How do I set it up for local battles for 6v6 level 100 or level 50 in HeartGold/SoulSilver.
It's upstairs I'd assume...left or right door? what rules do I set up?
Right door; set "flat battle" for lv. 50, and just "single battle" for no level restrictions (there isn't a local auto-level to level 100). You'll generally want to choose "no restrictions" on the remaining screens; clauses are best enforced by the player, because Game Freak's idea of clauses is often strange, and bring in baggage (e.g. "GS Cup" is doubles 4v4 with item clause, and used for the VGC). The left door is not very useful for competitive battling (you can fight via it, but it puts a whole load of stupid restrictions on), but is the door you want to use for trades.

How does one abuse this "RNG?" I know that it stands for Random Number Generator, but I've heard of people changing the years to something like 2062. Any insight?
The random number generator uses the DS's date, your player ID and secret ID, and the amount of time it takes from the game to start up to the time the player tells the game to load the save slot. These four numbers are used to select a starting variable to produce any variable events. After the variable is used, it moves on to the next number in a sequence that might appear random, but is in fact extremely predictable if you know the pattern.

People use a program to determine when the series hits a number that produces a favorable event, like encountering a flawless Ditto in the wild, or hatching shiny pokemon. For more information, please go to smogon's home page and type in RNG in the search bar.

There is also a thread somewhere on these forums with the most current revelations on how the RNG works (I think it's in the wi-fi forum).

Ok thanks.

Also, Is there any easier way to learn moves from Battle Frontier? I had to use my Earthquake TM on my Dragonite and the only way to get another TM of it is through 80 BP in Battle Frontier (Which is a bit too much of an ordeal...)
Is your Dragonite a male? You could breed him to get offspring that are born knowing Earthquake.

Another question, this isn't talked about much due to the evasion clause.

http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/stats

Lets say I use double team 6 times, making my evasion " (Move Accuracy) * 3/9 (0.3333)". Is this a set cap or will using BRIGHT POWDER (10% more evasion) raise my evasion even higher (and if so to what)?

Ignore accuracy please, I just want to see if evasion can get any higher. So lets assume no moves are used to reduce accuracy and they have 100 accuracy.

Orre Region in Gen 4?

SHORT VERSION OF QUESTION:
Will a Pokémon snagged from the Orre Region state that it was caught in the Orre Region when sent to any GenFour game?

LONGER VERSION OF QUESTION:
That is to say... I've noticed that when I trade a Pokémon between GenThree games, it's "location caught" data simply says "Met in a trade", and NOT where it was traded from, where it was caught in the original game, etc.

To which, if I catch a Pokémon in Colesseum/XD, then transfer it to any of my GenThree games--say, LeafGreen--then PalPark it to any of my GenFour game... will that Pokémon's location data state "Orre," because that's where it was first caught, or "Kanto," because that the GenThree game that it was PalPark'd from?

Thanks for your help answering this question!

ManWithaPlan:

The item Brightpowder decreases the accuracy of certain attacks used by the opponent by 10%. It doesn't actually raise "evasion", though, so Brightpowder still works even if the Pokemon's evasiveness stat stage is at its maximum level (due to Double Team and the like). (In fact, I use the term "evasiveness", also known as "evasion", to refer only to the evasiveness stat stage, and not to other effects that affect accuracy of attacks, such as Brightpowder, fog, Gravity, and so on.)

In the generation 3 games, the text "Obtained in a trade" will appear if the 32-bit ID number and OT name of the Pokemon don't match those of the player, regardless of where the Pokemon came from. However, when that Pokemon is migrated, generation 4 games will say that the Pokemon came from a "distant land", rather than "Orre".

I do know that Pokémon data stores locations as some arbetrary number--"Orre" may be location number 322 or something... is that number saved throughout the life of the Pokémon, as in, regardless of where it goes to or is traded to and from, that number survives... or is that number replaced and changed as soon as it's transfered in a non-trade manner?

I guess I'm thus wondering if, say in Gen 5, the potential that a Pokémon's Orre heritage would be kept, rather than it being listed as "from a distant land". Or heck, even if it was listed as coming from "a distant land", the game still--technically--know that it came from Orre (or whatever number the game sees it as).

YOu're forgetting, the Celebi Glitch in R/S. That Celebi can be in any ball, as it is wild, but due to the still-unconfirmed rumors that it can flee, it's most likely to be in a Master Ball, like mine.

For those of you that don't know, the Celebi Glitch is an error in the programming of early U.S. copies of Ruby and Sapphire. So far, nobody even knows if it is in the Japanese versions. Anyway, it allows an extremely slim chance of finding a wild Celebi on Routes 121 and 123. It is much rarer than a shiny.

^ this will tell you more. The reason the page is in my own userspace is because all the controversy over the glitch has caused the Bulbapedia staff to believe that the glitch doesn't exist, like so many other people do. Even has the odds of the Celebi appearing; 1 in 268,435,456.

This is untrue; the way the game works, there can't be a wild pokemon that has an encounter rate of under 1%. In addition, people have hacked into the game files and found that there is no way to obtain a Celebi from RS - this is purely a myth.

A generation 4 Pokemon's data contains information on its "game of origin", such as Ruby, Emerald, or Platinum. One of these values is called "Colosseum/XD". If a Pokemon has the game of origin set to this value, the game will say that it came from a "distant land". The game will still also note that it was caught in Pal Park.

I was wondering, in what order do the daycare people replace moves? I am chain breeding, and wanted to leave a fairly low leveled poke as a parent, and it has a few egg moves I want to pass on. 3 actually. Is there anyway I can protect the 3 permanently?

I was also wondering, what does the dude in the battle frontier say in case of a tie between two stats with the same IVs?

Also, how exactly are HP (hit points) IVs determined? Is it completely random?

I'm not quite sure where to put this, but it seems as if the Smogon Pokedex has some holes in it. An example is Porygon-z. Although it has been able to learn Icy Wind since Pt, Icy Wind is not in its movepool and Porygon-z is not in Icy-Wind's distribution.

I see. Then kindly explain to me how a level 26 pure myth can be sitting in a Master Ball in Box 17 of my PC in my HeartGold version, won't you?

They delete the moves that are on top first. I've heard the IV guy either tells you a random one or cycles between them. Either way, he'll tell you them all if you talk to him enough. HP IVs are determined the same way all of the other stats are. They have a chance to be passed down from the parents and if they aren't, they're random.

You can't protect the moves. You have to take the male parent out of the daycare and literally put the move you don't want as the first move that it knows. You can switch moves, so you have to keep putting the ones you want to keep at the bottom of its moveset.

The battle frontier will say a random IV each time. If you have a 31/31/x/x/x/31, he will say "The Atk stat can't be better." Then if you talk to him again he will say "The Spe stat can't be better", and so on for the HP, at which point he will cycle through them again.

As for HP IVs, it depends on your game. In HGSS, it has a 1/4 chance of being passed, as opposed to a 1/6 chance in DP (and maybe Pt, but I'm not sure).
