That'd be incredibly complicated...an entirely different (and like twice as big) set of rules that we have to keep in mind...

I don't think they would do that because it would be too complicated for the kids to understand (I didn't know all of the type effectivenesses until I joined smogon xD)

This is true.
GF creates game mechanics that would be easy for a 10 year old to understand, but enjoyable and complex enough for a late teen to be able to play also

I personally think triple types would overcomplicate things. There are already 153 type combinations available (single and double) - by my calculations.

I'd definitely LOVE to see some new type combinations though.
A lot of people have been hoping for a Fire/Electric type combo.
Personally, I think a Manectric evo would suit these types to a T.

Why in heavens are you people saying we need a new type because the current type chart is unbalanced if we could merely CHANGE the type chart? Y'know, without adding any new crazy types?

Some awesome DOUBLE type combinations I want to see:
Fly/Fight
Normal/Ghost
Fire/Water
Fire/Grass
Electric/Ground
Ghost/Steel
Bug/Ground (Nincada and Wormadam don't count)
Ground/Fight
Fight/Ghost

Fire/Electric is awesome, but is completely wrecked by ground types and SR.

Also, triple types suck, btw.

Triple types would overcomplicate everything that GF has built. Don't expect it to come along and re-make everything. However, a new type could be a possibility in the future (although I highly doubt it'll come in Gen 5 or 6). New type combos are going to be givens. Expect GF to make a bunch of type combos we haven't seen yet, and keep a few in their pocket so they can release it in Gen 6. Plus we'll be seeing a lot of common things, like a Ground/Water return or a Rock/Steel and even possibly another Dark/Ghost.

Fire/Water
Fire/Grass
These haven't been done yet b/c it is very hard to implement on an animal/creature. Water douses Fire and Fire burns grass, so it really isn't easy to make one....They naturally oppose each other.....I do realize CAP has Fire/Grass.

Aside from how much more difficult it would be to account for Pokemon weaknesses, Imagine how crappy some pokemon could be with the three-type system.

Flying/Fire/Ice- Triple Rock, Water, Electric, Steel, and probably some other ones that I'm missing.

Bug/Flying/Ground- Double Ice, Double Ground, Water, Fire, Rock, Flying.

Ice/Grass/Bug- Double Rock, Triple Fire, Poison, Bug, Flying.

Rock/Ground/Steel (knowing Gamefreak they would do this.)-Double Fighting, Double Ground, Double Water, Grass,

Fire-Water could be no more or less than something as simple as boiling water. you just need to find an animal or inanimate object that can utilize that typing.

Dragons are meant to be overpowered, because, well, they're freakin' dragons!
From a thematic point of view, that is indeed the case. But then in 1st Gen, Psychics were MEANT to be overpowered, because, wll, they're freakin' psychic!

Why in heavens are you people saying we need a new type because the current type chart is unbalanced if we could merely CHANGE the type chart? Y'know, without adding any new crazy types?
I find this idea less appealing. They did it before, of course. But the change the type chart is to imply that previously it was wrong, at least that's how I see it. Whereas adding a new type is just like it's something new that's been discovered.

Fire/Water combine to make steam, so something based on steam would work. The aforementioned train Pokemon could reasonably, if unusually, be Fire/Water.
Or you could have something based on a flamin oil slick. I can't see it looking anything but similar to Muk, so maybe it could be a Muk evo or an alternate Grimer evo.

Yeah like a kettle or sumfin.

Still hoping for ghost steel train poke
Ya, but a Kettle is a kind of odd idea.....lol, It just sounds weird when I imagine someone switching in a demonic Kettle/Teapot monster against Zoroark.....

My only problems here is that if they do an oil slick, it will probably be Poison/Fire, seeing oil is poisonous to animals/poisons water, and a Train Pokemon will probably be Fire/Steel..... The train just sounds funny to me, similar to the kettle, don't take that the wrong way....

A boiling pot of water...
Similar to Bronzong, hm?

Yeah like a kettle or something similar.

Still hoping for ghost steel or ghost fire

EDIT: oops I thoguh first post didn't load

I can see it now

Boilergeist used scald!
Zoroark fainted

It has the ability lukewarm: at 50% health defense are boosted one
stage

I'm hoping fora Ghost/Steel as well.
A teakettle Pokemon... I BET they'll come up with this in gen. 5

EDIT: Wouldn't this be amazing? I know it's fake, but wow. Really creative idea
It's a ghost whale

lol, I guess it's possible, but as I said, it will be funny seeing it. Bronzong was ritualistic and was ancient, mysterious, etc......Then this little tea kettle comes in. It will be funny to look at considering there is no real second meaning/mystery behind it.

When were the Base Stats discovered for the Generation 4 Pokemon?

Yeah, but Dragon Warrior Monsters pulled it off just fine. The first real boss of the second game is a big demonic lamp (the genie kind, sans genie), and you're probably fighting it with a beaver, a slime, and a caterpillar. Besides, we already have a giant ghostly lawnmower, so...what the hell, right?

I can't see it happening.

I should have thought of this before - a geyser would make a good Fire/Water. We've had Camerupt, based on a volcano, so what not a Pokemon with a geyser on its back?

What else would I geyser pokemon be based on? Camerupt is also rather like a camel (hence the name). As such, I think a geyser pokemon would be based also on an animal. What animal could look like a geyser if you just changed a few things about it?

Fire/Water could also be a squid with a Volcano on its head, a whale with a volcano instead of a blowhole, a muk-like thing made out of lava, a tea kettle, or an oil slick

Fire/Grass could be a sunflower (awesome Sunflora evo?)

Also, a sweet Fire/Ghost could be a candle.

Does anyone else feel that we need a barnacle pokemon and a kelp pokemon, too. If we have these, then we need to be able to dive, though.
