Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

can someone quickly confirm for me, what is Giratina's monster frame for the Sinjoh Ruins in HGSS? As in do I stop one frame before my target frame, then step into the circle? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: never mind, I got it. Check it out in Rate My Pokemon! :P

Not a question, just an interesting observation I made... I used the RNG Reporter to find a shiny egg for me, a jolly male. I hit the seed, verified it, and hatched it, but it wasn't shiny. I just realized that I forgot to update the OT ID, but I had updated the SID. Interestingly, though, the hatched pokemon was still a jolly male.

Alrighty, I'm trying to help my friend Egg IV RNG on HGSS but it's difficult as I can't actually see what he's doing. He's trying to hit frame 14 on Seed AC1601FC. So he said he hit his seed, verifying via Elm calls which match up... so he calls 13 times and grabs the egg, which is correct, right? Since the egg is Frame 1... But his IVs are way off and don't show up at all in the IVs in that seed.

The only explanation is that he didn't hit the seed, even though the calls matched up... Could there be any other explanation? Roamers are gone, btw.

EDIT: Parent B was holding a Power Item. Has it been tested as to the effects of Power Items on the RNG?
I haven't actually RNG'd for IVs, but I have RNG'd for shiny eggs. There are actually two RNGs, one is the regular RNG and the other is the IRNG, which is for eggs (I think the I stands for Incubating). The IRNG is not advanced by Elm calls, but it is advanced by taking an egg (or rejecting it) or it can be advanced by 2 by calling Joey when he isn't seeking a rematch.

So, for your seed, call Elm to verify the seed, then call Joey 6 times (make sure he isn't seeking a rematch) to advance to frame 12. Deposit your pokemon to the Daycare then get an egg and reject it, advancing it to frame 13. Now generate one more egg and accept it - your target frame 14 should be this egg.

I think that works if you use no SID and no OT so you can target a nature and ability without the shininess. Someone found a shortcut to this without having to hit the exact seed. KuyaJBoy told me that you can try to hit your seed, but if you hit an adjacent, you plug in the seed of the adjacent in the first window of RNG Reporter and generate the egg possibilities and, hoping your target nature and ability aren't too far down the frames, you advance frames to get the egg on the adjacent spread instead of the target.

So I was RNG abusing for IV's, and when I checked my delay from finding a seed after hatching the egg, my delay changed drastically(by about 10). Does anyone know what could have caused this?

EDIT: Sorry, to be more specific, my delay before was around 597 and when I checked, it was around 587.
My delays can vary by 10 as well. Sometimes I consistently hit 588, other times I hit anywhere from 582 to 592. Just check your delay and if it keeps hitting 587, find a new seed with the new delay. If it fluctuates, just keep trying and eventually you will hit the right delay.

Wow, that's great to know. Don't have to go through all the work if I'm not looking for a shiny. Thanks. Also, thanks for the guides you posted in your thread on RNGing shiny eggs, that's how I learned to RNG :)

Well, in Platinum it was pretty easy to do, and you didn't even need to try and hit a specific seed. Now that we know of a way to advance the egg pid on HG/SS too, calling Joey, it might be easy to achieve there too.

You're welcome, lukester. Btw, I've had seeds in which the delays swung plus and minus 50 or more in either direction. I had no choice but to choose a different seed whenever this happened.

black.arwing, dump the power item. You don't need it for RNG. When doing RNG, all the IVs are chosen by the gamer, not by the power item, so the item is only making your friend's RNG results random.

Alright, I'm looking for someone to teach me how to RNG standing legends. I've read everything I can find, watched bearfan's videos, but there still aren't set instructions, as far as I can see. This is my spread:

730004c2
22 4167fe3a
BOLD Ability 0
31 31 31 30 31 31 ELECTRIC 70

And my time and stuff.

June 2, 2010 0:53:50
Delay 1208
Frame 22

I've saved in front of Suicune (battling at Burned Tower so no NPC troubles) and from here I have no idea what to do. I can use PikaTimer but I'm kinda hesitant on trying Emloop or whatever because it's in Japanese ... I'm also on a DSi if that matters.

What am I supposed to do from here?

New page, I'm still clueless.

Well, since it's frame 22, it should be fairly easy. I haven't written up my guides for catching standing legendaries yet, but read the bits about hitting your seed and getting egg IVs. Some of the steps are the same (the use of Roamers to know if you landed on an adjacent, the Elm calls, etc.) Pay attention to the advice of Pehu that I copied there. This is how you can tell where you are when you start your Elm calls. Stop exactly one frame before your target. Do not make the call that goes with your target frame. Stop one before and talk to the legendary.

I believe you need method K in RNG Reporter, but double check that. The info is somewhere in the first few posts of this help thread.

Go read the guides. I know they are for breeding, however all the steps for setting up your DS clock and hitting a seed and adjusting Pikatimer are the same. If you aren't sure what your usual delay is, try inputting 480 on Pikatimer.

I seem to be hitting 00:53:47 a lot when I should be hitting 00:53:50. Is this three second difference due to me starting the game from the main DSi screen rather than soft resetting? Should I soft reset instead?

You can't soft reset because you must change the DS clock every time. It's just a matter of adjusting your timing until you get the right seconds. You're using Pikatimer, right? So you need to adjust the second timer based on where you landed in the game. If you landed on an adjacent with a delay that is lower, you put in the other delay and hit update. Then you reset the DS clock and try again. Did you read my guide on Pikatimer?

So if I land on 00:50:47 then I add 3 seconds to the second timer in PikaTimer? (Yes, I read your guide, it helped a lot.) What do you mean by an adjacent?

Right click on your seed in Time Finder if you got it there and choose generate more results. If you have the seed in the main window, go to Seeds to time and input all necessary info to generate results. Go read my guides for info on adjacents. It's basically the same info, but you have to apply it to catching the legendary with the right IVs instead of an egg with the right IVs.

And no, you don't have that correct on Pikatimer. You change the second timer using the adjacent delay, so long as that delay showed up in the right seconds.

Chamommy, that was raichu... not me x]

Well I just mentioned that because I was watching Bearfan's video and it showed him putting in the IVs in seed finder, and I didn't know if I'm either looking for the lowest frame or that exact same seed.

I'm not familiar with JavaRNG, but doesn't it tell you the frame?

Having located a seed, you now use Seed to Time to find out what time and delay you must hit in the game to be able to get that spread. Once you successfully hit that seed, then you advance to the frame that JavaRNG presumably gave you.

Well so far I've succesfully adquired several shinny pokés and a couple of Perfect IV'd ones. Thansk to Chamommy's guides XP...

So now I'm wondering, how can I get especific Ability, Nature, Gender, etc (like the shiny Pokés, but without the shininess)?...
