I will be going to this one too since there is no qualifier in Philly this year. I will probably have harder to beat competition than last time since a lot of Smogon people like Evan and Pokeric will be going. I just hope that I can prove that winning last year wasn't a fluke or anything.

To be fair you would have won anyway. Aboma's ice shard woulda beat that sliver of HP Zappy had.

Well if I hadn't of froze him he would have used Heat Wave so actually i did get lucky. Also my Abomasnow had a Choice Scarf on it so I couldn't have used a priority move.
 
The thing I enjoy about our Regional being last is I get a feel for what people are using this year before the event happens so I can be prepared.
 
Since, its first come first serve what time do you guys plan to be there? I was thinking maybe 12, an hour before the registration, but would coming early even matter?

I'm getting there probably about 9-10. Since I'll be driving with some friends, we're going to be playing Pokemon while we wait anyway. Preparing and whatnot.
 
I'm considering going to this, just because I live like ten minutes away. lol

EDIT: Unless it's nice out and I decide to go to Six Flags =P
 
I'm definitely going there. Being in New York is really convenient. It's my first VGC, and I'm somewhat nervous, but I hope to run into many Smogonites here, a lot of whom I'm familiar with.

EDIT: I'm getting up at like 7:00 in the morning and then get to Newark via car. My friends will come as well but in their own time. I already feel the tension in the air lol. My bad on the "Smogoneers" term
 
Oh man... the more smogoners i see comment saying that they're coming to Newark makes me more nervous that i won't get through even the first round xD

With all the hundreds of players going, I think you should be fine for at least... three rounds hahaha.

Uggghh that sucks. I'm coming via car as well. Do you know of any off-site parking that is somewhat near that can be accessible? I'll be there early (9-10 in the morning) so I think it will be okay at best.

I'm really hoping that I'm the luckiest person there and gets nooblets to beat up against until I hit a later round.

Got a few ideas for my team, but nothing's set in stone until we see results from the previous tournaments.

They will likely be similar to the Japan tournaments. Those were really good and I think the strategy state-side will be a bit different, but overall the same.
