What are the differences between Pocket Monsters Black and Pocket Monsters White?
Other than how to meet the legendary Pokemon Reshiram and Zekrom, things like encountered Pokemon and Pokemon encounter rates differ between the two versions! You can enjoy trading Pokemon that only appear in one version by using the local wireless and Wi-Fi connections with your family, friends, and players from all over the country! There is another big version difference as well, which we will reveal later! We'll keep showing you detailed information on the Pokemon Daisuki Club website! Don't miss it!!
An E-Mail posted on PokeBeach. And:

Legendary mascots of Pokemon Black and White: they are to be named Reshiram (レシラム) and Zekrom (ゼクロム) for both the English and Japanese games. Reshiram's name comes from "shiro," which means "white" in Japanese, whereas Zekrom's comes from "kuro," which means "black." Contrary to their color schemes, Reshiram is Pokemon Black's mascot while Zekrom is White's, as you can see on the official Nintendo DS box art below. According to the Japanese website, "Reshiram, with a pure-white body, will be in Pocket Monsters Black, while Zekrom, with a lacquer-black body, will appear in Pocket Monsters White.

What really makes me curious:

Larger versions of Black and White's box art have been released, revealing that both games will have enhanced features for the Nintendo DSi (click the thumbnail below for a larger image).

Just because we don't need a light type doesn't mean they won't make one. Gamefreak makes its billions by keeping children happy and barely acknowledges the competitive aspects of their game. They need to keep their franchise fresh and they know it. Yes, dragon needed a resist and mewtwo needed a counter, but there are already light pokemon and light moves; the idea that the gazillion-dollar franchise will never add new types because the competitive community deems it uneccessary is just ridiculous.

Indeed, a "good" type sounds sucky.
I think the french or german( i dont realy remmember0 translation of the Dark type nails it the best: Nocturnal Pokemons.

So no Light type please, the type chart is already imbalanced as it is, we realy dont need more types.

Also if makeing 8 year olds happy by adding new types would have worked they would have added a new type each generation.

Lets face it: Dark and Steel were only added to balance Psychic and Dragon, not for the sake of adding new types.

Maybe they should just make the poison type good so people will use it. It'd be like a new type in itself since no one uses it now.

Adding a new type is only relevant to the competitive community. I haven't heard any 7-year-olds complaining "Dragon is too overpowered and Poison too weak! We need a Light type to even things out!"

They just need a Poison Pokemon w/ stats through the roof. Poison is better defensively, having only one real weakness (Psychic is less of a weakness considering nothing packs those attacks besides Azelf, although rarely, and Mewtwo for STAB). Weezing would probably be OU if it wasn't for lack of reliable recovery.

Like I said, gamefreak cares little about competitive pokemon. A new type or two would be fun and interesting, and would have eight year olds everywhere willing to commit murder to be the first kid on the block with a new type.

Also, light doesn't equal 'good'. It just means light. Think about how espeon and umbreon evolve.

What would piss off everyone is if they DO make a new type - but it doesn't actually help resolve any of the gripes about the current type chart. Something like:

Offense: 2x poison, grass, psychic, bug. 0.5x dragon, steel, water
Defense: 0x poison, 0.5x psychic, dark, grass, bug, 2x dragon, steel, fighting, ground

Give it no physical attack better than 80 base power and then give it one Uber member, one line that's physically biased, and one line that has lousy stats and Sturdy. And don't forget the pseudo-legendary Light/Dragon that doesn't get fire, ground, or fighting attacks and has physically defensive stats.

That's why I say they would be better "balancing" the current type chart and messing with new gimmicks for the kids in other aspects of the game (read: Pokéthlon).

I wonder what the differences will be between the versions, the "special" differences they mention. Also the fact that it's DSi enchanced, does that mean some kind of camera functionality?

Could be. Maybe a picture of yourself for the Trainer Card.
It would also mean that Black and White would have access to the DSi's enhanced connectivity options.

Well, perhaps. The DSi has other differences as well; I hear it has more processing power than its predecessors, it has an SD card slot, etc.

ALSO: PhredLevi made me imagine taking a picture of yourself and it being used for that "VS" graphic that comes up before you fight a gym leader or Elite Four member in PtHGSS. Which is great, because my DSi mostly has pictures of me eating things like the Double Down from KFC and a sandwich comprised of a McChicken inside of a McDouble. (It's for journalism's sake.)

Nah, with Nintendo's stance on keeping people safe online I highly doubt it will be profile pictures or anything.

Maybe they'll use that pseudo 3D feature like in that DSi ware game, where it tracks your head using the camera, and you can "look around" the room on the DS.

You wouldn't happen to work for Cracked.com would you? I seem to recall an article specifically about the Double Down and the McChicken/McDouble combo...

To be honest, the legendaries don't look all that well for 5th gen. They almost look like Digimon(nothing against digimon).

I am anticipating some dual types as well as everyone else. Although, I don't really want them to be part Dragon type. I want more of a variation between legends.

Yeah, I was just gonna say.... it'd be cool if they WERE Dragon-type but it'd be nice to have some variety among the Ubers. :0 If not Dragon, I wonder what other types they could be? Could be anything, really (look at Palkia-- pretty sure no one expected Water as one of his types).

I find it funny that there were people back then complaining about the excessive amount of Psychic legendaries we had... Now it's with the Dragon typing. Oh well, if only we knew shit would get so bad...

And yes, Palkia has the Water typing out of nowhere (besides having pearls on its shoulders). I'd risk saying Reshiram may be part-Flying, and Zekrom... part-Fighting.

No matter what has been said so far , I never and will never believe/understand how the fuck did Palkia end up being a water type.

As for types and all , how about uhh....Crystal type...?[Yeah I stole it from Naruto so shut the fuck up]

But we do have ice too....

They were confirmed as dragons dude. Look at Serebii or Pokébeach.
