The pictures of the battle scenes look absolutely awful!

If you look here: http://serebii.net/blackwhite/pics.shtml
The pictures labeled "Zorua vs Zoroark" (under the 5/13 date) show not only ugly platforms that the Pokemon are standing on, but the sprites themselves look pixely, and horribly shaded. I'm praying that this is shot is prototypical and that there will be more development.

Also, there seems to be two different battle scenes; one with the 3-d settings where the entire Pokemon are both visible, and one with the standard setting we have come to know. Why are there two settings, and do we know what circumstances under which they are used?
Did you see how crappy the DP beta images were? They looked like fanmade sprites.

Give em time, they're probably still inventing new pokemon.

Actually (and we obviously can't confirm this I guess) someone earlier in this huge thread said that they've had pokemon set for years. I'm assuming that the user means that they have a huge array of pokemon already ready? Not sure, but an interesting concept.

The battle scenes are different, good find. But that 3D one is not doing it for me...it looks awkward or something.

I am also curious how Skitty - Wailord is so infamous while Wailord - Diglett isn't given a second thought.
Because a male Diglett is about the right size for a female Wailord, so it's entirely workable there.

Narwhals are one of my favorite animals, but they are in a similar boat to dolphins: It's not easy to base a Pokemon of a Narwhal w/o it looking just like a regular Narwhal.....
Colossoil says hi.

I think that at least one of the starter evos should be a new dual type, like Grass/Dragon or Fire/Electric. Also that Stealth Rock should become not type-dependent, as it really punishes Fire and Ice types.

So, has anyone else noticed that in this page, Raikou's sprite changes between the two shots? The first screenshot is probably saying "What will Raikou do?" so it's not its second entry sprite, while I'm guessing the second screenshot is saying "Wild Zoruark's Illusion broke!" or something like that, so again, not its second entry sprite

Maybe there's going to be some minor animation with the attack.

Or maybe it's simply that one is the Black sprite and the other the White.

I have to admit, I was not fond of any of the starters at first. I thought any five year old could come up with said drawings. Now that I have taken a closer look, I am starting to like them. I have specially developed an affinity towards the water starter. Looks like I will continue picking the water starter as always.

Also, fan art of Mijimaru is indeed be very cute!

Just take a look:

It's looking more and more like an otter..
Mijumaru-163879638

The reason Mijumaru is starting to look more like an otter is that these fan artists are drawing it better. Hate to sound like a jerk, but it's true. They've put the nose where it should be (beneath the eyes, not smack in the middle of them), they've made the ears larger and pointier, and they've made slight changes to the shape of its face, collar, hands, and feet. That isn't the way it's going to look in-game...just look at the screenshots of it battling the other starters.

Mijumaru just bugs me, because it would be such a good looking Pokemon if not for one or two really weird design choices. I'm not going to throw a fit about it, I'm just disappointed. Hopefully, it will evolve into something better.

What really makes me scratch my head is when people say that they're "choosing the Grass starter" or "choosing the Fire starter". Seriously, am I the only one who's going to link up with a friend and trade in order to get all three of them? I guess there's some nostalgic charm to be had in playing the game through with only one starter, but trading has just become so easy on the DS that I can't resist the urge to pick up all three.

New Pokemon for the Sixth Generation, maybe. But Gamefreak is not going to be adding any Pokemon to Black and White at this stage. They simply wouldn't have time...come on, the game is scheduled to drop in Japan early this Fall! It's probably been finished for weeks by now, if not months. This stage of the process is something called marketing. It sucks, but it's the way the world works. Nintendo has to focus now on getting the hype machine running and advertising their product. They don't have the resources to be changing their product at the same time.

taste for pokemons is personal preference, but its obvious here that the water starter is fucking ugly, the grass one is probably trecko cousin or some shit, they both got that cool aura about then.

Well fuck, I just went to the B/W site and realized I want to start with all three of them.

Even with the horrid otter.

Curse you, Game Freak.

Have you also noticed that the colour of the HP bar is different in the two pictures? One's green and the other one's grey/white...???

I doubt they'll make any new Pokemon for BW, but they are highly likely to refine and tweak their chosen designs. Also they doubtless have many more Pokemon concepts than will make the final games, so they may not even have finalised the Gen 5 list yet.

that pretty much prove Zaruga special defense is average, the pokemons got no evs and/or items, for aura sphere to ohko Zaruga...i guess his special defense is 65-75 to tell the true, though i dont know for sure

P.S:i dont like the name zoroark, so i am calling him Zaruga once in a while.

Wheres our elephant pokemon? It has 2 evolutions - first one is pure normal, gets moves like vine whip and an exclusive move, trunk slap, flying, physical, base 100 power, 100% accuracy. Then he evolves into normal flying with magic gaurd.
Oh look, i found a sprite!

phanpy and donphan aren't elephants now?

There is precedent for this—the very first episode of the cartoon had Ash see Ho-Oh before he even got his first pokemon. It's safe to say that Nintendo is almost always thinking well into the future with regard to stuff like this.

There's no way. They might have ideas and stuff but there's no way they'd keep introducing pre-evos into the newer Pokédexes if they'd already came up with them years ago. Especially not the retarded dual egg things.

Also in one of the early episodes of the anime wasn't there a plaque on a wall in the Pokémon Centre of Ho-Oh standing next to Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos as almost a legendary quadruple of birds? They didn't really think that through at all as Ho-Oh later had nothing to do with those birds.

Then the whole Arcanine/Entei thing.

Yeah, if I remember it was the 3 legendary birds with Ho-Oh (as if they had some connection), Ash saw it and said, "That's the Pokémon I saw," then Nurse Joy said that's impossible whatever whatever..

But then who knows how closely the anime works with the games.

^If you are referring to the images behind Nurse Joy at the pokemon center, I'm pretty sure those were depictions of the legendary birds (Articuno, etc). I could be wrong though.

And serebii is reporting that Zoroark enters battle with an entirely different appearance, name change included. This could be an interesting way to lure certain attacks, despite the fact that its type remains Dark.

It would be an awesome way to bait the enemy into using an ineffective Psychic attack...you know, if anyone actually used Psychic. Nah, Psychics and Ghosts are going to tread much more carefully. Plus, as several posters before have pointed out, if Zoroark's illusion is completely random, it probably won't be any help at all when it picks things like Bidoof to copy.

phanpy and donphan aren't elephants now?

I always thought of them as anteaters. They don't have big ears, they aren't huge (how is phanpy elephant size?) and they don't fly or have a name that is a cheap ripoff of Dumbo, like...jumbo. Or jimbo.

What do others think of my hidden power idea. Mayby they could give some kind of message after you win a battle, like...empoleon seems to be stronger after fighting that machoke, or infernape seems to have gotten faster after fighting that ninjask! something ike that, make the soft mechanics less...soft

I'd have to dig around to find the source, but I remember reading sometime during Gen 3 that Tajiri/Sugimori had something like 1000 ideas for Pokémon. If true, I'd imagine what they do is go to that pool first for every new game, and then come up with new ones as well.
