or if stone edge/megahorn misses.

This is why I hate RP Rhyperior as a opposed to Aggron or Torterra. It's too slow when using a + plus nature and is forced to use the Speed + nature.
Still, I agree with SJ Crew. Choice band Rhyperior is still a beast among beasts, crippling a good amount of it's counters with high power EQ's/SE's.

(Torterra and grassy friends are handled by Megahorn)

<whistle> jabba uu paragraphs aren't due today are they
<JabbaTheGriffin> no

what usually happens is we finish identifying (this ends today), and then there's about a week to write paragraphs. a few days after the paragraph submission deadline, voting threads are posted with the names of those whose paragraphs were accepted.

Also, Hypnosis is huge for something as frail as Haunter. Sucker Punch and Pursuit users have a field day with Mismagius. Haunter can just go ahead and put them to sleep or explode

To be fair, Mismagius does have Substitute. Also, Hypnosis works on one opponent with 60% accuracy. So I don't see how their situations are all that different.

It completely disables them. Also, Substitute comes at the expense of 25% HP and can be bypassed by a move such as Shadow Ball or Dark Pulse. Basically, it prevents Spiritomb from being a dead end on your sweep.

I don't know how else to convince you guys to try it. It makes now difference to me anyway. Just saying, try it before judging it. I've actually found it far more reliable than Mismagius as an offensive Ghost since I've actually pulled off sweeps with it.

i don't think you can delete pms, but you can probably just tell them you didn't know the paragraphs weren't due and send them revised versions next week. there's no need to be sneaky at all especially cause you just posted about it in a public thread lol

THANKS GUYS NOW I SEE HOUNDOOM EVERYWHERE QQ.

I still think that it's amazing about how much influence this thread holds concerning Moltres, Spikes, Houndoom and others.

They wasted one PP out of their precious 8 PP Sucker Punch. Besides, the odds of it hitting are higher than the odds of it missing. The fact it puts a pokemon out of the match should be enough to warrant it some use if moves that potentially won't do that (Fire Blast or Hydro Pump) are being used with similar accuracy.

It's kinda weird, because some things get popular but other things are just ignored.

Anyone else noticing a decrease in Torterra's? Is it safe for me to use again?

I made a team based around a dual Moltres strategy with Moltres/Charizard running the same set. It works decently, but it's nothing amazing. Plus, all of my pokes have to play specific roles, and there's no dedicated anti-Raikou, which means it pretty much rolls over the team.

Charizard can definitely be a replacement Moltres, though. Modest Charizard has 1 satk and 7 speed less than Timid Moltres, and the only thing that Moltres outspeeds and Charizard doesn't is neutral Hitmonlee. Oh, and Charizard can't pull off a roost stall very well.

Since I've posted it, it might be a good idea to break out the Chanseys.

I know ppl have already discussed about how grass types are extremely powerful in UU so I have been rolling around with a troll mono-Hyper Offensive Grass team hahaha...Pretty much it has been sooo much fun to use and if you survived a Torterra Sweep now get ready for a Leafeon+ Sceptile sweep lol pretty much takes a dump on all stall and balanced based teams

My scarf Typhlosion would like a word with you.

Meh, Scarf Typhlosion is still pretty bad. You kick HIS ass, but you lose out to pretty much all of the metagame. Being forced to switch out sucks. (especially with a stealth rock weak)

I've used a mono-electric team, and it's just so freaking awesome. It's bad, (lol dugtrio) but very fun to use.

I haven't seen many so knock yourself out.

Really? I still like my Ambipom leads. They're super useful for stopping Froslass and other shenanigans, and the threat of a Fake Out leads to a lot of switches. I'm personally using a special set on one of my teams, and after a Nasty Plot, which is super-easy to get, you can actually sweep to a degree.

I'm not saying that Haunter is worse than Mismagius is (because I acknowledge that I haven't used it) but I did account for bypassing the move. My mistake was in not accounting for relative speeds, I guess.

What happened to Ambipom? I havent seen even one this period.

It's not stacking up to the top leads.

The top 15 leads as of January are:

478.png

Froslass
. Taunt + Pursuit. Perfect win
480.png

Uxie. You do nothing with Fake out, but taunt stops it cold.

424.png

Ambipom
. Pure luck
146.png

Moltres. Another good win.
65.png

Alakazam Inner focus + counter means you lose here.

101.png

Electrode It can take a Fake out, and you can't stop it from Rain Dancing. Lose.

139.png

Omastar. Fake out does trash damage, and you take heaps of damage from surf. You lose here.

449.png

Hippopotas. Fake out + Taunt owns it pretty hard. Easy win.

464.png

Rhyperior. You lose here, even if you want to be a troll and use low kick.
91.png

Cloyster
. Takes nothing from Fake out but taunt shuts it down. To bad it can hurt you with it's moves of choice.

59.png

Arcanine. Another pokemon you lose to. Intimidate + Morning sun, while it has extremespeed and or Flare blitz.

3.png

Venusaur. It can take a fake out and KO with Leaf storm

297.png

Hariyama. Fake out doesn't do much, while he easily OHKO's you with CC on the next turn.

141.png

Kabutops. Again, you lose here simply because it takes little from your moves, while you can opt for the trolly low kick, Water fall + Aqua Jet is a 2HKO.

459.png

Snover.
Taunt shuts it down. It can hurt you with Blizzard/Wood Hammer so be careful.

It's also interesting to note that Alakazam does equally or just plain better than Ambipom in almost any situation. (more people should use it)

Ambipom needs to reinvent itself.

Whether or not Ambipom is a popular lead he makes a huge impact on what can or cannot be used.

Anyways, I don't understand the hype about 'we posted Pokemon X here and people are trying it... we are trend-setters'. The ladder is going to be reset soon so people are trying out new things in order to test the water for the 'future meta' (Less Raikou's and Froslass used currently).

Yeah, Grass types are such a pain for my team to face i'm considering a Rest-Talk Entei on my stall team.
