After watching the video with a nice resolution I noticed that the recoil is around 25% HP. Oops.
And now, something else. If Wild Bolt's recoil is the usual 1/3 damage, then Shimama took something around 38 HPs of damage... which means it may have 152 HP at level 50. Not too bad, I guess.
Either that, or Wild Bolt takes constant 25% of the user's HP when it's used. Why would they do that, though, I have no idea.

The video's on the first page, by the way, hidden under that link between parentheses (click it).

That would give Shimama 77 Base HP (assuming max IVs and min EVs), which isn't bad on a sweeper. Also, we can't be sure that Wild Bolt doesn't activate Motor Drive because Shimama could have had Lightning Rod in that video.

No clue what you're talking about with the video, though. The last link there is the one from a while ago.

I don't see anything about でんきエンジン (Motor Drive in Japanese) on the message that appears right after Wild Bolt deals damage, so I doubt it boosted its speed.

By the way, here's the link to the page with the video.

That's the thing, Shimama has Lighting Rod (as well as Motor Drive), which wouldn't do anything to the recoil.

Ugh. Are they going to make more bee Pokemon or something? Although I wouldn't mind them having a Vespiquen, but I don't want it to be like a bee exclusive gym. And it's UGLY!!!

I would assume it's just a Bug-type gym, and the leader has a Vespiquien and/or Beedrill themed team. Just look at Bugsy's gym from HGSS. It was covered in webs which the player crossed via Spinarak-shaped cars, but that didn't mean the whole gym was spider exclusive.

Very well may be; they need to test one with Motor Drive to find out. Maybe in the next (or upcoming) Pokemon Sunday?

All right, let's just get this straight...recoil damage is typeless. The whole point of moves like Submission and Wood Hammer is that they subtract a portion of the damage dealt, so adding weaknesses and resistances to that equation would make no sense. Does an Ice-typed Pokemon receive extra percent damage per turn if it gets burned? Do Charizard and Yankemga lose half their health bar every turn during a sandstorm? No.

Also, you guys forgot one thing - if recoil damage were typed, Arcanine and Rapidash would be able to gain a Flash Fire Boost every time they used Flare Blitz. Broken much?

After trying to figure out why theres a sepeare Zorua and Zoroark event, when Zorua can evolve into zoroark amd i think i've figured it out.

If you notice, the even Zoroark appears to be Female, while the Zorua is Male. So i think its possible they might have their own breeding group, so both the Zorua and Zoroark are needed to breed.

PokeBeach posted this a while ago. Yes, you're right, the Zoroark is a female and the Zorua is its male child. It all has something to do with the plot of the upcoming movie. The fact that you might have to breed a Pokemon with its mother is indeed disgusting (let's hope that's not the case) but then again, Ditto would still be able to...er...service her.

Edit: Finally watched the video. Man, this game is starting to look great...can't say I love the new animation for stat-lowering, however. Also, did anyone recognize the graphic for Night Burst? It was the attack Zoroark was using in one of the first Black/White screenshots...he's using it on Zorua, and there's a city in the background. Just thought that was neat.

More concerned about how Wild Bolt (still banking on this being Special) didn't OHKO Mijumaru. Also, Sweep Slap not doing at least 50% to Pokabu... But that's still pretty good if Pokabu is bulky and Chiraami has Technician, I guess. I would have bet money Gearu's Gear Saucer was going to work like Whirlpool/Fire Spin/Wrap.

Shell Blade is cool, maybe we might be getting signature moves akin to the ones in RSE, with Leaf Blade/Blaze Kick/Muddy Water? Would be nice.

Animations are nice, etc.

No particular other thoughts. Sort of surprised they didn't show case Munna's attack... I forget what's called now. Telekinesis?

EDIT: REALLY paid attention to the animations. Holy cow, stuff like the trainer tossing out the Pokemon look really great. I wish they weren't still using sprites, it would look great with actual art manipulated in the same way.

Ok, finally watched the video.

Isn't that Mart music exactly like HGSS's?

Lol what the hell was that, Chiramii's sprite sunk onto the ground once the camera moved out to Pokabu. Seriously, Game Freak?

And the battle music seems to change when the pokémon's HP is at red.

Oh, that's an interesting idea. The opponent could become jammed between the gears. The animation does sort of support this.
Can anyone tell if the text says anything like "Gearu used gear Saucer!" and then "Opponent is hurt by Gear Saucer"? Or is it just a two-turn attack? like Double Hit?

It would have made the most sense to me if someone had told me to make an attack based on gears without considering competitive value of the attack. But it seemed like a plain old multi-hit attack. And since Gearu doesn't have the benefit of Technician like Chiraami does, it seems sorta pointless.

@Mario with Lasers: No, actually, I think that's just very great synching of the "close to fainting" jingle and the battle music. It sounds really cool. But maybe it does and I'm not listening hard enough.

I'm really hoping Chiramii had Cute Charm on instead of Technician, b/c Sweet Slap is going to be pathetic if that was +STAB and Technician boost. If it had Technician on, it's going to be a real letdown to it (although I doubt it would have had any real competitive value to it anyway). I also hope that the music is good (can't hear b/c of no speakers on computer :( ). The animations with the trainers throwing out the Pokes were pretty slick IMO, definitely going to import it now.

Now that's just silly. Roselia is too strong to get early on. It's something you need to have available for the middle of the game. Budew had to be made or Roselia would have to be delayed so long that there would be no early Grass besides Oddish, which is underwhelming in the extreme come Vileplume.

Really, think of this outside of a competitive aspect, and into game design. Should we remove everything but final evos, so that we aren't wasting space for inferior Pokemon? Should we remove all NU Pokemon because they aren't good enough for UU or OU?

You could just as easily included say the Bellsprout line if you really wanted more Grass types. I agree you need evolution lines... but what was the point of Budew exactly? To give an excuse to obtain Roserade early on for the player? To provide another grass type when we have plenty? I really hope that isn't the case because that's a weak reason to include a pre-evo.

I think someone on staff REALLY loved Roselia. It got both a pre-evolution AND an evolution that also doubles as an evolution that genuinely doesn't suck despite being Grass/Poison.

Seriously, though, sometimes a pre-evolution can do something that makes more sense for it to do than its evolution. Maybe it made more sense to Gamefreak to make a bud spread around pollen. It doesn't, but another example that makes more sense is how Mankey lets Primeape get Iron Tail despite Primeape not having a tail. I'm not sure what you might call it, but examples like that are one reason why I think Gamefreak makes pre-evolutions. Besides cute factor... Another example that includes an actual baby Pokemon might be Wynaut, which has big emphasis on its hand-ear things, giving Wynaut Encore which, ignoring the fact that they probably didn't want to give Wobbuffet itself a new move, makes a little more sense for Wynaut than for Wobbuffet, who places no special emphasis on its hands.

I really don't see the ground alligator being too threatening or even a wall. No way is it going to have godly speed.. and alligators aren't usually big like HIPPOS to be tanks.

Going to be one of those cool pokemon that doesn't really dent the threat-list.

I'm going to guess it will be the equivalent of Rampardos. An Alligator has to have stupid-high attack. Maybe it'll be a slower/bulkier version of Dugtrio with that secondary ability?

I understand why we have pre-evos... I just don't like them =p

Otter perhaps being Water/Rock? Thematically could make sense. Competitively weak to Fighting, Ground, Electric, and Double Grass plus doesn't resist Stealth Rock. Got Normal, Poison, Flying, Ice, and Double Fire Resistances. Not liking that too much.

Did the audio still make that warning beeping tone though? If not, and it's just a musical change, that's a huge improvement in my eyes.

Just confirmed, there still is the beeping noise, but now the music goes faster when the pokémon's at red health.

Bellsprout was an early-game Grass pokémon in two generations, RBY and GSC. Everyone's "familiar" with him. Now, Roselia was a pretty new pokémon which would be relegated yet again to mid-game, so they went and gave it a pre-evo. Then Roselia became a complete evolutionary line, Game Freak got themselves another baby pokémon to merchandise, I got a new option for a Grass starter besides dumb old Oddish/Bellsprout, everybody got happy.

I really don't understand why it would have low speed since it's a crocodile (they can easily outspeed humans), and didn't it go before Tsutaja in the video? (or possibly they showed it attacking after Tsutaja did, IDK)

Yeah, doesn't sound great. But it actually seems most likely to me, besides maybe Water/Normal, which seems sorta boring despite only derpbarel sharing the typing. But that's not a bad typing at all either way.

im just trying to think realistic.

chimchar turned into the ape that was fast as fuck.. which is pretty real.

turtwig the turtle type turned into torterra the predictable slow pain in the a.

piplup the penguin.. aka.. the middle man having decent stats throughout.

Well when you put it that way, I see what you guys are trying to get at and there's not I can argue with. I just wish if they were going to do that then do it to some types that need more pokemon.

See I'm still waiting for the BA Specially oriented Water/Fighting Polar Bear. There really aren't any more dual types that haven't been done yet... although I could totally see this guy being Water/Dark.
