lucario) while picking up others (e.g., Celebi, Skarmory, Scizor, Forretress) and not losing much in the SE department (mostly Heatran). Just look at how many things carry HP Fire vs. HP Ground.

Likewise, Ice Shard is often better than Mach Punch, despite covering fewer types, because it is 4xeffective on a number of fast threats where priority is useful, including DDMence, DDNite, and Scarf Flygon.

does it matter if you have soul silver, heart gold, diamond or pearl? like battle-wise, capturing pokemon-wise and training?

well, in HGSS breeding a little different thanks to the ev items but besides that DPP and HGSS are the same, you find different wild pokemons but battles are exactly the same and capturing pokemons too, only difference in there is that you get some different balls.

Would it be a bad idea to start a thread to name all the animals/creatures/mythological ideas that haven't been designed yet in the pokemon world? Now I know we can't possibly name all of them, but perhaps just the practical beasts. For example, Dolphins and Ant Eaters (although lickatounge has me wondering..)

has long you dont make anything wrong(words, trolling, wrong section) i think it should be fine to make a trivial thread like that. it could be useful for some small but still fun and smart discussions. i think everyone want a certain pokemon based around a animal not yet used.

I started one, and with excellent vocabulary if I may say. But It was closed :/, lol. Apparently it had no competitive value, which was true. Smogon I suppose is just full of Fun Nazis.

Just wanted to see if I'm getting the right idea of the trade threads. Everyone has one or you can't really trade, and while hacks(like pokesav) are not ok, things like action replay codes for hatching and cloning and breeding are ok? And rng abuse is pretty much the basis for all good pokemon.

yeah, you're pretty much right. Codes like fast hatch and cloning are considered legit by most users, though you should still inform them that you use the codes. And yes, RNG abuse is the standard now.

If i give a scyther metal coat and trade him to make him Scizor, will it try to learn Bullet punch? it says it learns it at level 1. That is not possible for me.

What is the smallest combination of Pokemon that can counter Spore, FEAR teams (Cleffas + Hail) and Baton Pass teams.

What is the smallest combination of Pokemon that can counter Spore, FEAR teams (Cleffas + Hail) and Baton Pass teams.

for spore, a pokemon with insomnia.
for baton pass, a pokemon with whirlwind, roar, etc.
idk about FEAR teams. I don't even know what FEAR means. or STAB.

What is the smallest combination of Pokemon that can counter Spore, FEAR teams (Cleffas + Hail) and Baton Pass teams.

I have 3 Pokemon that can potentially deal with all 3 threats by themselves. Just like to know which one is the best out of the three:

Nidoqueen (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP/96 Atk/160 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Double Kick
- Ice Punch/Aerial Ace
- Roar
- Sleep Talk

Double Kick stops FEAR users, hitting them once to 1HP then OHKO on the second hit. Roar takes care of Baton Passers. Sleep users such as Breloom, Parasect, Butterfree and Smeargle are countered by Sleep Talk which allows me give me a 1 in 3 chance to Ice Punch/Aerial Ace and to kill.

Hariyama (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 80 HP/172 Atk/252 Def/4 Spe
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
-Knock Off
-Whirlwind
-Rest (considering replacing with Ice Punch/Aerial Ace)
-Sleep Talk

Knock Off stops FEAR users, removing their Focus Sash and then OHKO. Whirlwind stops Baton Passers. Rest+Sleep Talk stops sleep users. Thinking of swapping Rest for Ice Punch/Aerial Ace.

Leafeon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252HP/20 Def/236 Spe
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
-Knock Off
-Roar
-Aerial Ace
-Sleep Talk

Knock Off stops FEAR users, removing their Focus Sash and then OHKO. Roar stops Baton passers. Sleep Talk + Aerial Ace beats Breloom and other sleep users. Considering Leaf Blade but no more slots.

So can someone tell me which one fairs the best against Sleep, Baton Pass and Lvl 1. Endeavor (FEAR) teams?

Sadly, Focus Sash saves a Pokemon from going down before Knock Off can remove it, so those strategies won't work. Knock Off can't counter FEAR.
