Damn straight. That crocodile better turn into a beast.
I think we need another shark Pokemon that isn't crap. For one of the most dangerous and fearsome animals in our world, Pokemon has only one of them and its butt was cut off.
Highly doubt it would be pushing infernape to uu no matter how good it turns out to beDamn, now the ugliest fire type since Heatran happens to have an interesting ability that gets my attention... Oh well at least I hope it gets decent attacking stats and speed so that the ability doesn't go to waste, though I still hope it doesn't end up being another Fire/Fighting type just to push Blaziken to NU and Ape to UU ^^.
Recoil tends to be defined as a secondary effect, so much so that moves with recoil mention it in their descriptions.Well, I think recoil would still happen, I don't feel that that's a "secondary effect" and it's still technically also "causing damage" from the attack. But who knows. That's getting really technical, so we probably won't know EXACTLY how it works until the game comes out...!
It also means that if it turns out to be a defensive pokemon, it's essentially useless (no healing moves, no toxic, no spikes, etc.). Here's hoping GF decides to make it an offensive powerhouse.
I'm sorry... These don't even look like pokemon anymore. Even the 4th gen pokes look orginal.... This doesn't seem like a pokemon game IMO.

Agree. My theory on if something doesn't look like a Pokemon: If it's a Pokemon then it looks like a Pokemon because it looks like itself, which is a Pokemon. What exactly do Pokemon look like? I think anything that is designed is a Pokemon really, you can't say these things don't look like Pokemon since there is no definition of what a Pokemon should look like. As long as they look like monsters with ridiculous abilities (like generating electricity out of nowhere and raping other monsters with it) then it's a Pokemon to me.
Wow, you guys are making a lot of crazy assumptions about this Encourage ability. I will tell you right now that recoil is not considered a secondary effect. Overheat and Close Combat's reductions in stats are also not secondary effects.
Burn, freeze, confusion, flinch, poison, etc. are secondary effects if they happen on a damaging move. Poison from the move Toxic is not considered a secondary effect.
As far as the power boost, I expect either a straight-up 20% boost or a boost relative to how likely the secondary effect occurs.

Yeah, I think it includes literally everything that isn't damage. So, for example, Close Combat would not have a reduction in defenses when used, nor would Double-Edge or Flare Blitz have recoil.
I think it comes down to what the move itself outlines as secondary. If the move itself is defined as having a stat reduction or a status inflictor, then those would be negated.
I personally think that encourage will be too broken to use. Image a dragon with encourage it would be a wrecking ball.

Hihidaruma's ability; Encourage, boosts the power of all its attacking moves, but kills any secondary effect that they have.
